I have been a little bit MIA due to school, but trying to get at least 1 Dimash reaction out every 2 weeks, so like 2 a month instead. This was such a fun and upbeat song and I LOVED IT!! I couldn't help but dance and bounce around. It's always great to see duet in the context of a duet as well beacuse you can really see multiple different techniques. I loved this!! Yes the MV is cometely different, filmed in a house in the South of France, with incredible sometimes jazzy instrumentals, Dimash in acting mode.. And the most incredible ending where Dimashs hummed voice goes into the background, then emerges in a crescendo in unison with the sax/clarinet.. Really completely different and one of Dimash's best pieces.. Very very sad too.. Greetings from Cape Town South Africa

Those who know about vocal technique on the higher registers, know that Dimash literally suppresses his former vocal coach in this performace. For example, when the lady sings high , her mouth is way too open and drop for not “ too high “ note , which is unneccesary to do. While with Dimash, he sings the same note with melody in falsetto, but his mouth is not too wide open because it will help to reach a higher note as he still has so much space in his mouth as he can open wider as he goes higher if needed . It is a subtle observation. This is noted by other opera vocal coaches who reacted to this performance as well. But again, It was Dimash’s concert and he showed respect to one of his former vocal coaches and let her shine on stage. I just enjoy his faslsetto melodic line so much. So good. His head voice is one of best head voice qualities I have ever heard!

All of Dimash's duets are very beautiful, but he is so much stronger than all of his partners that sometimes I feel sorry for them. Yes, they are all different and good in their own way, but they cannot compete with Dimash ... he can only compete with himself.

So beautifully sung and staged! As far as I know, Maira never actually taught Dimash singing, but they met when he was in a singing competition. She is a well-known opera singer in Kazakhstan, and had been invited to the contest as one of the judges; she championed Dimash when other judges criticised him for ‘unnecessarily’ singing so high. She said she was excited to hear his voice and would like to sing a duet with him - and this was the result! Dimash’s official music video for Akkuym (My Swan) is slower and gentler, but is beautifully done - well worth a separate viewing! It was filmed in the historic Malay Theatre in Kiev: kzbin.info/www/bejne/onyXZ3-sZtmblas

You're right, Maria was never a vocal coach for Dimash. She met him, as you said, while a judge for a contest. I think a lot of people get confused when Dimash calls someone a "mentor", by which he means the person has been helpful to his career in a material way. Maria became a mentor when she defended Dimash's artistry and wanted to sing a duet with him.

She is an opera singer and teacher. I really don't know, but I think maybe it is a cultural thing to sing with more vibrato than we are used to. Sometimes Dimash uses more of it, his mother always sings with a lot of vibrato and I have heard other Kazakh singers use it too (in classical music)
@lovesyoutube85912 жыл бұрын
It's called Bel Canto, there are no straight notes in Bel Canto. That's what Classical teaches. Dimash makes use of vibrato when and how he feels it suits the line in the song. If he would sing classical arias, he would use exclusively vibrato. Also, she is one of Dimash's mentors, Maira Muhamad, famous soprano 😊

Maira Mukhamed was the lady judge who was the only one to enthusiastically praise Dimash and even ask him to sing a duet with her on the spot at a national contest. The other six judges sat with poker faces and some even bashed Dimash for “showing off”. Later, backstage, Maira advised Dimash to enter international competitions where he might have a better chance to be appreciated. Indeed, when she was invited to be a judge at the 2015 Slavianski Bazaar, she immediately notified Dimash to apply. The rest is history. Dimash won the Grand Prix, became appreciated at home, was invited to Singer 2017 in China, and pretty much catapulted to world fame thereafter. Bastau was Dimash’s first solo concert, and it was really appreciative of him to invite Maira to perform at his concert. You may wish to watch the MV of this song, it’s really beautiful!

If I’m not mistaken, this was a duet with Dimash and his former teacher. (I stand corrected by other dears on the teacher portion, but a mentor can inspire us in different ways!). Very respectful. I have heard this one sung as more of a ballad in keeping with the lyrics, but this is a fun dance track. When Dimash takes over in the soprano register - just incredible!

Nice reation, Andrea! Rare and totally danceable samba/salsa from Dimash. Missing Sean's spicy comments,though...or has he maybe not yet recovered from a head-gear shock? Expectations are beyond compare here in Prague for the concert tonight in Tipsport arena. Yesterday evening Dimash stopped by at the arena entrance in a black van. The arena area's nearest dears (try that blurry-minded) got box-fresh hand-written messages while he talked to us from the van roof, to calm (or fuel) the excitement. This will probably be great, just wondering about the arena acoustics. But maybe a copper-green-roofed concrete building from the 60's can surprise us?

If you like this upbeat tempo try listening to Jamaica. There's a video from this same Bastau concert where he first sings Leyla, which has a Bollywoid sound, following by Jamaica, which is very high energy. UPDATE: I just looked for it to rewatch myself and now there's a video with just Jamaica (still in Bastau). It contains one of his longest notes at the end.
