I had a friend that loved spaghetti sandwiches, lol. I like my Holiday sandwich to have dressing instead of mashed potatoes. I like to form my leftover mash into a log, refrigerate and cut slices. Then I reheat them in a buttered fry pan until a crust form on each side. I call them mash potato pancakes.

After leftover sandwiches, we take remaining turkey, shredded into gravy, add in egg noodles, when all warm spoon it over warm mashed potatoes or we make croquettes with the chopped turkey, chopped veggies(carrots, celery & onion),S&P and stuffing (all cool to touch) blend together, form into a cone shape, balls or egg shaped. Keep cold while forming all. Dredge croquettes in seasoned flour, the dip in egg/milk mixture, then coat/cover with seasoned bread crumbs. I just pop them into my deep fryer until lightly browned and finish in oven @350*f for about 15 mins (should be 165*f) done. Serve on bed of mashed potatoes and cover with gravy. Some will add mashed potatoes into the croquet mixture. Glad you enjoyed trying another of our traditions ❤

Your bun looks so yummy! ❤ Because I was born and raised in Southern California we had a great influence of Hispanic culture. We celebrated Christmas Eve with tamales and sometimes menudo. The children could open 1 present before bed. On Christmas morning I frequently made cinnamon rolls and coffee for breakfast and a beef roast for dinner. And because part of our family was Jewish and Channukah is close we celebrated with the traditional fare. December was always extremely busy but we had so much fun.

I love leftover foods, they always taste better than the first day of them. I know it probably sounds dull, but my go-to sandwich is a dinner roll sliced in half, buttered, thin slices of turkey, a little salt, Cranberry sauce, and thinly sliced Velveeta cheese and reheated stuffing. The combo of the turkey taste, plus salty, sweet, and spices in the dressing, just makes my mouth and tummy happy. 😊 Open faced sandwiches satisfy the Dane in me too. I'm really glad you two decided to go American on the holiday of Thanksgiving. Can't wait to see whatever videos you make of Christmas foods. I can't have seafood. Truthfully, I don't like herring, anchovies, (liver pate, sausage), ..., anyhow. Those foods basically are how I found out I have seafood and some other food allergies. But, it looks so good, and I can smell them looking at photos. Lol. I also remember the ecstatic look of food pleasure on my paternal grandmother's face. ❤ 😊 Mange tak for videos from Recky and Carol!

A suggestion for turkey leftovers. Shred the turkey, put in a freezer bag and freeze it. Then when you make soup, mac and cheese, casserole or bread dressing, take the turkey out and use it. My friend use to get a whole turkey for the two of us and I bagged up the turkey and used it in soups.

Meatball sandwiches are big here. They are made like hotdogs. They use French bread and slice it down the middle leaving one side connected. Open it and lay your meatballs down the middle, top it with tomato sauce or gravy, and add mozzarella or provolone cheese.
@rhiahlMT9 сағат бұрын
I like mine rolled in a tortilla with cream cheese, cranberry sauce and turkey. No mayo or mustard. We celebrate Christmas Eve also. A lot of people do in the US. Meatball sub, meatballs on a long crusted roll with sauce. Add provolone cheese or mozzarella. I open mine up, take out some of the bread, put the cheese in and toast the roll in the oven. Then on with the meatballs and sauce. The melted cheese helps keep the roll from being soggy. So good.

Yup, we do have spaghetti and meat sauce in sandwiches. I've even bought it at a diner before. The leftover sandwich looks great, the only difference is out where I am we butter the bread instead of using mustard and mayo, don't use the lettuce, go heavier on the mashed potatoes and gravy and add bread stuffing/dressing to the gravy. It works wonders for Christmas and Easter dinners as well. my cousin introduced me to the lasagna, sausage and meatball sandwich as well (also with buttered bread) and it blew my mind in a good way. It's amazing that sandwiches have such a large variety of possibilities. We're still finding new ones all the time. In America, we tend to just look n the fridge sometimes to see what will possibly go together and give it a try. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't lol.

My favorite leftover sandwich is a hot turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes with gravy instead of the usual condiments. If it’s a cold sandwich, I do either turkey, cranberry sauce and lettuce, or turkey, cheese, lettuce and mayo. But the other commenter is right, there’s no wrong way to do this. Whatever you love combining with your turkey for a good bite is what you put on the sandwich.
