This is such a beautiful song. Brian wouldn't let anyone else touch this song after Freddie had died because he said he knew exactly how Freddie wanted this song to be. I have a hard time not getting teary whenever I hear it when Brian comes in and does the last verse. The beauty of this is that Freddie sort of got the meaning of life as he got to the end, that being that unconditional love is what really matters all the rest is just the glitter and the noise. The baby crying (in my opinion) is because when we are looking at the end, we all want that touch of our mother that we had when we were born and when we were so small. That safe and loving place where we know only peace. It took me a bit to warm up to Adam Lambert but as I heard him do a few Queen songs, I realized he was not trying to be Freddie or in any way imitate Freddie, he sings the songs his way and they are actually beautiful. I appreciate that Adam has enabled Queen music to be delivered to a couple more generations and that is a wonderful thing. Imagine if you never heard Queen what you would be missing and so it goes for all the others too.

Well said dear!! Yes, Adam Lambert is another God-given talent to be appreciated, not hated... he never has tried to be Freddie's 'replacement'... yet he does Freddies' music justice... keeping it beautiful and true... Thank you and blessings to you and yours...

If you hear the ending...it's all songs Queen did back to the first recording Freddie did as Larry lurex "I think I'm going back to things I learnt so well in my youth" then the baby crying as back to his birth. Its from death to birth.

“CHILLING” … Roger said of Freddie’s vocals. Brian said, “Freddie would say ‘give me words, I will sing’ .. so there I was writing on scraps of paper these lines of Mother Love. I would give him a line, he would sing it, then sing it again, then sing it again - so we only had three takes of everything.” 😭😭

You can hear the raw emotion in Brian’s voice as he sings the final verse that Freddie couldn’t finish. It’s a very sad song but Freddie gave it all he had and it has a haunting beauty to it. Great reactions!

Before the ending you can hear the beginning of One Vision (Freddie saying "God works in mysterious ways" with a distorted voice), then Freddie and the crowd in the Live Aid, then those lot of strange sounds being played very fast are every song of Queen, but only a few milliseconds and then the song Going Back, which was a song Freddie did a cover under the name of Larry Lurex before all the Queen albums.

I have tried repeatedly to watch QAL performances and in their early days I managed a few but in the last few years I cannot. Like others I am glad new generations are listening to Queen and indeed Freddie seems as well revered now as back in the day. AL has an amazing voice but no one has Freddie’s phrasing, nor the humanity I hear in the timbre of his voice and most certainly not the athleticism of his stage presence. Not sure I can do him justice but I will try …… It was as if you take all the very finest premium grade ingredients mixed with a bit of gravel, the humour of eccentricity & reality that made Freddie jaw droppingly amazing. You reaction was similar to mine … that heart sink when Brian starts to sing … almost as if it was a shock that the reality of his death hit you despite the fact you were aware he died over 30 years ago! I read someone else felt Winters Tale was a better last song to remember him by and whilst I agree with that, I also know that the truth of him letting go was this acceptance stage in his demise. He was a very brave and dignified man 👑❤️👑❤️👑

This song was the last Freddie sung. He sung it in 1991 and it was released in 1995 in the album Made In Heaven. It was written by him and Brian. He sang every line 3 times and they would take the best, but he couldn't sing the last part, so Brian had to sing it.

Adam Lambert will tell you himself that there is only one Freddie Mercury, but Roger and Brian approached him about performing together after they heard him sing back around 2008. Brian and Roger really enjoy performing classic Queen songs and there is an audience who wants to hear the songs since they have been selling out stadiums. When they did the tribute concert, they had to got several singers to perform the songs because their catalog is so eclectic, nobody could sing all of their songs, but Brian and Roger found that Adam could sing all the different genres of Queen music. Brian and Roger have been having fun visiting arenas that they played years ago and Adam has said that he’s happy that he’s able to perform the classic songs and he enjoys hearing stories from Brian and Roger about the first time they were at a particular venue. Brian and Roger are very happy that they found Adam. Brian said in the documentary The Show Must Go On that many bands break up but if you are lucky enough to find that magic, you should hold onto it and he said they’ve been lucky that they have found that magic twice now.

