The importance of Slughorn's memory was to know how many horcruxes Voldemort had created. Dumbledore already knew that he had created horcruxes. He realized that when he came into possession of the diary, but whether he just made 1,2,3,10 etc was unknown. But now they know he intended to make a seven-part soul because of the affinity of the number 7 in magic. So that means he will have six horcruxes. Six horcruxes, plus himself equals a seven-part soul.

Just a slight edit: is he already knew it was more than one, because the diary was already destroyed before Voldemort even managed to make a body; therefore, he had to have another soul fragment to rely on to keep existing, since he could no longer use the one from the diary anymore That, and Dumbledore also had the ring already

Voldemort can never know love, not because he grew up in an orphanage the huge thing the movies missed out was that Voldemort’s mom, Merope Gaunt is the descendant of Salazar Slytherin( one of the co founders of Hogwarts). She fell in love with a muggle boy, Tom Riddle Sr but he never even talked to her infact he had a gf as well. But Merope wanted him and slipped him some Love Potion and bewitched him. They got married and she kept slipping him Love potion over the years. But when she got pregnant, she thought he might have started loving her and might not leave now that she was pregnant, so she stopped giving him love potion. But he left because the magic had lifted. She gave birth to vodemort at a muggle orphanage and asked him to be named Tom Marvolo(merope’s father) Riddle Jr and then she died. And so Voldemort was born because of a Love Potion/fake love, and therefore could never love or understand the power of love (which is also considered ancient magic, and through which lily could save harry potter) thats one of tge reasons ehy Voldemort underestimates the Magic and power of love so much.

Also, Tom Riddle asking Slughorn about the Horcruxes was "an academical" question....sort of. Most people say, that Voldemorts first Horcrux was the diary, wich he created by killing Myrtel.... However, as you can see, he got his mothers ring, when he asked Slughorn. Thats important, because he got the ring, when he killed the Riddle family and blaimed his uncle Morfin. He used Riddle sr. to make the ring Horcrux....and they only met once, so he tried it, before asking Slughorn. Meaning he was 15 for the ring and 16 for the diary
@YungBrady5038 ай бұрын
@@thomasnieswandt8805 Actually, Voldemort had used killing his father Tom Riddle Sr. to create the ring horcrux. He had modified Morfin's memory to making him confess to the murders and take the fall for killing the Riddles. Morfin died in Azkaban prison.

Severus' mom's family name was Prince (Eileen Prince) and she was a pure-blood witch, but his father was a muggle (Tobias Snape), so that's why Snape gave himself the moniker of The Half-Blood Prince. The reason Professor Snape called himself The Half Blood Prince is because his mother who was a witch had the maiden name of "Prince". He loved his mother and was proud of her. But his muggle father was very abusive. Snape hated his father so much that he liked referring to himself as the Half Blood Prince rather than the name of his father's last name of "Snape" during his years as a student in Hogwarts. The ironic thing about Harry is he always had a hard time learning potions from Professor Snape. But the moment Harry found Snape's old text book with all of Snape's hand written notes and didn't realized that it had belonged to Snape Harry suddenly began to excel in potions. 📖⚗️🧪🪄

I've always found this a strange piece of fanon. Tom is not a psychopath because his mother used a love potion. The point of the love potion is that Merope's delusional infatuation with Tom Sr. caused her child to become an orphan. Tom was born neurodivergent due to the Gaunt genetic profile, but it was the hostile environment of his childhood, first the orphanage, then being sorted into Slytherin as a half blood with a muggle name, that made him violently anti-social. It was Merope's irresponsible actions that made Tom into Voldemort, but it's not as simple as "Merope used a love potion so Tom can't feel love".

All the Black family are named after stars/constellations except Narsissa. People named after flowers follow the Victorian flower code (for sending secret messages). Decode these and much of the story is a give-away. Well spotted that Ginny is similar to Harry's mother! Hermione has the same nature as Ron's mother.

