The Beatles were brave, as they spoke to the world about peace and love, doiing more for the world through their music and personalities than any politicians ever living in the same timeframe. They were a force to contend with, and no politicians could ever measure up to the Beatles dedication to healing the world's attitude. Rare humans indeed.

Not a day goes by that I don't wish John was still alive and what he'd be saying about the world right now. Lennon was an artistic genius. He was not just a songwriter and musician; he wrote poems, short stories; he drew portraits and paintings; he was a philosopher and political activist, amongst many other things. Lennon was an artist of all stripes and colours. "A brotherhood of man." RIP John //o-o\\

Guess what was playing during the Olympics opening ceremony? 🙂 From CNN: "Imagine" performed as a call for peace Pianist Sofiane Pamart and singer Juliette Armanet just performed a rendition of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s “Imagine” - while on a vessel in the Seine with a piano that had flames coming out of the top. After the song concluded, “We all stand and call for peace” flashed on screens in English.

Love your reaction this is one of the best songs ever written ! By the 1 and only John Lennon ! It's so strange that the world is still not heading this. Especially when watching reaction to this song, no matter who's preforming it, I don't think I've ever seen any one ever say this is BS seems as if all who hear it agree with it, and say they wish life was indeed like this. So WHY WHY WHY do we still have hate greed and biggitry and we let all it all come between us as humans, what a waste of life that we can't get our sh-together enough to enjoy life together and in peace. Seems that everyone wants it ? I still get the chills everytime I hear it. Wouldn't it be great , what a dream. Ty again for a great reaction. . .

🎶 Skiffle - “ski” with a short I, pronounced as if it rhymes with lip, (only no p) and then “full” just like the word - to be full of something. Emphasis is on the first syllable, so SKI- full. “The first use of the term on record was in 1925 in the US under the name of Jimmy O'Bryant and his Chicago Skifflers. Most often it was used to describe country blues music records, which included the compositions "Hometown Skiffle" (1929) and "Skiffle Blues" (1946) by Dan Burley & his Skiffle Boys. It was used by Ma Rainey (1886-1939) to describe her repertoire to rural audiences. The term skiffle disappeared from American music in the 1940s.” “Improvised jug bands playing blues and jazz were common across the American South in the early decades of the 20th century. They used instruments such as the washboard, jugs, washtub bass, cigar-box fiddle, musical saw and comb-and-paper kazoos, as well as more conventional instruments, such as acoustic guitar and banjo.” “Skiffle had a revival in the United Kingdom in the 1950’s. It referred to music from people with little money for instruments. The new style captivated an entire generation of post-war youth in England.” “Billy Bragg's book: ‘Roots, Radicals and Rockers,’ a history of the skiffle movement, was published in 2017. Bragg has compared the development of skiffle in Britain in the 1950s to punk rock in the 1970s, noting that skiffle was a revolt by young people against the culture of their parents, and allowed them to create their own style of music without expensive equipment.” 🎶

My favorite John Lennon song, then Instant Karma is a groovy tune. My heart broken 💔 to this day over his murder, while walking with Yoko his wife in NYC shot dead on the street. I love John’s voice & his message to the world. He was loudly criticized for marrying Yoko, people thought she was bad for him & the band, in my opinion the critics were to blame for him moving to America & his death, it was none of their business who he loved. RIP to a wonderful musician who along with George, Ringo & Paul brought the British Invasion to the world. I was 12 yrs living in Canada when they came to America & performed on The Ed Sullivan Show & the rest is history 🥰 George Harrison my fav Beatle has amazing material My Sweet Lord a very popular hit, All Things Must Pass, Isn’t it a Pity, … While My Guitar Gently Weeps a very big hit & you should watch the tribute to George being posthumously inducted into the R&R Hall of fame with incredible musicians including Dharma, George’s son who looks like his dad, Prince was amazing honouring George with his guitar 🎸 playing While My Guitar Gently Weeps❣️

