Live Aid was billed as a Global Jukebox! 🤩 Simply put the planets, galaxy, & universe lined up for these “Princes of the Universe” on that hot summer day in July 1985. Brian revealed that Queen thought their performance was “kind of okay”. Elton John said “Freddie, nobody should go on after you - you were magnificent.” 😃Freddie replied “You’re absolutely right , darling, we were - we killed them.” NOTE: Elton once commented that Rod Stewart once discussed the possibility of forming a supergroup and calling it Nose, Teeth, & Hair (Elton, Fred, Rod).

I rarely see this pointed out, but if you look at the end of the set, the yellow light in front of Freddie gives way to a red light that indicates when the power was to be cut and Queen end their set exactly when that light changes. I also read somewhere that Freddie's "Ayoo" interaction with the crowd was unrehearsed and had to be compensated for by cutting short another song (i am guessing "We will rock you") so that just shows how tight the band was in meeting unexpected changes on the fly. Truly the greatest ever!

Good morning (it is here in the UK) - first Pamela- here is a 'virtual' bouquet of flowers from me to you to cheer you up and start your week full of positivity and love 💐x. I also say to people when they say what you have said to me "Even the longest day has to end" - so whatever it is my dear, just hang on tight and you will get through. Maybe that's why you are here, part of the SLC - as there will always be someone to reply, including myself as it is important for 'everyone' to be heard as long as it's respectful. Queen are indeed magical and that is why music is so important - because that is how we were brought together here - Thanks my dear Freddie in heaven 🙏🏽😘 - he and Queen brought you here, so you see, a bit of positivity there. Go forth into this week and know that you are 'liked' and 'loved' very much though we are humans are not too great in conveying our 'true' feelings. Well I'm pretty different....My fews weeks have been awful - I've just picked up Loulou my cat from the hospital as she had surgery last week on her back leg as she fell from a fence as a cat was chasing her and landed badly thus rupturing her knee - my heart is broken into pieces, but I'm holding on and sticking it all back together now (my heart) as she is back home now. It's just me and her and she is a rescue cat and already disabled. This is actually the first time I have written this, so I guess we are each other's Angels right now. Speak soon Pamela - all my love Psyche 🙋🏽♀️🌹❤️😘 x

They said that they couldn't hear one another on the stage, the sound quality was awful. But unlike some of the other acts, they had rigorously rehearsed their act to the second and you can see them using visual cues amongst themselves. Incredibly professional as well as an incredible performance. Freddie's voice was giving out near the end (he had been advised by his doctor not to perform) and you can hear Roger singing louder and louder trying to support him. Such a tight band.

Psyche Honey, I'm so sorry to hear you haven't been well.... I HOPE you're getting better now? And I hope being under the weather didn't spoil your Easter! Just so you know, Hon: At the end of that day during the closing numbers, Freddie & Brian had been asked ahead of time to take part and do an ENCORE; they performed: "IS THIS THE WORLD WE CREATED?" You NEED to see it to make your Live Aid experience complete! (I don't mean having to do a reaction - unless you chose to do so, of course... just watch it for your own enjoyment: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJradaJtlKyroK8 I know everryyyone is going to tell you: Freddie had a throat infection and his Dr. didn't want him to perform, because it might injure his throat. When Fred got done with this set, he said his throat felt like he'd been "gargling with shards of glass" (his words). Every time I watch this performance (which is about once a week!) ...I always think about this: Freddie had begun a relationship with Jim Hutton earlier that year... (Next time you see pictures of Fred at Live Aid or anytime after, you'll notice he's wearing what resembles a wedding band on his RIGHT ring finger... because at this time, Gay Marriage was illegal.) But when they first met and first dated, Jim had NO IDEA who Freddie was. (I think that's why Fred was initially drawn to Jim, because he didn't need to worry if Jim's interest in him was just for his fame and money.) And, up until the day of Live Aid... Jim had still NEVER EVER seen Freddie and the band perform. So... Freddie invited Jim to come along with him on this day to see the band play, but ALL that cad Fred told Jim was that the band was going to perform at a charity show. THAT'S IT. (Naughty Freddie!) Poor Jim said he was "GOBSMACKED... I just followed him around all day like a puppy." (He also said that while Queen were onstage performing, he was watching on one of the screens backstage and thinking proudly "That's my guy!") I really hope you're feeling better, Psyche... You're looking BEAUTIFUL. (And I still LOVE those natural curls!) -Marcella
@psycheinc-theSLC2 жыл бұрын
Hello my dear Marcella - goodness I so love reading your comments - I just follow everything in my mind - it's a like a glorious book that you don't want to put down! Thank you for all of it. Live Aid is real tough to show copyright wise - the song is beautiful! Thank you for the back story - oooh can you imagine - "like gargling with shards of glass" geez that must have had a pain level off the planet - and having a sore throat and being a vocalist is beyond dreadful - but with all the adrenaline running and his sheer determination he performed the Masterpiece of the who event! And when you look at his demeanour and how he carried himself through his tough illness, he held himself like a true Queen/King - DIGNIFIED all the way to the end. An absolute credit to the human race - pity more don't follow in his footsteps! I better now, thank goodness - it was quite a journey, but other things have taken over to sort - I will let you know in due course. Anyhow I hope you had a marvellous Easter - keep safe, happy, healthy and never change - you are one of the nicest people to have come across my path - for that I am truly grateful Marcella. All my love - Psyche ❤️xx

Interesting to know before Queen came on the telephones were very quiet after Queen left the stage the telephones went absolutely mad . Also remember this was not a Queen audience but we all knew the part . Also they were sound limiters the manager switched off which meant Queen we're louder than anyone else ,and Freddie was advised not to sing by his Doctors. Its just a masterclass by Queen I've seen it many , many times over the years and still just amazing to watch . We never see his like again and as long as people listen to music Queen will live forever.