I would say if you read the sixth HP book you would have SO much of the theory from it. This is one book where they focused a lot on the romance but the most interesting part of the book was Voldemorts backstory- his family background and how he came to be, why he might be the way he is, how he was a master manipulator, very charming (NOT creepy like they show in the movies). He was loved by everyone as he was handsome, charming and brilliant. Only Dumbledore didn’t buy his act and saw through it. That’s why most people who taught him or worked with him before he became “Voldemort” didn’t really think he was doing anything creepy. He was amazing at getting people to like him. In the book we also get a view of what he thinks is important (like the place where he hid the locket - and also why the locket) and why he chose certain things to be horcruxes. Also - book Harry and Ginny have waaaaay more chemistry so their relationship makes Sense

Professor Dumbledore's death was one of the most traumatic for Harry to witness. Right alongside his parents' murder at the hands of Voldemort when he was 15 months old, Cedric Diggory at the ratty (pun fully intended) hands of Wormtail during the last task of the Triwizard Tournament in that graveyard, and Sirius dying at the hands of his psychotic cousin Bellatrix Lestrange before he disappeared into the Veil in the Ministry Of Magic. Also, this is one of the few times Ron is shown to be intelligent in the movies. The scene on the Hogwarts Express where he's explaining the Unbreakable Vow to Harry, specifically. The wizard's chess scenes from Philosopher's Stone is another. I think another good example is the good questions he was asking in Chamber Of Secrets when Harry found that crumpled up book page in Hermione's hand.

And what's really hard to catch is the first time when he felt crushed was actually in the scene in Room of Requerements after he found the white bird dead (btw, it was canary, not dove) - you can hear him cries. Aanndd Ginny is absolutely gorgeous and badass in the books. It's so great that you've managed to catch it even thought it was so weakly presented. And their kiss in the book was more like Ron's first kiss was in the movie.

The good part for these two is, they do not get to wait a full year (or two) to get the next batch of answers. :)) I imagine it was a real trial for the original fans of the franchise to be left "hanging" time and again (and especially after "Half Blood Prince"!), knowing the next part will come... sometime... eventually.

Something sort of important from the 4th movie The Goblet of Fire that it doesnt tell you is that when Harry won the Tri Wizard tournament he gave the money he won to Fred and George to open up the shop we see in this movie. He also told them to buy Ron a new wand so thats how Ron has his new wand also in the last movie and on

In the cave, the bodies under water that began attacking Harry and Dumbledore were all the people Voldemort has murdered and bewitched them into what is called “inferi (kind of like a zombie army) and cursed to kill/drown anyone who disturbs the water”.

Hi! In the books Voldemort only taught Professor Snape how to fly without a broom. That scary looking guy is Fenrir Greyback. He is the werewolf who bit Remus Lupin when Lupin was 5 years old.

In other words: nothing important was shown or explained in this film, just teenage snot and drool. This is the worst film in the entire franchise, along with Deathly Hallows part two (I can’t decide which one is worse).
@benny64668 ай бұрын
@@usagi3093 Tell me what is so important about knowing that? At the end of the day the movie really was not that different from the book. They just didn't include like 2 memories that really weren't super important. Teenage snot and drool was all over the books as well. Chapters on chapters. Sorry voldys flying lesson was cut though.
@KatBee008 ай бұрын
@usagi3093 no the 5th was the worst. This one is gorgeous, and a much needed departure in tone from the prior films.

@@benny6466 a bit more of the book's explanation about Fenrir (not only is he a werewolf, but he specifically targets young children, he's almost overtly described as being a 'child predator' in addition to being a ruthless cannibal who eats babies, even when not transformed into a wolf. Giving this context (which maybe not appropriate for the age range the films were going for) would help add the feeling of horror when he approaches Ginny outside the Weasley's house. As it is, he just looks like a weird, hairy guy - as noted by the reactors here.
@benny64668 ай бұрын
@@jaybeepainting9413 Most reactors can tell hes a werewolf. It would be weird if the film introduced Fenrir as a pedophile baby eater while simultaneously not have any of the students say any cuss words the entire series besides bloody hell.

