Elvis is more of a mine shaft than a rabbit hole. His catalogue of music is extensive and varied. His ability to sing Gospel, Blues, Country, Soul, Rock and Pop are legendary. His stage presence and charisma are off the charts and considering his very humble beginnings it`s fair to say his world wide stardom almost 50 years after his passing is incredible. While like us all he was far from perfect and had his faults, it`s also true that he was generous to a fault, loved his fans unconditionally and in my humble opinion is still the bench mark all other entertainers struggle to reach.

once you watch more of Elvis's video's, the live versions, you will come to see his wonderful sense of humor and spontaneity.. He loved to enjoy himself and have his fans enjoy themselves and if he could entertain them with his music and his humor all the better.. A great video to watch live would be "love me tender" you will sit there in awe and laugh at his antics through out the song but I promise you, anyone at that concert will never forget it, especially quite a few of the women there, lol.. look for it and enjoy.. you have a lot to yet learn about Elvis but if you continue your journey you will understand him better at the end of it.. if there is ever an end.. I've loved him all my 65 yrs and still spend a lot of time watching his video's and listening to his music.. He will never be replaced or replicated.

Elvis had a fantastic relationship/friendship with his back up singers, his band and his fans.. if you watch this video closely you will notice that his movements had a lot to do with his drummer, Ronnie Tutt.. it was almost like he was trying to imitate or compete with him. You will notice how he keeps looking over to him after each segment of it with a big grin on his face, lol. He is so much fun to watch and learn about..

The song "Suspicious Minds" by Elvis Presley is about the breakdown of trust and communication in a romantic relationship. The lyrics express the feelings of suspicion, doubt, and insecurity that can arise when trust is eroded. The line where he said up your nose was just elvis being a jokester he would add in his own line to a song just to be funny when he said up shove it up your nose after he said he kinda smiled that was just elvis being funny , elvis liked to joke around and make people laugh.. Elvis also never took street drugs or drank alcohol, he only took prescription drugs that was prescribed by his own physician, of course he abused the prescription drugs and took more than what was prescribed but he never did street drugs.. I'd love to see you go down the elvis rabbit while, he really was a good entertainer .. Thanks for reacting to my request and don't worry that it was late getting to it, your health always comes first..

Listen to him sing “So if an old friend I know/ (shove it up your nose)/Stops by to say hello/. He tilts his head down with a smirk and kind of mumbles the part I put in parenthesis. He likes to ad lib and change the lyrics to make them funnier. In one concert he was singing “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” and he changed the lyrics from “Do you gaze at your parlor and picture me there” to “do you gaze at your Bald Head/ And wish you had Hair”.

Boy, did not get his wrong! 🤣 This has nothing to do with cocaine. Elvis often changed lyrics on the fly to make the audience laugh. “Shove it up your nose.” was a common way to say FU to someone in 1970. Cocaine would not become a popular drug until the disco era emerged. A few years away. Elvis did not use cocaine. He was against illegal drugs. He became addicted to prescription drugs. All prescribed by doctors. People didn’t understand that type of addiction back then. Many accounts have stated the roots of the addiction began in 1958 when he drafted into the army. It was not uncommon for soldiers to be prescribed Dexedrine (amphetamine) while on maneuvers. Sometime in the sixties he started the cycle of amphetamines to be up and sleeping pills to sleep. During the year that this concert was taped, Elvis had a pretty good handle on this situation. It wouldn’t be until 1973 when things started to dangerously spiral out of control. I saw Elvis twice in person. He had very playful manner on stage. He connected very well with his audience. Who knows, he may have taken some amphetamines before the show, but definitely not cocaine. Personally, if I was playing Vegas for a month and doing two shows a night, seven days a week I’d be taking something… and I don’t even drink alcohol.

