That's actually her part-time job lol 😆..a wedding singer albeit only for her close acquaintances/friends 😁 (eg. Back up vocal singer, back up dancer, friends or even family of friends). She's been doing it when she was still new in the industry and even now that she's very successful and almost on her 16th year.

It's just an inside joke for uaenas saying IU is a part-time wedding singer with how often she does it for her friends or close acquaintances (not really a lot but it accumulates over her 16 yrs career) but of course I knew she's not actually hired for it. More like a favor done or an act of blessing or gift to the couple.

IU is big ... like very BIG and respected in kmusic and kpop industry. You can randomly mention 5 popular kpop groups, and maybe half those group members are her fans, grow with her hits, inspired by seeing her show and drama in TV. This particular song is a hit in January - February, you can see so many reaction video of this song, some of them are totally not kpop person, like you two 😂

I think not having the context of the music video, and the related emotion being conveyed by the singing here, is a bit of an issue. I can remember a couple of singing critic reactors being unimpressed by "My Sea" at the Golden Hour Concert, mostly because of IU's emphasis on straight notes... but without context of her total artistry, capability for singing in different tones/styles, and without the lyrics which are unparalleled, they discounted what may be one of her most beloved ballads ever.

I don't really know IU very well and people will surely correct me... IU is really big in Korea, I mean extremely big, well known and loved, hence the big crowd. Absolutely talented too, a beautiful voice. Not really my style of music, but this song is really amazing. The music video for this song was the first time I heard of IU and I was mesmerized. Singing this live is just awesome 😊

You should surely chekout a few more songs of her according to your taste. She doesn't follow any genre. She herself is a genre. 6:00 the things people are holding are celled lightsticks, every artists in kpop have their own lightssticks and they hold it during the entiere concert, yes she does not only ballads (even if it's one of the genre ppl love the most when it comes to her music because she is THAT good) there is a performance from the same concert of a song called "shopper" if yall want to react to it you could see she how diverse she is. She is like the celine dion of korea lmaooo, she is the most popular solist and a VERY talented actress too (she does sing ost's for movies/dramas too lmaooo)

IU covers genres from Jazz, balads, orchestral pieces, pop, R&B. She writes all of her lyrics since 2015. And sometimes composes this. Her concerts last for 3 or more hours. And her fans have lightstick which synchronise with the music

You can be honest without being rude. Maybe next time, you can do the most minimum of research for that. But I can also see where you're coming from, the person on the right side seems to be someone who can't actually appreciate a ballad other than genres of rock and heavy metal etc.. So I can recommend Jannabi, a korean rock band, and LiSA (Risa) Oribe who is more into pop-rock genre to expose you to some korean songs and even more Japanese songs.. by then hopefully you can distinguish Korean from Japanese 😁

People can like what they want but when you disrespect that's another story. This wedding singer is doing quite well. Think worth 50 million in Korea. Just came off world tour. All sell outs. Did 6 or 7 shows in the US. All 20k arenas. Last show was 40k in Manila and final 2 shows 100k in Seoul. Morons
