Risoles n Lemper are popular snacks in Jawa, many bakery in Jakarta have them. I prefer steam Lemper. Risoles is Dutch influced snack, made of Crepes skin n filling is chicken n bits of vege in cream sauce, coated in bread crumb n deep fried.

Onde onde originally is come from China. If you go to Dim Sum place, you can find that on the menu. What you eat is onde onde white bean. For lemper try Holland Bakery's lemper I think one the best. You can find holland bakery shop in mostly big city around Java- Bali. They have a plenty shops arround Bali. Their shop's signature is Wind Mill on the top of their shop.

Sejak dahulu makan risoles dan tahu isi selalu pakai cabe. Rekomendasi selalu pakai cabai. Jangan Lupa selalu pake cabe, atau saos cabe.

Lemper has various contents: stuffed with tuna, chicken, pork (Chinatown Glodok Jakarta) Onde-onde there are contents: green beans or cheese (not suitable when combined with peanut sauce 😀😀)

nice video! I think you just get a bad lemper, if you can get a nice one, I think it will be hard to choose which one is better between lemper and risoles. Also wingko is an entirely different snack, that green ball with coconut is usually klepon with melted palm sugar inside, for the one that you bought, I never see it. I also think you get a bad dodol because dodol is usually good, people in central Java have the best dodol (dodol is like caramel, it is made by melting sugar and keep stirring it for at least 3 hours).

Lemper Monami is a go to, but if you happened to be in Jakarta one day please go to Ny (Nyonya) Ali, heaven for traditional snacks - that interestingly greatly influenced by the Dutch Try : Spikoe, Kue Lumpur, Putri Mandi, Arem arem, Kue ku, kelepon, and Ketan Srikaya

wingko keju called klepon in java and in java wingko is different food cake called wingko babat but i think wingko keju had different inside in this videos they used keju wich is cheese usually klepon had palm sugar inside . but using different inside is great idea, for me i'm actually thinking klepon and onde2 can be developt for different things from the inside for variation, they can use such as palm sugar, green bean, red bean, fruit jam somethin like pineapple strawberry etc, cheese, chocolate, nutela that will be giving diff taste n it's suitable n they can be serve for normal eat, n can be serve with ice cream as well this can developt the taste more . but i think there's no ppl who had idea like that

The green ball one is usually called Klepon here, with palm or brown sugar in it, i think it should taste way much better than wingko keju. Another version of this is Onde Jahe, the ball is filled with brown sugar and crushed peanuts, served with ginger and brown sugar soup, perfect for cold weather cause it is served hot. And for dodol, I think picking strawberry dodol is definitely the wrong step to introduce dodol. Dodol Garut is the most famous one, it should have texture like sticky rice but sweet, definitely one of the best snacks from west java.

onde- made from white glutinous rice flour and the contents are green beans which are washed until the skin peels off then cooked, you can see how to make onde2 on KZbin and the last one is fried and then sprinkled with roasted sesame seeds

Most lemper is basically same but the herbal tang flavor ones is the best and usually it look more yellowish from the turmeric herb mixed in the shredded chicken meat used to filled the lemper. For the java lemper some traditional market in java like in pasar Beringharjo jogjakarta is good and if you lucky you will find the legendary lemper seller inside the market which is she rarely seen and his goods always sold out only in 3hours since she set her goods. That is for the lemper.

Susanne! You should try Indo delicacies from Toko Kue Sara and Kartiko Jajan Pasar! Those two shops are the best in my opinion. Their Lemper is so big and full of juicy chicken. They also have vaious other Indonesian snacks too! For example Bika Ambon, Risolle, Mayo Risolle, Pastel, Lumpia, Kue Lumpur, and many more! Also some Dutch-inspired goodness, like Klapertaart!