I am learning alot about Elvis from you guys. my perception of his love for cocaine was definitely askew. I''m not sure where I "learned" that he was into it, I have just thought that for as long as I can remember. Thank you for the info! I know for sure that most governments gave their soldiers amphetamines of some sort or another before the true dangers of such an addiction were brought to the main light. There is a video by The Fat Electrician that outlines one such story, kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJLdf2iNmL2qn9Esi=cGMyaVh7KSD0tpd2 This is quite a good watch and covers what you were talking about rather emphatically. This is about being suspicious about your partner cheating when they're away from you and the damage that can do to a relationship. Elvis was a notorious practical joker and often threw in stray lyrics off the cuff. This song was one of his concert showpieces and on another occasion he slipped in the line "I hope these pants don't rip" in a different part of the song where he was doing his drop down to the stage and leg stretching. 😂 1. Elvis *never* had a problem with illegal drugs. Only rx's 2. You have to understand the times back then. Dr's handed out barbiturates and amphetamines like they were Skittles back then. 3. Elvis had some long term and increasingly debilitating health problems on top of his grueling concert schedule. He was on numerous rx drugs for those as well as on uppers and downers to keep him going. 4. The abuse of those medications over the years and a massive bowel obstruction led to him having a heart attack in his bathroom. He did *not* OD. Dr. Forest Tennant had special access to Elvis’s medical history as an expert witness in Presley’s wrongful death case, and he believes he has found it: Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a genetic deficiency of collagen that affects connective tissue throughout the body. Elvis had an unusual ability to hyperextend his joints, allowing him to swivel his hips, bend, and gyrate his legs all at the same time. It was a move that people have rarely seen before or since, but Elvis’s mother was known to do the same move in community dances. Ehlers-Danlos is a genetic disorder of connective tissue, and the primary symptom is loose, hyper-extendable joints that often become displaced from their sockets. At the time very few knew about the disease and there were no tests for it. On the day before his death, Elvis visited the dentist to fill a nagging cavity. After the procedure, he was sent home with a prescription for codeine. Unfortunately, Elvis had an allergy to codeine. Creating Elvis took a rare DNA combination that was not supposed to happen. It was not supposed to survive - and the consequences of that have long been ignored,” says author Sally Hoedel who was comparing his and his mother's death to his daughter Lisa Marie's recent death. Elvis’ maternal grandparents were first cousins. “It was that union some 30-something years before Elvis’ birth that dictated his short life” as well as others in the family, Hoedel stated, blaming it on the family tree in which “branches got tangled.” “Creating Elvis took a rare DNA combination that was not supposed to happen. It was not supposed to survive - and the consequences of that have long been ignored,” she wrote. According to Hoedel’s book, the deaths were the result of Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, a genetic condition passed through generations. “It is known from Elvis’ autopsy that he was ‘a carrier’ for this disorder,” the Michigan-based author wrote, stressing that it “can have debilitating outcomes, even as a carrier.” Such “genetic complications” then “impacted [Elvis’] entire life,” Hoedel wrote - saying it “led to poor health, impacted brain function, compromised bodily functions and damaged organs.” According to her the same was found in Lisa Marie.

@@ReactingToTheFray Regarding the A-1 antitrypsin gene -- it causes COPD/emphysema. Elvis began using an inhaler at some point to help him breathe. Many people say lots of singers use inhalers to help their voice. This may be true but in Elvis' case it was so he could literally breathe. On his '68 comeback special for the sit-down song "Heartbreak Hotel," he coughed a few times & at one point he touched his throat & said, "hold it, i'm out of breath, wait a minute" -- he laughed & went on w-the song. But that was typical Elvis, making a joke out of the situation. For "Unchained Melody" in 1977 -- his last FILMED concert approx. 6-8 wks. before he died -- it was tenor Sherill Nielsen who sang the last high note. As great as Elvis was, he just could no longer make it, he was that ill. He also had glaucoma & the super bright house lights & stage lights were very hard on his eyes. He had emergency in-office eye surgery some time in the mid-'70's. Elvis wearing sun glasses was not just to look cool.

New subscriber. BACKGROUND INFO: Written by Mark James in '68, the song is based on one night when James was fooling around on his guitar & came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James' wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of." There is an interesting story regarding the "fade-out"-"fade-in" @ end. It's said that there was internal strife within the record company due to Felton Jarvis taking the tape & creating that ending & Chips Moman never forgave him. Supposedly Elvis was not aware that it was going to happen. Like all Elvis stories & info you have to take it all w-a grain of salt as there are a lot of untruths, misinformation, etc. surrounding his life. Thank you & be well. Forgot to mention if you noticed the difference in his jumpsuits between the Concho (silver coins) & the Chain w-leather tabs @ very end. This performance is a piece from MGM's filming for the "That's The Way It Is" (TTWII) DVD. They film was done over six shows & put together for the DVD. I guess they thought no one would notice that little difference.

