Great to see you enjoying again. You must have understood the whole thing. But in detail the pickle thing- In India most of the rural class(and the most common people ) use spicy pickle as a side dish for any alcohol drinks. It almost too common. The reasons- 1- It is very good. 2- It is cheaper. So, even a very low wage worker can afford a simple side dish, a simple spicy pickle packet. When he says for them I just had a sip and for you I will drink bottoms up and lick the pickle it means he is just going to enjoy it.
