Said it once and will say it again, de difference between a singer and an artist is whether or not they communicate feelings. James is just a great guy that talks to people, young and old. Once again they are meaningful and timeless lyrics. As always, he lives the Riff Life, master of the tune that sticks with you the rest of the day!

No tight "Chuhga, Chuhga", which was Metallica's trademark, especially between chord changes, rather than letting the chords ring through to the next one, like this. More Motorhead/Punk like drive to it. Last album I owned was the Black album. "James sounds great!" was a funny comment, as it's just his voice. Cool, but he's no singer. He tried during the Kill Em' All Tour (in "Cliff Em' All"), and quickly found his "Real voice", which sounds great, except when every line ended with a "Yah/"Yar" like pirate sound, lol. Which I didn't notice here (and haven't at all as much lately)..? It works, but became overdone and joked about, and he seems to be very aware of this, and not relying on it, but back to using it for emphasis at the moment. While I love Kirk, he seems at his best early on, when playing/improvising what Dave Mustaine had written. This "style" seems more apparent up to And Justice For All. Dave was more technical and precise, while Kirk has a more bluesy, emotional side. It is great to hear the actual bass line, for sure! Most 80's and 90's Metal mixes were almost absent when it came to the bassist. Obviously, they were just playing along with the rhythm guitar, or played the rhythm part on bass, we figured, and often were right. Who were the great "Thrash Metal" (before countless genres) bassists..? What's great now, is that we can separate the bass from the mix in these older recordings. Cliff should have always been higher up in the mix, as well as Jason. Rob sounds fantastic here. That's the one improvement with Metallica albums this century. Great, killer bass, that's prominent in the mix. I'm 55, and as teens, we used to wonder "Where's The Bass?!" ("Where's The Beef?!"/A Wendy's commercial way back then, lol). I wish pretty young women liked Metallica in the early days..!? Our girlfriends (very pretty) always put up with it, but very, very few were fanatics like guys. It's great to see that change, as this music should be felt and heard in the same way by anyone, at least in how it seems to build adrenaline up. Great review!👍💯✌️🙏

We all hope that someday Kirk will wake up and decide to write a classic solo instead of improvising with wah :) He has some really well written solos on his solo album, but it seems like with Metallica he just prefers to improvise
