Music Enthusiast Fact: The final scene in the snow uses the Tears In Rain (1982) theme from Blade Runner (1982), referencing Roy Batty's death scene. Whiskey Apology Fact: While shooting a fight scene, Harrison Ford accidentally punched Ryan Gosling in the face. As an apology to his co-star, Ford invited Gosling to share a bottle of Scotch whisky with him and mooned him. Method Actor Fact: In order to portray the blind character of Niander Wallace, Jared Leto decided to fit himself with opaque contact lenses that made it impossible for him to see. Jared Leto used Silicon Valley tech investors and inventors that he personally knows as examples of how Niander Wallace would behave. CGI Double Fact: A visual effects company worked for a full year on the scene in which Rachael (Sean Young) appears exactly as she did 35 years earlier in Blade Runner (1982). Stand-in actress Loren Peta acted out the scene and her appearance was changed through CGI to resemble Young. Rachael's voice was provided by a sound double. Director Denis Villeneuve purposely limited the number of Rachael's shots and gave the visual effects team ample time to work, to avoid the criticism that the digitally re-created Carrie Fisher and Peter Cushing in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) had drawn. He said the result was mesmerizing.

One of the rare Sequels to match, if not surpass, the Quality of the Original. For the record, I like them equally. Villeneuve also directed _Sicario_ and _Prisoners,_ which are both amazing. Am not sure if you have already watched these, but if you haven't, you should. Villeneuve is one of the most consistently great directors working today.

Same! Rutger Hauer was 2nd best in the first movie, 1st was camera framing and lighting!Sylvia Hoeks is good as Luv!Ana De Armas was good but Roger Deakins is the best thing about this movie though!

The original was groundbreaking. It created the world, without all the technology we have now. The best this one can do is replicate it. Pun intended. Zimmer is competent, Vangelis is a genius.

I always wonder about Joi in the rain. I doubt the generator can give her substance. So it must be observing that it's raining and adding that as an effect to her representation. That's pretty sophisticated.Maybe that's something incorporated into the emanator because with it, she can go outdoors, and it would look wrong if she wasn't affected by physical conditions. Adds to her value.

Yes, Roger Deakins did win an Oscar for this movie. So many beautiful shots in this. I also recommend another movie he worked on, "The Assasination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford".

I think you'd enjoy The Place Beyond the Pines, with Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper. And Drive, with Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan. Half Nelson is really good too. For a slightly sci-fi /time travel vibe , have a look at Stay, with Ryan Gosling and Ewan McGregor 💛 I prefer BR 2049 to the first one but I think you need to see both of them to get the very most out of the sequel 😊xx

Yes, I enjoy this far more than the original because it expands the world, and Roger Deakins' cinematography rightfully earned him the Oscar. The love scene involving Joi, Mariette, and K is reminiscent of 'Her' (2013) starring Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson, where they use a third-party prostitute as a proxy for Johansson's voice-operated AI system. There are three short films bridging between the first film and this are as followed: 2036: Nexus Dawn follows Niander Wallace as he presents a new Nexus-9 replicant to lawmakers 2048: No Where to Run follows Sapper Morton as he protects a mother and child Blade Runner Black Out 2022 is an anime where Edward James Olmos reprises his role as Gaff during the electromagnetic pulse that erases the Tyrell Corporation’s database of registered replicants
