If you've been waiting on this video, thanks for being patient! Also, a bit of context for those who care, this was filmed before "The Church on Ruby Road" Christmas Special was out. Hope you enjoy the video!

Actually and i wouldn't normally suggest this but there's a bit of urgency to it - you might be interested to watch the just very first serial from 1963 An Unearthly Child (4x25 min) which currently has rights issues - BUT i learnt yesterday that it is still available to stream in the US unlike the UK! - the rest of classic can follow later if you're interested enough but that one may be mire difficult to watch later (tubi doesn't have it) - even though that's going to have bee 3 starting points you'll have seen 😀

Obviously i hope people keep their excitement in check so that they dont spoil for future episodes but to give context to Classic Who, the plastic men in this episode also appeared in the classic show so it was a nice bridge between the old and this new revival and experimental show.

The Doctor's smile. That's a nice observation. The Doctor is different people in the sense that we are all different at different stages of our lives, but the Doctor is also always the same person from incarnation to incarnation, the way we are also always ourselves.

Aw yay! Lovely to see this. The Nestine Consciousness/The Autons actually first appeared in the 3rd Doctor's first story in 1970, which was also the first time Doctor Who was in colour. (Yes I will just give Classic Who tid bits, because I'm a nerd😅)

It seems the Doctor has just regenerated, as he is checking himself out in the mirror and commenting on his ears. (The adventures found by the online guy with his picture could have taken place after this. Someone suggested that he could have had several adventures without Rose between her turning him down and his return to add that the TARDIS travels through time as well as space. That's not a spoiler, just a theory to explain why it's the same incarnation of the Doctor when we also know that it's a new face to him right now.)

I am so excited to watch you get to know the show. I also just deleted a whole paragraph where I gushed about it and then decided it was too much. I’m just really excited to watch your journey through the series. The budget was low and that is often noticeable. But the characters are mostly fantastic.

This is going to be the Trip of a Lifetime for you (I still remember those TV spots that teased the show’s return with that phrase) This show was my everything when I was between 6 and 11 (the time that passed between 2005 and 2010) I was right there from the beginning, and pretty much grew up with the show watching it evolve and blossom. It was one of the best things a growing kid could watch, because it’s fun sci fi adventures, but I learned so many life lessons believe you me, taught me so much. Which is why it bothers me a bit when people dismiss DW as a stupid dumb show with plunger bots, there’s so much more to it than that. Enjoy the show!

Welcome to the whovian community officially 😊 your in for a treat this show is full of everything it's cheesy, campy, drama, emotional, dark, horror, laughter, death, tragedy a whodunnit you name it but also it's one of the longest running science fiction programmes in the world second to "Star Trek". I hope you enjoy your adventures with The Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) and his new companion Rose. The mannequins are called the Autons who made their debut since 1970 with the first episode of the Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee) why they have a finger gun we fans have been asking that same question for the last 54 years.
@stevesmith28128 ай бұрын
Coincidentally, my partner and I watched Rose tonight (we saw it when it first came out and have seen it several times since). Yes, despite being 19 years ago it really stands up well. Although we did wonder why Rose took the arm back to her flat or why she didn't notice Mickey was a plastic duplicate. 😂 Nonetheless, it's a rip roaring adventure. We agree, Rose's mum is brilliant. Keep watching. 😊

Dr who reaction? Subscribe clicked... your in for a hell of a ride!!!! This first season is great but was finding its feet after decades away (the show started in 1963 and is the longest running sci fi in the world) also the effects are not bad for the time but get better and better as tech improves, viewership soars and budgets improve! Prepare to be shocked, surprised, scared (just wait), amused, cry (keep the tissues around) and be very very entertained.... stick with it, it will soon be one of your favourite shows!!! Enjoy... we will, watching you..

It’s always exciting to see the start of a new Doctor Who reactor. In my opinion, I never really cared for Christopher Eccleston’s Doctor. I don’t think the first season is as good as the others. David Tennent is good, but Matt Smith is my favorite. These are just my opinions- I’m aware others feel differently. Anyway, I’m glad you’re into it and are sticking with it. I can’t wait to see more.

Glad you enjoyed this 1st story. I think Christopher Eccleston was an inspired choice to play the Doctor in this 2005 continuation. As this season progresses, you will find out more about the Doctor’s back history, what happened to him before he first met Rose, etc. and Eccleston plays the Doctor’s hurt and anguish perfectly, much better than I think David Tennant and other NuWho Doctors would have! As a fan of classic Who (I began watching it in 1970 with the 3rd Doctor at the age of 6) I do miss the episodic nature of the old show, where a single story could be (and usually was), fleshed out over 4 or 6 25 minute episodes (with cliffhangers at the end of each episode to get you to come back and watch next week), but by the time the show was revived in 2005, UK drama shows (and Doctor Who is made by the BBC’s drama department and not through their children’s department) had long been making episodes which clocked in at around the 45-50 minute mark, and I guess it was decided that Doctor Who would abandon its original 25 minute running time to follow suit. By and large, a 45-50 minute episode is usually the right length to tell a NuWho story, although sometimes there’s the odd one that could have done with an extra episode to flesh out the characters and plot, but I guess since the advent of MTV back in the 1980’s, the youth of today want something over and done with quickly, in one week, so they can move onto another story the following week.

While it's not shown here in your KZbin edit, one of the most important lines for understanding who the Doctor is as a person is when he's being held by the Autons, and he yells "I was there. I fought in the war! It wasn't my fault. I couldn't save your world! I couldn't save any of them!" His voice is anguished when he says the last bit, because saving people whenever and wherever he can is what the Doctor does. And during this mysterious war he mentioned, he was unable to do so, and that failure haunts him. Thumbs up for the reaction, and you have a new subscriber. Glad to see you hopping aboard the TARDIS with the rest of us. :)