Beautiful and heartfelt reaction. Thank you. Freddie belts out an unbelievable note in the 2nd verse. That beautiful voice stayed with him to the end. I'm like you, I don't care for Adam Lambert singing Freddie's songs. I saw one act where he came out wearing a crown! OMG! I hated that! No one can replace Freddie, nor are they worthy of wearing the crown. Nothing against Lambert, he's a good singer, just don't like him doing Freddie.

OMG. when are you people going to give Adam a break. He didn’t kill Freddie. If you don’t like him, don’t go and don’t listen. I have always been a huge Freddie fan, but he died 30 years ago and Brian and Roger want to carry on and Adam is fantastic. The “new group” is filling arenas all over the world and making fans happy. Give it up and let it rest.

This is one of those songs where Brian remarks “he kept saying, give me words, just give me words to sing.” And Brian did. It is about Freddie, and all hope was gone. In the end Freddie stops all the medications, they weren’t helping and he’d made his peace. Love the album cover shot. I also recommend Goin’ back. Such a Carole king song & Freddie’s vocals are angelic. Yea sorry, Adam ain’t it IMO. I’m happy that Brian & Roger get to continue playing live, but I’ve got no interest.

@@bluebell3720 you know Freddie was sitting beside Brian, helping him write the lyrics discarding any lyric he didnt want in the song. He just couldn't physically write, Brian has always written songs FOR freddie putting himself in Freddie's shoes. Show must go on, Save me, Fat bottomed girls. I promise you they both knew Freddie better than your random ass and knew what he wanted. He confided in them, they know when his hope had left him, they both were impacted by his death more than you will ever know, it drew Brian to commit suicide till the point he had to check himself in a clinic coz he had kids at home. Do everyone a favour and do shut up. Stop projecting bad faith just because you hate Brian and Roger, you just come across as extremely bitter and nothing else

The final song co-written by Freddie & Brian, recorded May 13 - 16, 1991. Freddie was too ill to ever return to the studio but Brian finished it. The band lovingly finished it and released it in 1995. This experience emotionally broke Brian who fell into a depression. But Brian and Roger pay heavy tribute to Freddie in their current Queen concerts. Queen lives on an on!

Oh Cash dear, NEVER be apologetic for being emotional!! That just shows you are human... And, after all is said and done, isn't that truly why we love Queen so much, because they show us the emotional sides of ourselves... master manipulators of emotions!! All the more reason the world NEEDS more Queen today, to show the world what being human is all about!! You cannot appreciate the love in the world without seeing the darkness also... If you go back and listen to the very first "Freddie" song released to the public, it wasn't Freddie. It was Larry Lurex. "Goin' Back" and "I Can Hear Music" were Freddie's intro to the world of music(he was asked to test ut their new equipment at Trident Studios, so Freddie taped a couple of songs), and they are doozies! Then, you will understand the references to the baby crying in "Mother Love"... Bless you dear, you are one-of-a-kind also!! Thank you so much for being you!

Thirty years Freddie's been gone . . .not many more years and these last lyrics Freddie sang will have been promoted to imply he was looking backward to the peace that was his Mother's womb. Throughout his life he looked forward totally - only looking back for inspiration to take us forward...peaceful, loving habits; beauty in sight and sound and appreciation for loving experiences. Research, read what Freddie said about the incomparable love Mary Austin gave him. "Mother Love" lyrics written by Freddie do not reference his birth Mother.

Baby crying at the end: death & rebirth, the cruel cycle of nature - that kind of thing. Symbolism inserted as silver lining as well as to point out how natural death actually is. The seagulls are there because Freddie's favorite place was lake Geneva's shores where he also died.

