I believe the best thing about Jimmy Neutron is to show the stark difference between intelligence and wisdom. Jimmy is insanely intelligent/book smart but still operates under childhood thought processes. Talking to strangers, thinking girls are gross (very typical young boy behavior), not realizing that something's not right when ALL their parents apparently go to Florida.

Makes me think of the expanded book series off of Enders' Game. His sister and brother are basically changing the world through highly intelligent opposing discourse in chatrooms and such, more or less shaping world policy as kids/teens. At one point the story moves into the parents bedrooms and they are just talking about what their kids are up to. (The kids don't know the parents know). One of the parents basically makes a comment implying he/she is somewhat insulted the kids think they are so dumb. Points out "Don't they wonder where their intelligence came from?". It would be unlikely for Jimmy to be the level of child prodigy he is without at least one fairly intelligent parent.

So the reason the spaceships are open top is because production on Jimmy Nuetron was hell. They were the most advanced CGI animation outside of Pixar, and constantly dealt with data losses, electrical shorts, and animation faults like clipping, when an object phases through another solid. To prevent excess clipping from the bodies through spaceship glass, they nixed them during production, and skipped helmets so the characters could stay dynamic.

17:51 so something interesting about lord of the flies is that it's not really a realistic thing. there have been lots of showings that when kids in a large group are left unsupervised for extended periods of time, they might have chaos for a bit, but they actually start to develop order. there are lots of stories of teachers trying to replicate it before introducing the students to the book, only to find that the students behaved fairly well. most people have come to the conclusion that The Lord of the Flies is about if that situation happened with *upper class* boys essentially, with I think atleast one author writing about the same scenario occurring with a more down to earth group of youth who manage to make a makeshift society.
