You’ve just begun to scratch the surface of David’s “sides”. I think he created a new genre with his latest album, something like classical/gospel/ funk. “Song for Sinners” is absolutely amazing, a kind of soft jazz, with lots of runs, which he normally doesn’t do much. I’ve listened to this version since it was released. It’s my go to song when I want to listen to chill Phelps as I go to sleep. I lay there with it on repeat. I love his “pop” breathy, almost sultry feel, especially at the beginning. He emotes so well. And the legato slide up just gets me. He’s simply brilliant.

"The Voice" album is from 2008. There are many, many sides to David's vocals, song-writing, arranging, orchestrations, etc. You are definitely down the rabbit hole. David's phans have discussed for years why David has not won more awards, nor become more well known. I think it's because he cannot be put in a box. People don't know what to do with him.

This is 2 different songs for Home Free and Austin Brown. These songs are on You Tube. Righteous Brothers are great also, the original.
