Igor Krutoy wrote the song for Dimash’s range. Igor is a famous Russian composer/music mogul (worth 13 billion) who came out of retirement in 2018 to work with Dimash, (you’ve already reacted to Love is Like a Dream that Igor also wrote, the year Dimash was born). It’s an uplifting song which Dimash sang at the opening ceremony of the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. It’s basically a very positive song that states you can do it, if you put your mind to it! It is being discussed for Dimash to sing the song at the Tokyo Olympics 2021....so I really hope that happens, it’s a perfect song for the Olympics! It’s an Italian song (as most Opera songs tend to be)...

Hi! I was there too! Was so confused with the name because it was only a few months after they changed it and everyone said it different (many still using the old name). All my plane tickets to and from there were different. Edit: This is a long shot but by any chance did you drive all the way there? There were some Spanish people who drove all the way there...and further down to Almaty

Looooove this song! Thanks for reacting. Yes, the drums give the song such high octane energy. Krutoy was inspired by Dimash’s range and wrote this song specifically for him. I’m pretty sure Krutoy has never written anything like this, but such is the power of Dimash’s voice! Please check out Know and Daididau next. Both are beautiful songs, more of a pop feel compared to Olympico, but slow and powerful. Know was written for Dimash and Daididau is a Kazakh folk song. Dimash also plays a dombra, a traditional instrument, during his performance of Daididau.

Qudaibergen is the correct Kazakh spelling of Dimash's last name. If memory serves, just after Dimash set up his Official You Tube channel, one of Dimash's fan clubs suggested the English (Americanized) spelling, possibly, because it was difficult to find his channel. Dimash accepted the suggestion. Similarly, the Russian spelling adds "ov" to his last name.

It is the 3 alphabet change in the last 100 years. 1929 Kazakhstan changed from Arabic writing to Latin, 1940 - to Cyrillic and now again to Latin. President Nazarbayev justified it by saying that 90% of the information in the world is conveyed in Latin letters. There is also the option of changing the russified form of the name with endings -ov or -ev to Kazakh one. This is why Dimash is sometimes written as Kudaibergenov - Russian form and sometimes as Kudaibergen - Kazakh form. After the writing reform - Qudaibergen.

Sometimes when a song is written for a singer, other singers perform it later. In this case, it's hard to imagine that there are few if *any* other singers who could perform this well. It is meant to be an uplifting song to drive you forward in any aspect of your life. I always feel energized by the song. It was originally composed for Dimash by Maestro Igor Krutoy for the European Games. He sang it as they carried out the Olympic flag for the opening ceremony. They are just a magical duo. If you would like to see a softer side of Dimash you could check out his MV for Akkuym which has subtitles. It is an old Kazakh I guess folk song. I guess the different way of writing the surname (K or Q) is a result of the letters. Sorry, this sounds weird, but I try to explain... Translated from Cyrillic it is a "K". But Kazakhstan is switching from the Cyrillic to the Latin way of writing. This process is planed to be finished in 2025. I heard this is done to separate a bit more from the Russian past and going back to the time before that part of history. In the Latin typing his Surname is going to start with a "Q". 🇩🇪

Yeah, it's also why the Kazakhstan sign in the capital is spelt Qazaqstan. If it makes it easier on people just consider it a foreign spelling because that's what it is...except it's the original language so the K is used for foreign spelling.

Was commissioned for European Olympic Games opening ceremony (by Igor). If you watch the Olympic game version it’s kinda boring cuz the camera mostly just follows the Olympic flag being marched around the stadium. About the "K" and "Q" confusion. The Kazakh alphabet is in cyrillic letters but they are changing it to latin letters (the goal is to change it completely before 2031 I think). Looks like they used to translate both the cyrillic "қ" and "к" into the latin "K" but the sound of "қ" is much closer to "Q" and "Q" is the equivalent to "қ" in their new alphabet. So Құдайберген was written Kudaibergen but they are using Qudaibergen more and more. қазақстан was Kazakhstan but will now be written Qazaqstan. It's confusing (especially for a norwegian trying to learn Kazakh without any previous knowledge of turkic languages or the cyrillic alphabet) but it's fun to learn something new. And I have to admit, I often wish it was 2031 already, now I'm struggeling with both the cyrillic alphabet (42 letters) and the new latin alphabet (32 letters).