All this senseless violence literally makes me sick. My heart aches for every single person that was brutally murdered in the supermarket mass shooting on May 14th in Buffalo, New York, and the families and friends that they left behind. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 May those that were injured, yet survived this horrific attack have a speedy recovery. This is a beautiful track. The background of this clip shows a bronze statue of the late, great Freddie Mercury facing Lake Geneva, in Montreux, Switzerland. Unveiled in 1996, it's located near Freddie's house, where he made his last album.

Freddie sang as much as he did here from May 13-16, 1991 at their studio in Montreaux, Switzerland. Brian says Freddie was too ill to continue that day & planned to come back to finish it. That never happened. But as another comment below points out, he DID film the video "These Are The Days Of Our Lives' afterwards on May 30, 1991 in London, England. And you've seen how worn out he looks there.

Brian & Roger enjoy playing & performing. They have performed with a couple others , billed as “Queen +” whoever. As Taylor Hawkins said “You can’t keep those Lamborginis in the garage”, referring to Roger & Brian. There are many new younger fans, and they enjoy hearing/discovering Queen music. It’s a personal choice. Even Adam says “There’s only ONE Freddie Mercury!” Also… so much tragedy & unjust hate in the world. Buffalo is just tragic 🥲

I enjoyed your reaction to Mother Love.. Freddie’s last song. I’ve watched many different interviews made by Brian and Roger about this time period.. and how they all struggled through it, with their Dear Freddie. They wanted to honor his wishes to keep pushing forward with songs.. until he could no longer. I’ve also watched many interviews they’ve given about how they found Adam.. and how he’s given them (Roger and Brian) the opportunity to continue to tour and sing their songs.. Freddie’s songs. Without Adam.. they wouldn’t be able to do so. They knew Freddie very well.. they’ve both said Freddie would want his music to continue.. just to never be boring, and Adam isn’t boring. Adam has always honored Freddie; never tried to imitate him.. just do justice to the amazing songs he wrote. All of the performers at the Freddie tribute concert admitted that none of them could have sung but a couple of Freddie’s songs (in the same key Freddie sang them) Adam can sing them all. He has an amazing voice.. if you haven’t already, you should react (or at least listen) to his tribute to Cher at the Kennedy Honors. I think you’d like it! Thanks again for a heartfelt reaction.

Great, thanks! I think this is all a bit too new to you to consider reacting to Q+AL and that's alright... Let it soak into your bones and consciousness a few more years. But also, try to imagine what Brian & Roger had to overcome to keep themselves let alone their love of Freddie and Queen alive. The keyboard player for this band, Spike Edney, started playing with Queen in '84 to free Freddie from sitting at the piano. For a long time Roger's son was the 2nd drummer, and now it's a guy who played in their musical "We Will Rock You" for several years. Did you know there's a musical? LOL! SO Much To Enjoy!! You'll get to Adam one day. Imagine the position HE''s in - everyone comparing him to their beloved Freddie... his voice is versatile and his range is amazing, he works really hard and Bri & Rog love him like a baby brother so it's sweet to see their music live to this day - 50 years later! Crazy.

You definitely have a ton of Original Queen and Freddie ( and others ) solo stuff that you don't have to worry about Adam right now. Still think you need to do Dancer or other songs from Hot Space. I think you'd like it a lot cuz it's just so different. Delilah would be a fun reaction also. Quirky!

Of course any who read my comments know I think Freddie' lyrics Did Finish His Song "MOTHER :LOVE"...no more new lyrics were expected cause he memorialised the special love he had experienced, 'no other lover could match/surpass' the love Mary Austin gave him....included Mother Love....and he felt it to the end wanted -- intended she know it. Unfortunately, another thought was introduced with the added lyrics. Freddie planned a last song singing to 'his woman' . . . he says it. He left ample space for the Guitar solo and an appropriate conclusion to the track...the technology not to make it seem he expected, anticipated being reborn.....well..... Oh me...
