Lovebites history : Lovebites has been around since 2016, and the women became more famous worldwide after performing at several major festivals, mainly in Europe, starting in 2018 - Wacken Open Air in Germany 2018 - Bloodstock Open Air in England 2019 - Graspop Metal Meeting Festival in Belgium 2019 - Download Festival in Spain. 2019 - Download Festival in UK. 2019 - Summer Sonic 2019 Festival in Japan In 2020, their career was abruptly interrupted by Corona. Welcome & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 Lovebites is one of the best bands in our country. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands (Band-Maid, whom you have already covered, is one of them). They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

this band is INDESTRUCTIBLE . 2 hour live shows that continue at this pace almost uninterrupted. they really only have one song that stays a power ballad all the way through and that is 'epilogue'. the only break that the drum machine known as 'the little big engine' gets during the show. haruna is her name and many wonder if she is human or a machine. then with the dueling guitar work of m+m - midori and miyako - thundering bass of miho and top that off with the one and only voice asami you have simply the best band on the planet. untouchable imo. they are addictive.

Welcome to Lovebites, the Wolfpack 🐺 Lovebites fans around the world, will be along to give you information and recommendations. Lovebites are a Japanese heavy metal band, formed in 2016 by Miho, Bass, who was previously in the band DESTROSE that broke up in 2015. They take much of their influence from the 1970's and 80's British and European bands such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Metallica. Miho is a big fan of Steve Harris, bass player with Iron Maiden and is influenced by his playing style. She left the band in 2021 for personal reasons and is currently pursuing new projects. Any Lovebites video recorded in 2021 or earlier, the bassist will be Miho (ESP Bass), any from 2022 or later, it is Fami (Bacchus Bass, usually a 5 string) The present members are, Asami, Vocals and Piano. She trained in Ballet Dancing and before Lovebites was a R&B singer. She writes many of the lyrics and sings in English, not easy for a native Japanese speaker. Midori, (Midori Tatematsu) ESP Guitars. The blond 'Amazon Warrior'. Before Lovebites a member of all female band GEKIJO METALICCHE. Miyako, ( Watanabe Miyako, also has used the name Mi Ya) Dean and Gibson Guitars, Piano and Keyboards. The 'serious' one with long black hair. Before Lovebites a member of the bands DROP OF JOKER, 21g and SONIC LOVER RECKLESS. She is a classically trained pianist who writes much of the music, often incorporating classical themes into her compositions. She recently posted a 3 part series on her YT channel 'MIYAKO OFFICIAL' about the process she uses to compose new music in her home studio. She has an EP of some classic heavy metal songs transcribed and played on piano as though they are classical works. It would be accurate to think of her as a classical pianist who also plays guitar in a heavy metal band. A remarkable young woman. Both Guitarists play lead, seamlessly swapping lead and rhythm as required. They play wonderful harmonised dual solos. Fami, Bacchus Bass. Recruited as replacement for Miho in late 2022 when she was 20 years old and still at university. She has her own YT channel that has nearly 700,000 subs. Check out her 'Alien Alien' Slap Bass cover from when she was in her teens. Haruna, Drums. The 'Little BIG Engine'. a tiny lady, 1.45 meters tall, who is the power house that drives the band. Before Lovebites she had been in Destrose, Miho's former band, and was the first to join her in the new band. She plays powerfully, fast and precisely throughout concerts that can be up to near 2 hours long. She uses a double kick bass pedal at unbelievable speed. All members of the band can play piano/keyboards. They were the first all female Japanese band to play at the Wacken festival, Germany in 2018, also playing at the Bloodstock festival in the UK and winning the UK Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band. In 2019 they toured the UK with Dragon Force and opened for Arch Enemy in China. Following Miho's departure in 2021 they went on hiatus, two members, Asami and Miyako getting married and having babies. Their 'comeback' concert, the first with Fami on Bass, was in March 2023. Here are a few recommendations for further listening; Break The Wall, Soldier Stands Solitarily, Golden Destination (there is a video that has footage from their 2019 tour of the UK with Dragon Force, including Herman Li as the 'missing sixth member of Lovebites' wearing a white dress) Thunder Vengeance, M.D.O., Scream For Me (live from 'Daughters of the Dawn' "OK Haruna, Give me the beat") For a masterclass in syncronised guitar shredding. Winds of Transylvania (written for a Japanese Anime series VLADLOVE) A Frozen Serenade, Swan Song, with the Chopin piano introduction played by Miyako, Edge of the World, Epilogue. There are many more I could suggest, but this should give you an idea of their range. The Wolfpack will have more suggestions. I would suggest watching live performances wherever possible. The ladies really shine on stage. I saw Lovebites live in London twice during their recent European tour. I have been a fan of Rock and Metal music right from the beginning seeing bands bands like Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Iron Maiden when they were 'new', Lovebites are amongst the best I have ever seen in nearly 60 years of going to music gigs 🐺

Thanks for your reaction! I don't understand why some critics in their articles call LOVEBITES 'a power metal band'. I can assume that these critics do not know the entire discography of the band. Most likely, it was after the articles of such critics that the statement appeared in Wikipedia that LOVEBITES is 'a power metal band'. Unfortunately, there are errors in Wikipedia in articles dedicated to LOVEBITES. I have personally found errors many times. When you read the original sources, the information in them often differs from what is written in Wikipedia. I suppose that this may be due to errors in translating articles and reviews from Japanese music media into English for Wikipedia. People who post information on Wikipedia do not know Japanese and may use automatic translators. Which often distort the original text. Many music media, in turn, take information about the band from Wikipedia. Including copying existing errors. There is a double or triple distortion of information.😊 I think that calling LOVEBITES 'a power metal band' is not quite right. Because the discography of LOVEBITES covers different genres of metal: speed, progressive, thrash, power, non-classical metal, there are elements of symphonic metal, there are hard rock songs and classical music (piano). Often the ladies mix several genres in one song. Many people who listen to LOVEBITES for the first time very often have an association with IRON MAIDEN. Someone, when listening to some songs of LOVEBITES, remembers JUDAS PRIEST. 🤔But IRON MAIDEN and JUDAS PRIEST are not considered power metal bands. 😊 Whenever their Label presents new releases (EPs, Albums, DVDs/Blu-rays etc.) he always refer to LOVEBITES as 'a heavy metal band' or 'a metal band'. For example, on the cover of 'Lovebites EP II' (2024) it is written: '100% HEAVY METAL'. The title of the concert DVD/Blu-ray/2xCD 'Heavy Metal Never Dies - Live in Tokyo 2021' emphasizes that LOVEBITES position themselves as a heavy metal band. The ladies also position themselves as a heavy metal band. In social networks they write about themselves: "guitarist of a heavy metal band", etc. Throughout the band's existence, at every performance, Asami shouts to the audience in the hall: "We are LOVEBITES and We play Heavy Metal!" To be convinced that LOVEBITES is not a power metal band, it is enough to listen to at least their thrash songs: 'Thunder Vengeance' (with a symphonic intro), 'M.D.O.', 'Set the World on Fire', 'The Hammer of Wrath', 'The Apocalypse', 'Break the Wall', 'Winds of Transylvania' (speed+thrash, with a symphonic intro and outro) , 'Paranoia' (with a symphonic intro), 'Dissonance', 'Where's Identity'.
