It's good to see you out on the road in full gear. Never apologise for wearing it - it will protect you. As for riding tips here are mine. 1 Ride to the conditions (road, weather and so on). 2 Ride to your own skills and capacity (don't feel tempted to keep up with faster riders if it's beyond your capabilities). 3 Ride to the capabilities of your bike ( I don't know your bike but obviously a cruiser for example is different from a sports bike). 4 Concentrate on the road, know what you're going to do and give plenty of signals and then anticipate as best you can what everyone else is going to do. As for the photography, let the camera do its thing, you can't smooth out every bump in the road. Some people mount their camera on their helmet - on top of along the chin bar. I don't do that because it makes me feel a bit sea sick watching the helmet move side to side all the time and I worry about the wind trying to pull it off. I don't know if my advice is of any use. Thanks for sharing your ride. Good luck on the roads - stay safe.

@6:58 I noticed you shoulder checked the white car 5 times and ended up not merging into his lane before the full white Line. You can drop a gear and revit up to go ahead of him once your comfortable doing so, or slow it down and let the car pass so you can merge behind him. Keep at it Rea your doing great! As to comments about gear, you’ll always be adding more stuff to your inventory and when you do, some colours that pop are always a good thing to stand out and be noticeable. I started like you all in black…eventually started to mix my colours a tad. Safe travels!

It's a good idea to cover the front brakes with your fingers while in traffic. Studies show you can increase your emergency stop time by a few seconds, which is a really big deal. It takes some getting used to, but you can still use the throttle if you pinch the grip between your thumb and palm.

I’ve watched and liked your learning to ride videos as I went through the UK version a few years ago. There are 2 major risks to be aware of with riding. 1. The risk of making a mistake yourself. 2. The risk of a driver of another vehicle making a mistake. You can mitigate the first with training, concentration and practice. The 2nd can be mitigated by assuming every driver will try to kill you and by being visible to them. I worry that your apparel, though stylish, is not visible at all to drivers. It is really uncool, but a fluorescent jacket is really a life saver.

Check under your seat if it uses a key to remove it. Most manufacturers will weld L or C tabs to the frame that are used to hook the D rings from your helmet to. The helmet itself will be on the outside of the bike so close the visor and try to position the helmet so it keeps any rain out!! The only way to steal the helmet is by cutting the straps or ripping/prying the seat off!!! If you have comms, just unclip it from the base and throw it in your pocket....
@clubman630 Жыл бұрын
For the most part nobody really cares if you're in motorcycle gear walking around. But they do make rider apparel (padded abrasion resistant jeans, and of course stylish leather riding jackets) that might be something to look into. You can get a helmet lock to if you're worried about your helmet. For the most part I have found nobody messes with them, but I get it... They aren't cheap either. They also make rider back packs that can carry a full helmet too.
@RidewithRea Жыл бұрын
Gosh why do they have to be so expensive lol but thank you!
@e.z.b.sevenone Жыл бұрын
Take your seat off if it is key actuated. A Lot of manufacturers will weld "L or C" tabs/brackets to the frame that you can use the D rings on your helmet strap to loop over the brackets. Reinstall the seat and your helmet will sit on the outside. Unless they cut the strap rendering the helmet useless it's locked up, just make sure to position the helmet and close the visor to keep potential rain from getting in the helmet!!! Also, anyone ever tell you that you look like Tulsi Gabbard?? Safe travels.... Your doing great!!!

Ps the 250 I am referring to is not the old one, it is the Japanese one, it looks exactly like the 500 but with a 250cc engine
@RidewithRea Жыл бұрын
@@dustcake2576 I had very limited options when I was looking to buy my bike so buying a 500 was not even an option for me. But I'm glad I got the 300. I definitely couldn't afford a more expensive bike at the time so I think it was the right decision. Also, the speed limit here is about the same and so I never had an interest in going that fast anyways. I do think I will upgrade to a faster/more powerful bike in the future but for now I am very comfortable with this. Especially since I'm still just starting out. If you're looking for a bike that you will not need to upgrade in the future, the 500 would be a good investment. But if you're on a budget, don't care about going fast and plan to upgrade in the future, the 250 is a great choice. to start out with.

But another thing is, the 500 is probably gonna be a lot easier to sell, I don’t know , tough choice
