Love this album. It was my intro to the Scorpions in 1984 when I was 9. Been a big fan since. Have every Scorpions album, live album, some compilations and bootlegs.

The Scorpions had been plugging away in West Germany and Europe since the 70's... so when they finally came to North America in 1979, they were ready for the arenas and they had a platinum record by 1980 as they appealed to young women and men w/ their brand of hard rock and tender ballads... Their success playing the Us Festival in 1983 gave them the biggest record of their career in 1984 w/ 'Love at first sting'... w/ MTV putting them on the air... Songs like "Rock you like a hurricane"... "Still lovin' you"... "I'm leaving you" ... 'Big City Nights'... 🤘🤘🔥🔥 They spent over a year on the road for that album and were exhausted by 1986...as "Love at first sting" sold 3 million copies in the US, and the live album "World wide live" sold another 1 million copies. According to the Scorpions, their longtime producer Dieter Dierks saw Def Leppard's 'Hysteria' album in 1987 and wanted that for the Scorpions... so they spent a year making the album 'Savage amusement'... but it sold 1 million copies in the US in 1988 and did not have the mega-success of 'Hysteria'... or Bon Jovi's 'Slippery when wet'... or Guns N' Roses' "Appetite for destruction" (the massive hit records of that time)... but the Scorpions were still a massive band on the international stage and played the USSR for the first time in 1988.

I saw Scorps twice live in the 80's and for anyone who saw them at that time will agree - THE BEST in concert. I saw all the bands back in the day and tell you hands down, best band live in concert ever for me. Second place to a tie between Iron Maiden, Motley Crue, VH and Ozzy. Honorable mention to Krokus and Queensryche. Better than a version of Pink Floyd I saw in the 90's.

I was lucky enough to experience the Monsters of Rock tour in Memphis. Damn good show and great lineup of awesome bands. My only complaints are that I didn't think about how horrible hot it was going to be in the Liberty Bowl that day . I came home with a bad sunburn and terrible headache,also my ears rang for days. But I loved every minute of that concert by all those great bands .

There’s a tribute band in California called love, Drive, I swear you can’t tell the difference, I’m sure a true, true scorpions fan could , but they were amazing! Nowadays, tickets are so expensive, I can only afford to go to the tribute bands lol I wanted to see AC/DC, has anybody looked up tickets for the show in October? $$$$$$$$
