I had to laugh when you said the kids didn't know how to react or what exactly they were reacting to. I'm an old lady now and Elvis still gets me every single time. He has a genuineness about him. I guess charisma, but something that pulls you in and leaves you wanting more. I love this video. Yes, you are right that an entertainer learns what the audience wants and incorporates that in their performances. But I think Elvis was born to be an entertainer, that his gifts were so second nature to him. Nothing ever seems contrived but totally natural. Can't tell you how much I love your reactions.

RCA did not want Elvis to record this, but he felt it would be a hit and it was...

There he is....bigger than life even back then...the teenagers were wild for him and so many adults hated him. My parents fobid me to watch him on tv or buy his records. I saved up my allowance and bought his records anyway....I would play his music in my room in the middle of the night sitting on the floor with the volume very low so no one could hear it. As long as I can remember I have loved his music . Thank you again for your brilliant observations...I always look forward to listening to your reactions .🌻

Exactly. THE YOUTH DEMOGRAPHIC made Elvis. Every race and religion of YOUNG PEOPLE. That's what made Elvis different from ALL THE REST. Most everyone else sang to A UNIQUE RACE OF PEOPLE WITH a SINGLE genre of music. Elvis Presley was AN ORIGINAL who changed ALL OF THAT.
@belindawade79012 ай бұрын
He was such a natural singer and performer and the new medium of television helped him go 'viral' as we'd say today. It was the genesis of all the four piece bands that followed too. It's so difficult to put yourself back in that time and realise how revolutionary Elvis was. Spot on reaction as usual!

Elvis was the first person to have his face on a t-shirt (say what you will about the Col. The man knew how to market and brand his clients) it was this year 1956

Hi Mike, Elvis developed his strong character early in life. 1956 was Elvis’ break out year and after a gruelling 2 years on the road, no one would have blamed him for taking every advantage. But not so, Elvis was too ethical even so early in his career. Elvis' sixth and final 'Stage Show' appearance was on March 24, 1956. That night Carl Perkins was to have been on the opposing 'Perry Como Show'. However, Carl had been badly hurt in an automobile accident on the way to New York. That night on 'Stage Show', Elvis sang 'Heartbreak Hotel' and out of respect for his friend Carl, Elvis refused to sing Perkins' 'Blue Suede Shoes' as previously planned and instead sang 'Money Honey'.

Did you know that very few bands used drums when Elvis started? Even when they did, they didn’t have them visible on stage. But there’s DJ. Elvis was the first to feature the drums as an integral. part of the band.

What must have he been thinking being so young and thrown into this fame. Whitney Houston once said “ success is wonderful, it’s the fame that kills you”. Her mom was a background singer for Elvis later on and she loved working with him. She went through his passing so young and then she had to go through it again with her daughter. I’m not sure anyone can handle that type of iconic fame, especially if You were the first. Never be another. God really broke that mold after. Elvis. Wonderful reaction Mike. You’re so authentic. 🥹❤️❤️🎸🕺🏻🎸🕺🏻🎤❤️❤️

Elvis is 21 years old in this video. Such a beautiful man and most of Americans were just beginning to buy televisions. He has a baritone voice that could sing in a tenor range as well. What a phenomenal performance. I love it!!

I think you said you put it on the playlist but I am really begging for how great thou art live Rapid City 1977. It was by far beyond the brilliant performance he has ever did in gospel. you get this feeling and you can’t help it feel it that he almost knew that his time was short. Simply brilliant.

I was 12 years old watching him, my parents didn't want me to watch him. Everything he did was electric, and considered raw and overtly sexy. But you know it wasn't only that he could be so humble and shy, he drew you in as his x wife said, "he made you love him. Probably the most generous humanitarian in entertainment. See " Elvis Presley King if Kindness". Thanks you do great reactions.

Remember it like it was yesterday, seeing it on TV & playing the 45's. If you grew up in those conventional '50's, it's understandable why he was seen in such a negative light at that time. Sent some suggestions since the links sometimes cause comments to be deleted. Thanks for this.

If you look at his guitar strap, there are 2 ribbons, one is his mother Gladys's hair ribbon, the other is his girlfriend's at the time, June Juanico.

Mike, I have watched so many reviews on Elvis, many of which are very good. I am not even hesitating to say that this review stands head and shoulders above all other reviews. It is quite simply brilliant. You capture the essence and the importance of the performance and of course of the song whilst adding your own take on it. Thank you Mike. Keep the Elvis reviews coming.
