The whole Suprman meme to me is clearly a metaphor for the songwriter himself wondering if the girl acknowledges his efforts in the relationship and if she will be there if he should stumble, or will she be his kryptonite and just sap all of his strength in the course of things. The old man in the video is a symbol that further reinforces the idea of going to any lengths to help someone who really needs you in a rather comical way. I find this song fascinating in its meaning and besides it's a kickass banger 💯👍

3 Doors Down was pretty big back in the day. They have a few really solid songs! I actually met Brad Arnold (lead singer) at the Rainbow Bar here in LA some years back. One of the nicest guys ever. Even bought our table a round of beer. But there are quite a few really solid bands that cropped up around that time. Three Days Grace, Seether, Breaking Benjamin, Shinedown, Fuel, Tantric, Hinder, Candlebox, etc. Jump down the rabbit hole and check them out :)

I believe the video is about an aging superhero who is still trying to find purpose in his life. The song itself is about someone asking their best friend or significant other would they still love them and appreciate them if they're health or sanity went down when they got old.

To me the song represents a person being protective, strong, and caring like superman but the person who is receiving all those things does not appreciate it. So the lyric that states If I go crazy ( or loose his temper and go off on that person) will they still see them as a friend or their superhero. The person he is referring to is his weakness that will make him put up with more or take more abuse than anyone else because they are his kryptonite (his weakness).

We want to help the sick ones and be there for them, but we punish the healthy ones by not being there. Do me a favor: hug your parents and grandparents today. First time watching your channel and you did a great reaction! Big fan of this song and band. Has a lot of meanings to different people. The Superman connection is valid because someone can be big and strong when they are young and then when they are older they don’t feel as useful or able to do what they once did. Also the friend comparison that you kept a friend from doing drugs is valid. The lead singer was an admitted drug user I believe and that could be a comparison to a “sponsor” or friend that helps you through rehab and still treats you like a normal person and not a “former addict” maybe??? Great song and could fit a lot of personal scenarios

Heard an idiot play this song at an open mic night with just an acoustic guitar. He played the chords all right and the singing wasn’t off or anything, but I felt bad for him that he didn’t realize this is one of those songs that NEEDS the percussion. That driving drum beat is the difference from this being an “okay” song to a really good one.

These guys were great back in their club says! I watched them get started in the local clubs where i live at the Jersey shore! They started by laying their own music in the local clubs of Wildwood and Atlantic city and all up and down the Jersey coastal towns. I think thgey also played in Philly and N.Y. at times? Kryptonite is of course the material that renders Superman powerless. It's radioactive fragments of his original home planet Krypton following its destruction. Kryptonite varies in color and strength : Green K will kill Superman ; Yellow/Gold K merely weakens him ; Red K has unpredictable and bizarre effects on him... Referencing "kryptonite" means something that renders weakness, or can even have (metaphorical or literal) lethal effects on someone that is otherwise an incredibly strong and penetrable person. For example, let's say a guy goes through life unaffected by women and their feminine wiles ; he enjoys them, but none can get any sway over him - he is able to resist all their charms - he is too "powerful". But then along comes someone like Bisscute, lol, and now he has no defenses and is completely taken with her - she becomes his "Kryptonite".

'Kryptonite' was the radioactive metal from Superman's birth world of Krypton that would rob Superman of his powers and could kill him w/ prolonged exposure... I think 3 Doors Down were referring to a girl that is the singer's weak spot and likely fatality... But they released a bunch of bore after that... Matt Roberts (guitar) left 3 Doors Down in 2012 and died in 2016 at age 38. 3 Doors Down had become irrelevant since...

The song is not about Superman at all. Brad Arnold did write this song, along with others, when he was 15 or so but as to the meaning Brad says this song is a question. As it turns out, it was a rather prophetic one. "Its question is kind of a strange one. It's not just asking, 'If I fall down, will you be there for me?' Because it's easy to be there for someone when they're down. But it's not always easy to be there for somebody when they're doing good. And that's the question it's asking. It's like, 'If I go crazy, will you still call me Superman?' It's asking, 'If I'm down, will you still be there for me?' But at the same time, 'If I'm alive and well, will you be there holding my hand?' That's kind of asking, 'If I'm doing good, will you be there for me? Will you not be jealous of me?' And maybe throughout the years of singing that song, I might have come up with more meanings for it than it actually might have originally had," he laughs. The fact that he wrote this song when he was only 15 doesn't seem remarkable to Brad, because, he says, "every 15-year-old has those questions in their head. They might not know quite how to say it, or they might not feel like it's acceptable to say something. And the biggest thing that I've had as an honor to be able to do is to be able to say something, and after I say it, it's okay. After an artist says it, if a rock star says it, okay, it's fine. That really boils down to why rock and roll inspires pop culture so much, or just music in general, not just rock and roll. Because artists push the envelope, and they go out on a limb to say something else. But it also comes with responsibility; you gotta watch what you say, because kids listen. And I try to watch what I say, too."

The word you missed on the wall was Loitering. It's written across the top of the wall: "No Loitering". Then below it says "Loiterers will be prosecuted". If you're not aware loitering is just hanging around in one spot. So it's basically telling you not to stop or the police could come along and arrest you.
