Ngl I'm a little surprised about the outcome of you discovering Highlight (rarely anyone gives them a chance nowadays since they are an older group) but I'm not complaining, on the contrary, I'm overjoyed 😄 They are the group that got me into kpop back in 2014, when they were still BEAST and I love them to pieces. They are so fun and extremely talented and hardworking. It will be amazing to see you explore more of their music because it's just incredible.

I can honestly tell you that we are open to all music, regardless of when they debuted. =). I will say that I think I've fallen for this band pretty fast, which says a lot. Beth will tell you that it will take me a very long time to consider myself part of a fandom. haha. But here I am...professing as a "baby" Light.

The history of BEAST/Higlight, which started on October 16, 2009 and is still ongoing, is very amazing and wonderful. Their first start was weak, but they overcame many hardships and became the best singers loved by the public, and they are still releasing albums for their fans. I love their many talents.

I'm glad that they are able to continue to what they love to do--be musicians. I see that they've been through so many hardships (e.g. members leaving), but I'm glad that they are still releasing music as well...and show other bands that they can still make it and persevere. =). They are so talented indeed!

I swear, Highlight's Killing Voice is my favorite so far! They performed my favorite song after my favorite song after my favorite song 😂❤ I'm not even a stan, just a very dedicated listener (I know all of their albums). I have such a great time whenever I'm re-watching this Killing Voice! 2nd gen always makes me want to jump around my room 😁