John Lennon was the spokesperson for his generation for sure... He advocated for civil rights for minorities in the USA in the 60's as a Beatle and spoke against sending young soldiers to fight in the pointless Vietnam war as an anti-war activist... He was targeted by Pres. Nixon and the FBI under J. Edgar Hoover - he was ordered to be deported from the US and he fought the order and won after Nixon resigned in disgrace for abusing his power as president. Born into a broken home in the port city of Liverpool in England - his father was a sailor, his mom Julia actually gave him up to be raised by John Lennon's Aunt Mimi and Uncle George (who died in 1955)... He reconnected w/ his mom Julia as a teen and she gave him his first guitar and early lessons how to 'strum' it. Sadly, tragedy struck in 1958 when his mom Julia was killed after being struck by a drunk driver, who was an off-duty cop. John Lennon later wrote the Beatles song 'Julia' for her... In 1957, John Lennon and his friends from school started a band together called The Quarrymen... Lennon played guitar but couldn't really play; they played 'skiffle' music which was popular w/ British kids - they would just create a rhythm and sing the songs they loved coming from America... Paul McCartney was a kid in school who saw him play and was asked to join Lennon's band... McCartney's father was a musician and he taught Lennon how to play chords on the guitar and piano... McCartney also brought in George Harrison on guitar for the band, even though he was extremely young. As a youth, John Lennon was headstrong and would get into fights quite often, which was not uncommon in Liverpool. In 1960, The Beatles were officially a rock n' roll band after Pete Best (drums) and Lennon's friend from art school Stu Sutcliffe (bass) joined and the band played gigs between Hamburg, (West) Germany and Liverpool. Ringo Starr (drums) joined in 1962. Stu Sutcliffe left the band in 1961 to settle in Hamburg (Paul McCartney switched to bass) but Stu Sutcliffe tragically died in 1962 from a brain aneurysm. The Beatles were signed by late 1962 and released their debut album in early 1963... the hysteria they created in the UK and Europe that year as they toured was dubbed 'Beatlemania' by the press... In 1964, The Beatles came to America w/ a #1 record ('I want to hold your hand')... John Lennon married his pregnant girlfriend Cynthia and his son Julian Lennon was born in 1963. By 1966 after several huge albums and 2 feature films, The Beatles opted to quit touring and focus their energy on new music and their record label Apple Corp. John Lennon also met a Japanese artist Yoko Ono and they began a scandalous affair that ended his marriage to Cynthia. John and Yoko married in 1969 and he changed his middle name to 'Ono' legally. He and Yoko spent time on anti-war activism. By 1969, The Beatles were at odds creatively and in business... John Lennon quietly left the band. Paul McCartney ended up suing John, George and Ringo to terminate their partnership and divide The Beatles' assets fairly... McCartney said he did not trust manager Allen Klein, who managed 3 of the 4 Beatles. John and Yoko were inseparable and spent time together on music, art and activism... but they separated in 1972 after John was unfaithful... He went to the West Coast to work on music but got lost in drugs and alcohol... He finally reconciled w/ Yoko Ono in 1974 after cleaning up and meeting w/ her at an Elton John concert... Their only son Sean Lennon was born in 1975 - John Lennon wrote "Beautiful boy (Darling boy)" about him... John, Yoko and Sean settled down in an apartment in NYC and they lived quietly after giving up music and worked in the arts scene... John Lennon beat his deportation order and even reconciled w/ Paul McCartney... In 1980, he met producer Jack Douglas (Aerosmith's producer) and talked about making a new album... John and Yoko recorded and released the album 'Double fantasy' in 1980 and were talking about touring the next year... Sadly, John Lennon was shot and killed after a deranged fan approached him at his apartment building entrance in late 1980 - John Lennon was only 40 years of age... His killer (Mark David Chapman) is still behind bars. In 1994, the surviving Beatles (Paul, George and Ringo) reunited in the studio to complete 3 John Lennon demos that were recorded before his death... They were asked to play some songs together in the studio but were unwilling to perform any Beatles hits without John Lennon... They were filmed casually jamming on old songs that inspired their career.

Skiffle is skiff le Wikipedia: At the age of 15, Lennon formed a skiffle group, the Quarrymen. Named after Quarry Bank High School, the group was established by Lennon in September 1956. The origins of skiffle are obscure but generally thought to lie in African-American musical culture in the early 20th century. Skiffle is often said to have developed from New Orleans jazz, but this claim has been disputed.

Released in 1971, the reason it wasn't a number one song when it originally came out here (UK), is because, like many Beatles albums, no single was released from the 'Imagine' album (at the time of release). When it was eventually released as a single (4 years later in 1975), it was already well known and millions already had the track having bought the album; hence the reason it didn't go to number 1 on that occasion, although it did following his murder in 1980.

Toward the end of the Beatles as a band, John lost all enthusiasm for it, reportedly because of his Opiate use and the use of Psychedelics (and let's face it, that's a bad combination) Paul was carrying the band through it's last couple of albums and that caused a lot of disillusionment and in-fighting amongst the members. In the end Paul had "Beatles Burn-out" and quit, this is after every other member quit at one time or another. There was "bad blood" between John and Paul for a several years after that but they were eventually reconciled. Lucky they were reconciled because John only lived for 10 years after the break up. Also, if you watch the movie "Forrest Gump", Forrest gives John the idea for this song during an interview on late night T.V. (just a little pointless trivia for ya)
