Queen fans has seen this. We pay a lot of attention to how this song is “ reacted “ to.

Brian and freddie wrote it together basically. But freddie was so ill that brian did the phisical writing. But of course it was meant for freddie, and brian made sure it expressed freddies feelings at that time. Show must go on is the same story, Brian wrote it from freddies persective. Too much love will kill you, though, is different cause it was about brian’s marriage falling apart

“I’m not gonna cry … nope not gonna … “ 😭😭😭 OMG!! The outro of this song wipes me out! Hearing Freddie’s AAYY OOHH .. then .. “Think I’m goin’ back to the things I learnt so well in my youth.” 😭😭😭 TY

This was the last song Freddie recorded and always a tough listen because of the lyrics...especially when Brian May comes in at the last verse because you know when he recorded that Freddie was gone. Freddie was a warrior. The last song Freddie wrote A Winters Tale is very positive and full of joy for the world.

I also hope Freddie found peace, he so deserved it.

A winters tale. I believe Freddie wrote it from his bed looking out the window. Cool cat Please do Back Chat I’m going slightly mad, plus watch the making of going slightly mad. By this time Freddie’s foot was so deteriorated he was in such pain. Some say this song was about his view of things through his medication. He wore extra clothes. Partly to hide his weight loss and partly his clothes and he had special ones against his painful skin from the lesions due to sarcoma. The lyrics shows he could push through and still was strong an desire to be creative. 🥲

This has to be the saddest song ever written. I don't think we can be sure who the mother in the song is. Freddie was very close to Mary, but he was also very close to his mother. The line "Mother, please, let me back inside is a wish to return to the womb. And at the very end there is "Going Back" all the way to the baby's cry. Freddie was only able to be present in the studio for short periods at this time, It's amazing to think of the strength of the man who could no longer stand upright for long, able to push these beautiful sounds out of his frail body. A thoughtful reaction as always, Rory.

Singing till the end keeping him alive as said Roger and Brian explained that Freddie said "write me things, write me things”… But for this song, he was too tired to sing the last verse and he said he will come back, “but he never came back” (this was recorded in Montreux (Switzerland) where they had a studio and where Freddie was in peace, no paparazzi). The last album, Made in Heaven, was made without Freddie, 3 or 4 years after his death…

It was Freddie that stoped his meds (except pain) once he knew/felt there was no where to go. There's a video of an interview with Mary that touches upon that end period and his decision. You have that other Larry Lurex song to listen to, which is heard at the end of the sound montage of this song ("Goin' Back") from 1973.

Can't ruin my day with Queen. Hard to hear, yes, but a superb song and worth the time and attention. Always miss you Freddie!

Bittersweet for me. This is the last song Freddie sang and Brian had to finish the final verse. There was no video for this song. Thank you again, Rory. I have always thought that this song was probably about Mary Austin who was with him until the end and truly was the love of his life, the one he always knew he could count on. When everyone else failed him, Freddie said, I always have Mary and that is enough. She was everything to Freddie that he could let her be, and he loved her with all of his heart. They were bonded souls so yes, I do believe this song is about Mary. Freddie wrote the song, Brian finished it for Freddie. Brian would not let anyone else touch this song because he said he knew exactly what Freddie wanted it to be. So it was tucked away until Brian was strong enough to come back to the studio and finish it. The band did take a break for a year then they went back in the studio to start on their next album. So though there was a two year span, only one year of it was the band being apart.

I hope you will be continue in your reactions to Queen albums, I love it, I love your reactions, thank you. Brian said, that it was heartbreaking and very hard for them to record their last album without Freddie and hear his voice

It's the end of the song that gets me every time. When they play the ahohs from live aid and singing I'm going back from his 1st recording.
