• Nancy Sinatra - These ...
For the first time on the channel, we are checking out Nancy Sinatra with her song These Boots Are Made For Walkin' and she was going in! I'm telling you what, I didn't know they were that wild back in 1966! 🤣 This song is so catchy and I love the upright bass and the walk down it does! Nancy is definitely making a statement in this video and I can't wait to hear what else she has out there! Hope you enjoy! #reaction #nancysinatra #thesebootsaremadeforwalking #60smusic #musicreactions

Frank’s daughter. She teamed up with Lee Hazlewood who wrote and produced the song. This was the studio version. You are hearing The Wrecking Crew who were omnipotent in the 60’s and the 70’s. That is Carol Kane on bass and Hal Blaine on drums. You will love her other songs “Sugartown” and “Something Stupiid.” The latter being a duet with her father.

Don't worry this was not controversial, these dancer were just wearing dancers leotards no different than a ballet dancer. People by this time had already seen Marilyn Monore wear this exact thing in several movies in the late 50s and early 60s.

They are 'Go-Go dancers -- all the rage at the time. (Have you heard of the storied LA club 'Whiskey a Go-Go,' which owes its name to the first discothèque, the Whisky à Gogo established in Paris in 1947). Keep in mind that this was the era of Marilyn Monroe, and everyone was wearing mini skirts and dresses!

Mini skirts were the rage in the mid-60s just as longer hair was becoming the rage among young men at the time. The hippie movement was growing. When my Mom rages against the way girls dress today, I just remind her about the way she used to say Grandpa was having a heart attack about her mini-skirts.

When I was growing up, we'd spend the weekends with our dad. He was very active in sports (bowling, softbal) and when he had a bad game, he'd come home late at night and crank up a mixed cassette. This song was on it and he'd wake me up and we'd dance to this song and a bunch of others on the cassette tape. Miss those days. He's 75 now and not as limber (neither am I at 47...lol).

Nancy recorded the title song from the James Bond movie "You Only Live Twice" in 1967. She also starred with Elvis Presley in "Speedway" in 1968. Nancy did a few collaborations with Lee Hazelwood including the songs "Summer Wine", "Jackson" & "Some Velvet Morning".

Like all the comments have indicated, Nancy is the daughter of Frank Sinatra. She was very popular during the 1960s and appeared in several movies and had her own highly rated TV Special "Movin' with Nancy". During the first half of the 1960s there were several "Beach Movies" and the stars were mostly Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello (check them both out individually and together). Other teen performers appeared in these movies with Frankie and Annette including 'Little' Stevie Wonder; Nacy Sinatra; Leslie Gore; Donna Loren; Linda Evans; and adult performers like Don Rickles; Paul Lynde; Morey Amsterdam; Vincent Price; Buster Keaton and Harvey Lembeck. They were a lot of fun and some great songs and singers.

The interesting thing about the bassline is that it is walking down in quarter tones which means it can only be played on a fretless instrument like an upright bass or a fretless bass guitar.

Seton Hill Studios: This was in NO way controversial. This was 1966 - not 1866. Go-go dancers were all over tv. The girls were wearing thick tights. Music shows like Hullabaloo and Where The Action Is, had girls in bikinis and guys in surfer shorts every day on tv dancing to the top hits on the beach. People nowadays are more uptight & have a lot of hang ups compared to people then. But people back then had better manners and were much more conservative.

This has been used in several soundtracks and, if I remember correctly, a few commercials, that's probably where you have heard it before. Seeing her in this video, then seeing her on guest spots in the mid to late 1980's, she had barely changed.
