First time watching *GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES* (1988) reaction

Hi! I'm a fan of Studio Ghibli from Japan. I really enjoyed your reaction series of Ghibli movies. "Grave of the Fireflies" and "My Neighbor Totoro" were released together in the 1980s, a time when Japan was rapidly globalizing. Both films share a common theme of questioning whether Japan is losing touch with its history and traditions amidst this change. "My Neighbor Totoro" is closely connected to Shinto, Japan's indigenous religion and "Grave of the Fireflies" is based on the author's own real experiences. There's even a theory that the characters Satsuki and Setsuko were born in the same year. These films have rich layers of meaning, so I highly recommend exploring them further. Looking forward to watching more Ghibli reaction videos!

Director of this film: Isao Takahata Not directed by Miyazaki. Studio Ghibli has several directors Among them, Isao Takahata was considered a rival by Miyazaki, and both recognized the other as a genius, respected each other, cooperated financially, and worked hard together. They are the top two directors of Studio Ghibli. We Japanese grew up watching this film every summer vacation. I hope that children around the world will continue to watch this film to pass on the tragedy of war to future generations! I am using a translation tool to translate this text into English. For 1st time viewers - Do NOT disrespect this masterpiece of film by watching the trash English Dub version. It should be watched in the original Japanese with English subtitles.
