after thinking about it, Vanessa being a sexbot actually make a lot more sense than I initially thought. Even by 90s and 00s standards, Austin Powers is a sex offender, and being frozen for 30 years, it was inevitable there would be some adaptation required. It wouldn't make any sense to send Powers to serve with a female officer while it was obvious his behaviour would (and did) be sexual harassment. Sending Powers on a mission with a sexbot makes a tremendous amount of sense. Him falling in love with her and becoming monogamous made a lot less sense. It's rewriting, fine, but it sort of make sense
