wanted to give you one bit of info about marcus veltri, he has the born gift of perfect pitch. he can hear any sound and know the exact pitch of it. he can learn songs within seconds and hear chords differently than the average ear. very few have this gift. i have met two personally, insanity. some people see colors as well and can associate certain notes/pitches and intervals to specific colors.

Honestly perfect pitch isnt that rare, i have met quite a few people with it (or atleast partial perfect pitch) and i am sure you can lose it or develop it through your carreer

Yeah as Vedant said perfect pitch ain't that rare. Also there's another similar but slightly different acquired gift of acquired perfect pitch. Where artists that have played a certain instrument for a while will get a similar ability to hear and pick up on chords, play by ear, but often they can't transfer that ability to other instruments. There's also studies that have shown that there is a particular time window in the development of a child's brain that is the best time to acquire perfect pitch, as perfect pitch isn't only a thing that people can be born with.

Like my friend who plays the violin can identify notes played on any string instruments just by one listen so maybe you don't include him. Also even if its 1 in 10k we also gotta consider not everyone in the world is into music and if you aren't into music you most likely don't have perfect pitch. All of the people i know who have perfect pitch or sorta perfect pitch have been playing instruments since they were 6-7 years old so i m pretty sure there's a correlation there.