Not for nothing but Knowing his Lyrics it’s worth a 2nd watch for people to actually hear and understand the lyrics they resonate with ALL PEOPLE so basic and pure and true. Unbelievable that they were performing last minute and Freddy against doctors advice with a walloping throat infection and they brought in over $1,000,000 pounds that day for live aid!! More than all the others combined for the 1st 6 hrs of that benefit show! His last concert was best before he had to stop performing live (bloody AIDS anyways💔 TRAGIC!) It was called SIMPLY Live At Wembley I’d like to close with this…. Before Micheal Jackson (who was just as brilliant) there was Freddy Mercury and Queen!!

What an astonishing performance. There will never be anyone on Freddie Mercury’s level. That guy was in stratosphere of his own. And what’s even crazier is that he had already been suffering from HIV for 3-4 years at this point, and nobody knew it, not even Freddie himself.

I just subbed your channel, Psyche.. I like your style. I have discovered that the newer reactors have started competing with the performers by singing into their cameras/phones while the video is playing and they are missing a whole other part of the performance. As someone said below, just watching your expressions as the music played/Freddie sang told us exactly how you were feeling about the performance. Looking forward to watching your other videos. ❤ - just stunning. Thank you 'so' much for your appreciation. I'm older than most doing this so not trying to compete or perform. Some have lost their way and make it about them when it should be about what we're viewing. Thank you for being part of the SLC. Psyche 🙋🏽♀️ x

The introduction to this is great. Too bad you didn’t open with it! I wonder how many of the Queen Live Aid react videos have seen the movie “Bohemian Rhapsody” before watching this!

I don't usually do this, but I have been drawn to say this for a while now : I definitely love your hair like this. I know it is completely off topic and irrelevant, but it had to go out for some reason. Oh, and it was really nice listening to some Queen by your side. Note that you cut yourself a bit short at the end. Anyhow, happy Easter, hoping you are doing fine these days 🥰

Hello mat dear M what a beautiful and kind comment - thank you so much. Yes, curly big hair, easier to manage so leaving it, less work 😂🤦🏽♀️. Queen was good and yes, it cut off. When I was trying to download it over from iMovie to YT it wouldn't take it - it took about 12 goes before it decided to accept it. I understand that there as glitches sometimes as YT are trying to support millions of people, so it's ok - the main content was there! I'm much better but other things to sort 😞, but I keep shuffling! Hope you had a lovely Easter M and that it was lovely, peaceful and just how you would wish it to be and more! 🙋🏽♀️❤️x

Curious as to why you didn't watch Live Aid. You said you heard a bit of Madonnas set. Were you not into rock/pop in the 80s?

@@GinMae I don't take requests I'm afraid as I don't get paid for that and give a lot of free time already. Also my playlist is already very very long. As you can imagine I get many recommendations which cannot be met as they run in the 1000s but thank you. I will try and watch in my free time, when I get it - and I did hear about it. How strange, I'm contacting Brian soon - weird timing. A bit like you, busy bouncing everywhere but still giving my time to this - which is a tremendous amount of work but it's good and I've learnt a lot, and met lot of niec people who are loyal and die-hard fans. My editing skill have increased too 🤦🏽♀️!. Just got word from YT that I've hit 2 million views, not bad for an older woman! Have a great weekend.

Forgive me but I'm confused. At 00:30 you say that the only person you actually saw, 'because you were really busy that day' was Madonna. To have had any appreciation of what went on on that day, almost 37 years ago, you would have to have been at least 10 years old and I'm sure you don't look a day over 35, let alone 47! People would pay to go along and do all the singing themselves - as long as Freddie was there to conduct them! Only a band like Queen could get away with performing a self-penned song called 'We Are The Champions'!

Hello Ray - I love your comments 😂🤦🏽♀️. And yes, you are absolutely correct in fact I'm a little older, not much but proud of it! I'm up against the younger You Tubers and people like us are not catered for, so I'm changing that, plus my SLC family is growing with younger viewers who have intelligence, taste and a sense of wanting to learn about things years ago, thus sewing it into their lives, which can only create a better existence, rather than junk food for their brains which seems to be how life is going - such a shame. Talent like Queen will never be seen again, as everyone wants quick wins without the hard work so their sustainability is non-existent. 15 minutes then 'next'! Have a wonderful weekend. Psyche 🙋🏽♀️🌹✨