Really? to me this is easily one of the worst of the films. When I first watched the movies I was just confused, and then I read the books and rewatching just made it all the much worse because of how many details were omitted. It would've brought a lot more clarity.

Enjoyed the reaction as usual!! 🧙♂🤍I'm only half-way through now, but I wanted to point out two things for y'all: at around 2:57:00 you're talking about the etymology of the "Sectumsempra" spell -- You're totally right about the "sempra" part meaning something along the line of "always". The first part "sectum" stems from the latin "sectus" which means something like to cut/to divide. The spell basically caused Draco to be cut up in various places. Snape only knew how to heal it because he invented the spell, along with several other spells that became popular during his school time and were even used by James to bully him. Another thing I wanted to mention is something the movie doesn't really explain very well - the process of creating a Horcrux. Killing someone does rip the soul apart but does not automatically create a horcrux, as a special incantation is required + an object in which to seal the soul fragment. A death eater could kill dozens of people without ever choosing to create one. Voldemort already knew about Horcruxes, and in the book had already made one when he was inquiring Slughorn about it. He wasn't sure whether he could make multiple. This movie is my favorite, even though it's the least favourite of many fans because of it's chaotic nature and romance subplot. But for me, it has the most brilliant cinematography of all of the movies which contributes a lot to the overall atmosphere. There are dozens of very precise, symmetric shots and the colour grading really adds to it all - there's a lot of sepia tones that reflect the foreboding of the climax in HP 7. And Nicholas Hooper did an amazing job with the music, which is absolutely fantastic too. I really really would love to hear your guys take on the book/audiobook as it explores a lot more of Voldemort's past, Harry's quest in figuring out who the half-blood prince is and his conflicted feelings in regards to Ginny. Much love ♥

oh and yes, Jame's family are purebloods. Jame's father invented the sleekeazy's hair potion which became very popular and made them very wealthy. Hermione used the potion in the goblet of fire to prepare for the yule ball (book only).

During the skirmish in the swamp outside The Burrow, both sides were using NON-VERBAL SPELLS, something lightly touched upon in the books by this stage; there's a bit more of the practice in the book. My daughter went to the local bijou's midnight premiere of "TH-BP" all those years ago. When Snape did-in Dumbledore, she said the entire theater audience yelled out, "NOOOOOOOO!!!" at the tops of their lungs. Never before, and never since, has she witnessed such a crowd reaction.

Is because of the prophecy, remember the prophecy says "The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives..." that is why he thought they were the potters, they had a son just one year old, born in july and they were member of the order. 😊

1:35:31 The term Half-Blood in the Potter world indicates that the Witch or Wizard has a muggle parent and a magical parent. Voldemort IS a Half-Blood so at least you were in the ball park. However, given how much he values blood purity so much so that he used the Chamber of Secrets to kill muggle-borns, it was unlikely that he would be boasting about being Half-Blood and would never give himself such a name.

48:33 What you didn't catch there in that moment because you were making jokes, is that Draco was in that tower contemplating life... And he has said earlier in the movie, while in the train to Hogwarts, that he felt like jumping from that tower. He's literally isolated (in contrast to Ron and his girlfriend, and Harry and Hermione) struggling with s*icidal thoughts.

You guys are spot on with the whole "Love" concept. I don't remember what it was called but Harry's mom essentially used a "love" spell/magic to protect Harry. Love is basically the strongest form of Magic in the Harry Potter universe. And Voldemort is hell bent on proving that nothing, not even love, is stronger than he is.

It's significant how much presence the love potion makes in this movie along with Voldemorts back story... because Voldemort was conceived under a love potion spell...his mother put his muggle father under the spell...the consequences of a child being born in this circumstances is that the child will never experience love or empathy as in he/she will not be able to love . That's why Tom Riddle was the way he was and also in the last movie when he was possessing Harry when Harry told him amongst other things that he will never know love
