This was written by Paul Simon in 1964. Originally performed by Simon and Garfunkel. “One of the biggest hang-ups we have today is the inability of people to communicate, not only on an intellectual level, but on an emotional level as well. I love seeing blacks react to this song because of how important town criers were in their ancient culture. In old times cries reported news or motivated the people to do certain things in a unified manner (war, building, etc). Success of a crier was very dependent on a crier with right 'tone'. It's amazing to see.
