This song is actually about : being depressed, being a piece of the machine that is capitalism. Everything in life brings problems and it just get worse. But to forget about this all we dance, we dance to forget, things get worse and when it doesn't stop we put the music louder and dance harder. But it continues so we close off our ears and start singing (to not hear or feel our problems) and when it finally dies a bit down we still continue dancing. (to froget everything is bad and is going wrong) The real meaning of this song is lost in translation often because there is a lot of symbolism (tied to both belgian and french culture) and nuance tied to it. Stromae, goes really really deep in what he writes. It's one of my favourites because it's so relatable.

She was born in Canada, and at the end of her father's mission, the whole family returned to France. This was his first hit, there's much more in his second album : "Papaoutai" (about the absence of a father model), "Formidable" (story of a break up, filmed with hidden cameras in the streets of Brussels), "Tous les mêmes" (about a couple fight where he plays both characters), "Carmen" (about social media addiction), "Ta fête", "Quand c'est ?" (about cancer), "Ave Cesaria" (tribute to Cesaria Evora)... He also takes great care of the visual part of his works, design his own clothes, creates choreographies...

If you like Stromae, you should listen to Jacques Brel a great Belgian singer, we often compare Stomae to Brel, especially for the talent and the poetry of the texts ! kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2Pann6Zd9Jnf80 kzbin.info/www/bejne/paezqIifncaJmqc kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoeuiJypmrN6i7c ... Enjoy 😉

He didn't stop his career. He just put it on hold to avoid being forced to repeat himself. Most girls of his age don't even know that guys in their early 20s can already have reached a level of wisdom most of the older claptrap sellers they're longing for can only dream of. Ladies, I might leave the subject here, but remember: the 18 or 20 yr old morons you consider shallow and childish will never magically change into the interesting, attentive and caring 40 somethings you secretly fancy. Yes, 16 yr olds who are more mature than you do exist, but you'd rather be caught dead than be seen in their company. They know that and prefer to have you make your own mistakes.

Although he does some good music tracks, his fame is also because of the lyrics and the "poetry" of rap and his delivery. I understand it might be difficult to get in a foreign language. French music is full of those gems, because we tend to be "lyric oriented", so they do not export well.

4:43 You see the movement you make with your body it's the result of an effect in the production it's called the sidechain the sidechain was put on the sax. This effect aims to give a pump effect on the saxophone for letting the kick stand out. It's very complicated to explain but that's what makes you want to move

For me, STROMAE's best song thus far is PAPAOUTAI, it's a phonetic way of writing 'papa où t'es' (= dad where are you) bc he lost his dad at a young age due to civil war in Rwanda. It mixes electro with african music patterns

" Alors on danse " is the Stromae's first hit. He recorded the single at home , with a computeur + synthesizer . All the music is electronical. It is Belgian house music ! His lyrics are very sad. He dances to forget the difficult reality. For the video " Formidable " , Stromae should REALLY have an OSCAR ! Stromae = Maestro = Maître = Master.
