I am happy that you liked Al Murray and was not offended by him. The thing to remember is that he is playing a character, an opinionated Pub Landlord, hence, the Bar and beer on stage. He would no doubt, tailor his act to whichever nationality had responded first, to his question: “do we have anyone from overseas in tonight?” Al, interacts a lot with his audience and in reality is very educated and knowledgeable man, with a History Degree from Oxford University, one of the finest and oldest, in the U.K.

Well, San Fransisco was founded sometime around about the late 1700s and fault lines weren't really uncovered and tied down to being the cause of quakes until roughly two centuries later. Continental drift was still controversial in the early 60s - as far as I recall. Everything I'm writing here is approximate, unless I double-check, and after my move, my books are still all over the place! In answer to your comment about why the city was built upon a fault line, the thing is, until cause and effect was properly known, it looked great, it looked promising and fertile and had the ocean nearby, so they went for it!

That's a fine example of English comedy at its best. Superb reaction, please continue your journey through British comedy. The list is endless and wonderful. You have a treat, many many treats, in store. Suggestion though...don't make the common mistake of talking before pausing because ALL of these guys make every word count. And don't be afraid of listening two or three times if you don't get it. *Phew* That's you telt, lol 😆 here endeth the lesson. Enjoy!

Quite possibly the first reaction from the States where there's a hint that the 'doesn't matter who comes first, when you're on your own' joke was caught and landed. Suitably impressed.

If an American can't explain something, he says it's aliens! At least British people will admit when they're 'pissed' (drunk) Neil.

IM BRITISH, unfortunately I have to correct an American the City was built before they knew about fault lines and Earth quakes or plate tectonics.

The American dream is the dream of an ideal lifestyle with a big house, mowed lawn, a dog two kids a good job, being able to go up the ladder economically socially etc etc that the USA sold to immigrants so people would come to the USA, eventually a ton of people came believing in it. Now it's outdated and isn't relevant, it's a 20th century thing. Anyways idk if my comment was necessary but I enjoyed your reaction! Didn't know Al Murray either :)
@carlhartwell79782 жыл бұрын
I think he actually explained what 'The American Dream' actually is, and it wasn't near as specific, and I'd say still very much relevant. 🤨 Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

He did? 😅 but I guess it can be many things…? That’s what we learned in English class in French and it’s true that my vision is maybe a bit specific 😅 but you get the general idea

I love Al Murray. He's brutal but without malice. He's very knowledgeable and acts A LOT dumber than he is. Check Out the British comedians Micky Flanagan (out out tour) or the earlier works of Frankie Boyle (2000-2010) 2 very different comedians but quite unique. Micky Flanagan is slightly better and a Londoner (like myself)
