Fun fact at the end of the credits you can hear someone say "It's still alive"

Not sure if you caught it. A Dharma Initative logo from Lost appears for a brief second at the start of the movie. Drew Goddard, the writer of the movie was also a writer on Lost and of course JJ Abrams produced this movie also co-created Lost. You can actually see the Cloverfield Monster in the background of the episdoe Dead is Dead in Season 5 when Ben comes and finds Sun and Lapidus in his house in Dharmaville (It's hard to tell so i think its debated, but there are images and a video about it).

I’m surprised to see how many people don’t like this movie. I loved it 🤷🏼♂️ And I only like about 3 found footage movies: this, rec, chronicle.

First time rewatching this since it came out. It hits different after living in that area and going through the pandemic. Also had a bomb go off down the block like 8 years ago. There's a documentary about the boat evacuation on 9/11 in which someone roughly says "You suddenly became very aware that you are on an island and there may not be a safe way out. "

You are looking at it the wrong way. You hate the last two characters. They died. 10 out of 10. lol. Your side won.

The great thing about this movie is the concept itself. Whenever you watch a monster movie you never think about it from the people perspective. The viewer knows where the monster came from but the people have got to be confused as f***😂

I remember seeing the trailer for this when i saw Transformers back in '07. It had no title card. Just footage from the film. It was when J.J. Abrams was really utilizing his "mystery box" method. Fun fact: J.J. Abrams wrote this, but Matt Reeves (director of the Batman) directed it

I saw this movie about 4 times in theaters when it came out.

I did like how the first half of the movie had a bunch of "First world problems", and it was all dramatic.. THEN they found out what a *REAL* problem looks like!

I was so excited for this in 2008. I was really disappointed, but I've grown to love it for what it is.

@@Richardwho-vv5bh A lot of people hated on this movie when it came out. Either saying it was corny, or complaining about the monster rarely being in frame, or saying the found footage genre was played out. But nowadays it's considered a cult classic by people.

Love this movie. And yes, Rob is extremely annoying. I saw it in theaters and that was a hell of an experience. My favorite part is when they are in the streets and suddenly the military arrives fighting the monster. The sound design and framing of that scene in particular really captures what war and especially one against a giant monster, might feel like. Cool tidbit for the film, this monster is a baby. A baby lost, scared and confused. I hope you watch The Cloverfield Paradox. It's not as good, but worth a one time viewing at least.

Not so hot take (i think?): Watching 10 Cloverfield Lane without having seen Cloverfield is a better experience, because you don't even know about "monsters".

I'm still trying to figure out why the hate for "found footage" movies. It's like some people hate them so everybody must. I don't care! This, "The Blair Witch Project" and "End Of Watch" I properly enjoyed!
@Cthulhu01316 күн бұрын
A lot of found footage film are just poor quality. And it shows. But when it's done right, they are usually very good. As Above, So Below is another example of horror found footage done right. Although, the end gets a bit cheap (literally with costume design). But most of the film holds up and is quite a journey.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. The monster was cool and Lizzy Caplan's character was the most likable, but they both take a backseat to the most boring couple ever. Middeling film. 10 Cloverfield Lane is easily better.
