Muskogee, Oklahoma is where Merle Haggard was from. Carl Perkins wrote Blue suede shoes. Us oldies knew exactly who Possum - George Jones was talking about. And in case it ever comes up, George called Vince Gill Sweet Pea.

Merle Haggard did a famous song called “I’m Proud To Be An Okie From Muskogee” putting down the hippies 😂 “Mama Tried” is a good one to check out. ☮️ Merle was discovered in prison by Johnny Cash. He mentions it in one of his songs.
