I met Anne Francis at an autograph show in the 1990s. She was very nice, answering my question I had about James Cagney and Lon Chaney Jr who she worked with on the movie "A Lion Is In The Streets". Her hair was all gray but I looked in those beautiful blue eyes and was totally smitten again.

I always liked the episode with Ed Wynn (Uncle Albert in "Mary Poppins") 'One for the Angels' which tends to get overlooked. There aren't big scare or action or sudden twists, just a lot of heart. The one with Robert Redford 'Nothing in the Dark' is somewhat similar, just a view on life and death. The great thing about 'After Hours' is we've got the wrong idea from the start. We automatically side with Marsha from the start and everyone else creeps us out when they were right all along and it was Marsha that was out of step. It keeps the viewer off-balance throughout which is brilliant. The "Doctor Who" show did a story on bringing mannequins to life too in 1971 'Terror of the Autons' starring Jon Pertwee as the Doctor. It's become an old trick, take something normal and familiar to people and turn it into something scary.

Telly Savalas takes a trip into the Twilight to battle a doll gifted to his daughter which has a vocabulary that lets just say is "interesting". Should provide plenty of thrills and chills for you and the fans.

FINALLY! Someone is doing reactions to The Twilight Zone series! It is so much better when you watch the show late at night. It just brings out the best of the episodes. At one point, you should read up about the life of Rod Serling. Many of the episodes were dreams that he had when asleep. At one point, Serling had so many ideas for stories that he could not type them out fast enough! Can you imagine that?! Loved the reaction! Looking forward to the next Zone episode! 👁

They made the mannequins by making casts of the three actors, they made plaster heads and fixed them to mannequin bodies. The makeup artists who made them were MGMs main makeup team William Tuttle and Charles Schram who also worked on The Wizard of Oz

Mia, This episode was written by Rod Serling. The 9th floor was a set that was being stripped out after being used in a movie. That they were able to make use of and save on costs. The effect's team cast face moulds of the principle actors. To heighten the tension the director used lots of shadows and kept the camera moving. Great use is made of Anne Francis's face and mannequin "eyes." to add to the tension. Also shop mannequins had " full" facial features in the 50'/60's. Cheers, Chris Perry.

I love this episode -it's also referenced briefly in the opening part of Twilight Zone The Movie when two characters are talking about scary episodes of the TV show in a meta moment. As soon as you said, " I hate dolls they scare me.." I was was like - ohhh boy, this one will freak you out. I also love The Midnight Sun, Nothing in the Dark (with young handsome Robert Redford), Little Girl Lost (which Poltergeist fully ripped off), The Nick of Time (with William Shatner), The Invaders (with Agnes Moorehead), Obsolete Man, Night of the Meek(a great Christmas episode), and A Penny for Your Thoughts (with Dick York who played the husband in Bewitched)

The 'lost floor' of a large building is remarkably real. A large department store in Britain discovered it had a whole lost floor that hadn't changed since 1970, small eatery, kid's play area, racking, displays but no goods all left to gather dust. The doors had been simply covered with plywood and painted like the rest of the stairwell walls, signs removed... Without anyone willing to check, it had simply been forgotten in a down-sizing many decades ago.

Please consider going back and watching the old but very important and brilliant film, Kind Hearts and Coronets. One of John Landis's favourite movies. It broke ground on its release, the USA Censors required scenes dropped and the ending changed from the original UK version. The magnificent Alec Guinness plays 8 different roles, Joan Greenwood is exceptional, he character ground breaking for the time and Denis Price's performance is exquisite.

If you don't like mannequins, I highly recommend the Night Stalker episode "The Trevi Collection" 1973.🙀 The elevator man was John Conwell. Not an actor, IMDB lists his credits as (in charge of talent) or (assistant to the producer). He was mainly involved in TV throughout the 60's and 70's.

The star Anne Francis went in to star in Honey West, about a bad ass female private . It was a spin off from Burke's law. It lasted one series before being cancelled as it was a victim of the spy craze of the mid 1960's.

When I first watched the episode on Netflix, I was quick to notice that that girl was the same actress who played Altaira in Forbidden Planet, which I think you should react to some time later.

As mentioned, "Forbidden Planet" (1956) is a movie every SF fan should see. Other A-List productions from the 50s are "Journey to the Center of the Earth" (1959) and "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" (1954), both starring James Mason. Not as lavish in terms of budget but also a must-see is "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (1951) directed by Robert Wise (The Sound of Music).

I went to see one of the STAR TREK movies and before it started I stopped at the concession stand for a candy bar and a soda. After paying I backed up, bumped into someone and said "Excuse me." It turned out I'd been polite to a life-sized cardboard standup figure of Mr. Spock. I was so embarrassed I crept away hoping nobody had noticed. LOL! I would suggest that you watch the TWILIGHT ZONE episode titled "The Lonely" starring Jack Warden, Jean Marsh and John Dehner. Also "A Hundred Yards Over the Rim" with Cliff Robertson. They're two of my favorite TZ episodes.

This is actually one of my favorites. It has a family resemblance to a short story by a famous writer of fantasy and dark fables, John Collier. It's "Evening Primrose", which I haven't read in a long time. Anne Francis was a very, very pretty and talented actress, perhaps most famous for her role in "Forbidden Planet", which had a lot of practical and other influence on "Twilight Zone". She's also in a very wonderful movie (which I unfortunately don't like to watch) called "Bad Day at Black Rock".

The ones you've already done, "The After Hours" and "Perchance to Dream" are two of the strongest episodes in the entire series, so you're off to a spectacular start. After Hours is among my top 2 or 3 favorite Twilight Zones. Anne Francis, as my mom used to say, looked like a little doll anyhow so she was perfect for this episode. A top 5 episode for me if only because it stars Anne Francis, if you haven't seen her in "Forbidden Planet" what are you waiting for? She also had her own detective series "Honey West", her character's name. She was the first woman to star in a dramatic action-adventure TV show, she knew judo, engaged in fights and shoot-outs. She also had a pet ocelot, Bruce and a male partner Sam Bolt and Honey's mom pops up now and then. It only lasted 30 episodes, I have the 4 DVD set. They were 30-minute episodes so easy to watch and there was occasional humor in it.
