I will just say that imo, George Michael is the best male singer of all time. Yes, I said that, best of all time. 1st time I heard this song was 1988 Winter Olympics' Skating Exhibition where Debi Thomas skated to this song, after losing the Gold because she goofed the long program. Everyone was rooting for her in the arena and the viewers around the world. Check out her short program she was on fire!

This came out when I was in 8th grade. Even we guys liked it. That "Faith" album is one that everyone seemed to have. Later in life he admitted he was gay, but during this time it was assumed he was straight, and he was a chick magnet. The 1980's were so good to us, and this album was one of the many reasons why. I'll be fifty later this year, and I'd give up half of what I have if we could have another ten years of that decade. Cheers from a Generation X'er in northeast Ohio.

Oh George. I was in 5th grade. One cross earring. Denim jacket with a ton of George Michael pens. I carried around a little red boom box with the tape "Faith" playing at all times. My older sister took me to the Faith concert. I still remember, 7th row, center. Right at the end of his catwalk. He was truly a beautiful performer.

If you dig and look deeper into the lyrics, they have a dark meaning. Someone who is fed up of danger and trying to find some peace in his life. A young boy with a 'teacher' who is trying to teach him some things he doesn't want to learn. The boy doesn't want to learn to hold and touch this person, who was a stranger, and fall in love with him because he knows he will be let go (passed on to someone else) The last one made him cry. He's trying to please this person but he is cold inside, but is willing to make one more try to be kept and loved. Sorry to burst your bubble folks - I'm sure George had to pay a price for his fame and fortune. Maybe he couldn't cope with all those feelings and began to put out songs about promiscuity etc and that eventually led to suicide. These young men are passed around within the industry and used in exchange for fame, money etc, it's a well known fact. The song is beautifully sung and emotional so not taking that away from George.
