Paul Carrack is so under rated. I strongly suggest you also check out his solo stuff starting with the beautiful 'EYES OF BLUE' Mike is the Guitarist....THE voice is Paul Carrack.

Paul Young on the left sadly has passed, he was in a 70s band called Sad Cafe, Paul Carrack with the hat was in Ace 1972, and how can I miss the Genesis guy ha ha

You may also want to check out the late 'Paul Young' (on the left in this video) He had a big hit with Sad Cafe called 'Every day Hurts" Paul also took the lead on the brilliant 'All I need is a miracle' by Mike & the Mechanics

Hi I agree with Jess I could listen to Paul Carrick all day. I went to see him in concert when he went solo. Brilliant. Yes Silent Runnings is my favourite. Love watching you two.

Mike (Rutherford) is the one on the right. The two Pauls (Carrack in the middle, Young on the left) would alternate as lead vocalist (depending on the style of lead vocal required). The band, in the form you see, was not destined to last - Paul Young (who was a phenomenal talent) sadly passed away in 2000. Thereafter, Paul Carrack went his own way. This song comes from the album "Beggar on a Beach of Gold". Paul Young leads on the title track of the album ("A Beggar on a Beach of Gold"), which had the same writers as "The Living Years" (BA Robertson and Mike Rutherford), but is much more upbeat and a favourite of mine. Honourable Mentions (in which Paul Young leads): (a) "All I Need is a Miracle" (the '96 version, in particular); and (b) "Word of Mouth".

There were two, very good, lead singers with "The Mechanics," Paul Carrack from the band( Ace )and Paul Young from (Sad Caffe). Sadly, Paul Young died aged 53. The band continued with Paul Carrack as the lone lead vocalist for only one album. A new line up is on tour at the moment.

Hi M&J, The Video for this song was shot just up the road from me, It was filmed in Chiddingfold, Surrey & features the church (St Mary's), village green & 'The Crown' pub, I think I bored you before about fitting Mike Rutherford's carpet quite a few years back! Quite lucky where I live as a lot of famous rock musicians live nearby including Roger Taylor, Eric Clapton, Kenny Jones, Dave Gilmour & Ringo Starr until a few years ago 🎸Love your reactions 🇺🇸💚🇬🇧✌️👍 X

Even though Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford, and Tony Banks disbanded Genesis in 2022 after more than 50 years, Mike Rutherford is still going strong . Next year Mike and the Mechanics are doing a tour of the British Isles, with some dates on mainland Europe too - the second tour for Mike since Genesis disbanded As others have mentioned , Mike Rutherford is the tall guy with the beard on the right. People say , including himself, that his singing voice isn't great, (although his speaking voice is very rich and posh), hence the excellent singers with the band over the years. The Living Years was filmed on and near the coast of Exmoor in south-west England. The beach and house are in Porlock Weir, from where the South West coastal path heads west through beautiful coastal woodland for about two miles to the small church featured in the video, at Culbone. The church can only be accessed on foot, or by four wheel drive cars along a lane and then a track. Then the lofty cliffs are about a further five miles further west, near Lynton and Lynmouth.

If you're a sucker for whistling in a song, you have to have a listen to Roger Whittaker, especially doing Mexican Whistler or Finnish Whistler. Dude sounds like he's playing a flute.

Jess .. you don't really hear Mike's voice .. Mike Rutherford is the one on the right (Genesis guitarist) .. the singer is Paul Carrack. Apparently, Paul recorded the whistling (which was supposed to be replaced later with saxophone or guitar) .. but when Mike heard it, he decided to keep the whistling in.

Met my wife at sixteen, I was always a bit wayward not in a really bad way, but never liked being told what to do, we got married at nineteen , I was a bit off a womaniser , we split for six month's went to prison for 3 months, then got back together an now been married for 53 years mostly happy, I try and do all I can to make my wife's life the best I can.

Hi, Mike and Jess! You have to react (for your own good 😅) to Camilo Sesto's live performance in 1977, when he was invited to a television show in Spain. Camilo bought the rights to the rock opera 'Jesus Christ Superstar', produced it and played Jesus, receiving praise from the composer of this work in English, Andrew Lloyd Webber. It doesn't come with English subtitles, but it's not difficult to get into the situation: Jesus walks away from his disciples and walks through the garden at night, a few days before his crucifixion, asking his Father why he forces him to go through this sacrifice, unable to understand that there is no other way to fulfill God's will. It shows the human side of a man, who knows he is going to face death, in a painful way, and wants to understand the reason for this. The song is called 'Getsemani' And this live version is unbeatable. Note: after kneeling down, the song continues for 1 more minute. It doesn't end at that point. Hi team Excellent KZbin from late 90s a German Tv music show x no.of numerous songs there to pick from nb as others have already indicated my cousin PY died aged 53 ,over 15 years later a local Greater Manchester council put up a *Blue Placque ( *a Uk celebration posting showing summary of any former 'Celebrity' occupier ) on the front wall of his former family home (63 Hale rd) in Hale
