This song is him crying out to God. He grew up Christian but has struggled with his religious beliefs for years. You can hear it woven throughout their entire discography. Amazing song and band ❤

His voice has changed some since then…but I love how much he sings with emotion. He is unique. No one sounds like him.

This song is one of my favorites from them! Always brings me to tears. I've usually seen it as a crisis of faith sort of song, a conversation between Tyler and God, rather than a song about literal addiction. But you're right, he has so much pain in his voice!

My favorite band!!! Tyler’s pen is amazing and his ability to put so much emotion into each song is like no other. Josh is an exceptional drummer and compliments Tyler so well ❤

I heard this version before the original and I was completely blown away, I was shaking so hard. I had no idea it was a song to god, I'm not religious even a milli speck of me. But this song struck me so hard. Proves that beautiful writing can touch anyone's heart no matter religion, or believes. Addict with a pen, is my favourite song from them. F...in geniuses ❤

Hey Cliff, love your channel man love you you’re awesome. I think this is my favorite song too. Because I know how he feels I too I’m someone who was brought up in church. And I too have been in the desert of my mind for years and I have never felt a drop of his water or his life. It's admirable that Tyler still cries out

I don't believe that Tyler has ever dealt with drugs or addition, although you could interpret it that way. He's very spiritual so I believe this is probably more about a conversation with God and his faith. Hence the reference to him being the Son and talking to his father. He hasn't been a good "son". But like you said, it works on so many levels for almost anyone. And it's sung from deep in the soul. So you feel it.

This song resonates with me more than damn near any other song. Talking with God because at one point you did believe and have faith. It's so hard because you feel stupid asking for forgiveness for the things you know you'll do tomorrow. Luckily my addictions don't endanger my life but not everyone can say that.

it’s interesting because i’ve never been religious, yet i still resonate so much with this song. i think it’s just the desperation in it.

This is Tyler's conversation with God. I always liked this song, but after losing three members of my immediate family in four months, it has taken on more meaning to me. I was raised with religion and faith, but after what I went through, I struggled with my faith. I still am. I prayed so hard, but lost them anyway. This song has that emotion and pain of that struggle. It is brilliant and cathartic!
