As it was pointed out to me, the black & white with gold accents echoes the movie posters for A Star Is Born. I love this one !

Hello Jesse. Loved your reaction. You are getting to know what PTX can do while also knowing that they will do something unexpected. Yes, their videos are always intentional. They did a beautiful job on this. Kirstie sharp and belting and the duet with Scott - they were just beautiful and singing with such passion. Kevin with the cello is such a nice touch and with the beat-boxing. Matt on the bass underneath. Mitch on those beautiful sounds on the bridge, taking it up with more passion - just beautiful. So glad that you are enjoying PTX.

A great vehicle for both Kirstie and Scott. Their voices are made for this song, in my opinion. It's another example of how Pentatonix uses each vocal to maximum effect in every song. Mitch and Matt were not prominent, but used their skills to underpin the lead parts and make the arrangement so much fuller. Also great to see Kevin featuring his cello-boxing! (The instrument is pronounced "chello," by the way.) It was a special treat seeing you enjoy the song so much. Thanks for sharing the fun with us!

Oh, poor Jesse will get as confused as me. It's spelled cello in English and (in my case) Swedish, but pronounced differently. So now when I say it I cannot for the life of me remember which version is which language. In Swedish we say it the same as he did in this video. I was talking to my mum about Kevins cello boxing and she corrected my prononciation since I used the english one.. and since then I go on an infinite loop of the 2 prononciations whenever I have to say the word, haha.
@kayecastleman63532 жыл бұрын
@@hernameispekka_Rebecca I have only sympathy for non-English speakers trying to pronounce our language based on its written form! The etymology of our words is so varied that it is often impossible to predict pronunciation. German is so much more clear in that respect, and even French. It is so confusing that we often accept multiple pronunciations of some words, especially if they have been recently borrowed from another language. Here we sometimes use the word "cello" as a short form of the word "cellophane" (both with the "s" rather than "ch" sound), but I've never heard the instrument referred to as anything but a "chello." As a former teacher of English as a Second Language, I can't stop "helping" others with their pronunciation!
@JesseReacts2 жыл бұрын
Its well appreciated Kaye. I actually recognize what you are saying on the english pronunciation. Like Rebecca said i just kept it on how most people in the Netherlands say it. It actually also was the name of an internet provider during the dail up days 😅 they actually use the name Chello. Cellophane is also similar here which is called cellofaan. But we don’t use cello for that, instead we use “not that aluminium, but plastic like roll” 😅 haha no to be fair i am actually not sure if a chello player in the Netherlands also would say my pronunciation is wrong. Thanks for the nice words!! 😄 was a fun song for sure

There's one thing you can say about English - it's nothing if not INconsistent on pronunciation and spelling.

Thanks! to be fair i know this song quite well, but been playing and singing a bunch of music. I do feel like in pop music it’s rare i am really really surprised in ways songs get build. Maybe the first time, but even during a song you will recognize the way a song is building to a climax, or a little riff/medley that might get repeated. Its no dig at pop or rock or anything, its what draws people in and makes you able to feel the music really quick. At least to me. At some points you just know how many beats the drummer has to go and which options might be there to go over those beats. Love how suprising and creative PTX gets there though.

Love this version of the song! I love Kirstie's emotional singing, and Kevin's cello (however you pronounce it, LOL!) is such a nice addition for this song. And the nod to the movie posters just shows how much attention to detail PTX gives to their videos.
@JesseReacts2 жыл бұрын
Again the detail for sure, super amazing. Didn’t knew the poster well enough though. And yeah pronunciation… i just say “that’s how we call it in dutch” 😆 make sure to add the H next time :p

I love this one so much. Mitch, Kevin, and Matt take it up to 11 at the end! ETA: "If one was left out, it would not be the same." See Dancing on My Own, recorded after Avi left and before Matt came on.

You like how the members echo each other. You are right. They can't lose one member. All five are necessary. Scott started an a cappella group for young people 8-16 years old called "Acapop Kids". They did a really neat rendition of "Shallow" and have 15 or more videos on their channel. Scott and PTX's co-arranger, Ben Bram, arrange their music. BTW cello is an Italian word, so the "C" is pronounced like "CH"...so it is pronounced "Chello".

Celia i love how they are paying things forward to the youth! Someone mentioned my pronunciation and i recognize what you’ll saying. I try and remember it, but been saying it (the dutch way?) for 32 years now hehe