Let's get it straight here, Elvis' dependence on mostly uppers increased throughout the 60s. By the time of this video of That's The Way It Is movie, 1970, I believe his use of downers was increasing. Even in the rehearsal scenes, you can clearly see Elvis slurred and glossy eyed. All of this abuse over 10 plus years, aside from any of the genetic health issues, led to many more problems with his digestive system, which I believe killed him. For the Hawaii press conference and the announcement, he was blitzed out of his mind both times. I'm as big an Elvis fan as anyone, but we can't attack someone for their first impressions of someone.

@@ReactingToTheFray , wow! What an absolutely rude way to reply to @snowbird4212 . I agree with you about the inaccurate spelling -- or maybe snowbird4212 was referring to "character assassination" of Elvis by your statement that he used cocaine (which he never did based on anyone's factual data). Most reactors are kind enough to refer to their channels as "our channel," to include their subscribers as a "group friendship or family." But though it is, as you say, YOUR channel, if people are not free to disagree with you without your chastisement and belittling, and you dismiss them with a glib "Adios," then WHY should we even WANT to come back? Ten minutes ago, I subscribed to your channel, and now I've UNsubscribed -- the fastest I've ever done that. If the reply you made to "snowbird" (and the reply you will probably have for me) is indicative of your true attitude and personality (and I sincerely hope it's not), then I see very little, if any, future growth for "YOUR" channel.

It's just a song. Written by a separate songwriter. Every song back in the day didn't come from a songwriter's personal experience. I can't stress that enough. As for cocaine...... No. It's an expression and he was just trying to be funny. He did tons of prescription drugs, especially a few years after this. He was pretty solid from 68-70. Think 71 is when the real drugs really started to make their appearance. Certainly possible he was using some kind of uppers as he was introduced to them back in the army. But hell back then people legit used them as weight loss meds.

So tired of people Assuming a narrative of what they heard about Elvis. He was an Alpha 1, meaning he possessed a double gene. In the researched book called "Elvis Presley Destined to Die Young" by Sally Hoedel, his grandparents on his mom side were first cousins. He inherited a Gene that would eventually kill him. He got all the health problems that led his mother and her two brothers to die in their mid 40's. They all had liver disease, heart disease, and lung problems. There was little known back then, and Elvis was so poor back then he never has medical care for his twisted colon. Hostel says that had Elvis never taking a drug he would never made it out of his 40's. He was in A lot of pain the last three years of his life. The bloating was cause by his liver shutting down. The 40's singer Bing Crosby said, "It is so sad when Elvis died and they opened him up his insides were like that of an 80 year old man who was only 42".

People who like Elvis an his music have a reflex to defend him because there is probably no other artist, about whom is told so much annoying rubbish than about him, maybe because he is such an icon and is dead for such a long time and can`t defend himself or show people the truth. Someone below said Walk A Mile In My Shoes -- be aware that there are 2 versions of this song & people should really supply links. At any rate, if you are gong to do it, it must be this version at kzbin.info/www/bejne/sF6xmHeYgJ6BbMk -- reason being prior to the song Elvis recites a little poem which is integral to the song, but someone has a video w-that little poem deleted -- which was an awfully stupid thing to do! The poem was written in 1895 by Mary Torrans Lathrap & originally titled "Judge Softly" which became known by its most famous and quoted line - "Walk a Mile in His Moccasins." Some information states that it's attributed to the conditions of Native American tribes but actually comes from this poem due to Mary Lathrap's direct contact with various Native Americans both on and off the reservations.

It is what I was taught growing up, that Elvis had a problem with drugs, somewhere along the way I was told cocaine was the issue... idk where or when I came by this it is just what I had thought. I have learned so much about him since releasing this reaction from you guys. I thank you for all of the information that has come my way, it has been quite helpful. God Bless!