OMG!! It's finally out!! I have waited for this reaction AAAAHSHHDJSJ!!! 😭🤍 I don't know how many times I have, and will say this, but THANK YOU SO MUCH for loving Highlight!! I'm so glad you love them and their music. I can literally see hearts in Tammy' eyes especially during Gikwang's parts 😆 Fun fact: Lights also call Gikwang "Kiki" since I heard Tammy calling his MX bias "Kiki" too. Maybe this is destiny? Hahaha! Dujun is a good leader, and very funny!! We always say that when Dujun is together with Dongwoon, expect chaos! Bcs Dongwoon, my babieeee hihi, is Highlight's (and Lights) happy virus HAHAHAHAHA. Yoseob is funny too, he connects with Dongwoon's jokes the most 🤣🤣 And ofc our Gikwang, also very funny!! Esp when he's very clueless that he was actually being funny already 🤣🤣 In the future when you guys get to watch their variety shows, I bet you'll love them even more!! We'll be sending lots of requests soon 😉 Also! The story of Yoseob almost giving up singing and Gikwang helped him is correct BUT it wasn't during the time they were transitioning from Beast to Highlight. It was pre-debut. Yoseob was a trainee of JYP for 2 years and another agency for 5 years. He thought it was over for him so he was gonna quit singing. YS and Gikwang are highschool bffs, it was when YS almost quit when GK told him to come to Cube! There's a show where they talk about that scene, I'm gonna look it up for you 😄 Since we're on the topic of their trainee days, I just wanna say that Beast were called the "Recycled group" before bcs members were already trainees from other agencies, almost debuting in other groups, before they came to Cube. Dujun almost debuted with 2AM/2PM!! He was in a show with them but got eliminated. Hyunseung (former member) almost debuted with BigBang! But also got eliminated in their show. Junhyung (former member) was a member of a group called XING. Dongwoon almost debuted in 2PM! Gikwang too, almost debuted with 2AM! But they all didn't debut there. Gikwang debuted as a soloist making him Cube's first ever idol early 2009. During his solo career Dujun, Yoseob, and Junhyung, were his back up dancers! Months after debuting, Gk decided he'd love to be in a group and BOOM Beast was formed late 2009. Even though they were called the Recycled group, it didn't stop them! When they won their first ever daesang with Fiction in 2011, it was then when people started calling them the "miracle group" bcs back then it was so hard to win a daesang when you're not from the BIG3 agencies. But they did. THEY DID, AND I'M SO PROUD OF THEM TO THIS DAY! 😭🤍 This is so long already, but I promise it's worth the read 🥺🙏🏻 When they left Cube, they had to leave everything behind. Their albums, their fame, their merchandises, even their name 💔 They were worried no one's going to accept them as the new group they are now. The only thing they managed to keep when they left were the songs produced by Junhyung, he has rights. Even their trophies from award shows and music show wins, Cube didn't even give them rights to that!! I'm just so happy that the 5 of them (now 4) didn't give up and decided to build AroundUs!! Now look at them, CEOs of their own agency 👏🏻👏🏻 Last year, Yong Junhyung established his own label too. Black Made. He released an album after being inactive for almost 4 years. He's a talented producer!! Such a great lyricist!! He wrote many Beast songs, even Highlight's debut song Plz Don't Be Sad is written and produced by him! The song that Beth liked, Ribbon, he wrote and produced that song. He said that he suddenly had an idea to write a song about a break up when his bathrobe ribbon got untied. He is so random but he is so talented. Makes me want to also introduce him to you guys even though he's not in Highlight anymore 🥺 A little fun fact: Beast's last album under Cube was named "Highlight". It was a full-album and everything was produce by Junhyung. When they left Cube, it was Dongwoon who suggested to rename into Highlight, getting the idea from their latest album. So the name Highlight isn't really a random name 😆🤣 Back to the reaction vid, thank you for appreciating Dongwoon's vocals!! He's so underrated! Back then people told him he can't sing and his role in the group was just being the visual. Idk why it's like that to them, but it was his voice that made him my bias (also his personality!!) He's a caring maknae!! 💜 I'll just end it here!! I'm sorry for the info dump. I'm active on twitter and I'll continue my info dump there 😆😆 Love you two! Oh man, you know that I always enjoy reading "info dumps" like this. I love the extra insight, and it's actually you who we should be thanking...so THANK YOU for helping us on our Highlight journey and helping us understand them a lot more. To be honest with you, it takes me a while to even label myself as someone who is part of a fandom. And man, I gotta say, I said that I'm a "baby Light" pretty fast. You know it's serious when I even bought a Season's Greetings of them. LOL. I am very much interested in this group for so many reasons. =) This is my second time reading this comment, and it was just as enjoyable as the first. Thank you so much again for writing so much info about the guys who you love so much. Their music is stellar, and I really enjoy all of their personalities thus far. The episode about quit singing will be when they were trainee. Yoseop failed to debut for long time, and Gikwang introduced him to Cube ent. where they eventually made debut as Beast together. When they decided to discontinue working with cube in 2017, members all agreed to stay together wherever they end up at. And they made a company together. YS&GK's friendship story is very special and all each members have this kind of special episodes between them. It is great to know that you are getting into highlight:) You really do have lot of contents to discover hope you enjoy discovering them! Since for long time highlight do not restrict taking videos and pictures at their concert. You will be able to find lot of live performance fancams on youtube. Their LIVE performances are the essence of highlight. Please search for their most recent individual concert in Korea. 2022 highlight INTRO concert. It was named intro becuz they all came back from military service(the last concert before their military service was OUTRO).

Second hand embarrassment is their middle name lol. Also they always break the 4th wall and argue with PDs it's the funniest thing. There are many other famous songs they didn't sing here, you can take your time learning about those 😊 For Gikwang being thankful Not The End was the title track, they always vote with their employees on which song will be chosen. Because all of the songs of their albums (since Beast time) could be title tracks quality wise, instead of arguing about which to choose the song with the most votes becomes the promotional song (plus 1 or 2 other coupling songs for music shows). It's pretty simple and straightforward! Edit: don't worry you said their names right, but Lights are aware they have unique and hard to learn names anyway so probably no one would be mad if you didn't pronounce them perfectly.

As you start watching their behind the scenes you'll probably learn more and more, they often reference things that happened in the past. Btw for After Sunset: Dujun and Gikwang voted for Alone, Yoseop for Privacy and Dongwoon for Paper Cut!

If you ladies want some added hilarity, DooJoon has a 3 season romcom drama called Let's Eat. Fans and viewers loved watching him eat on variety shows so much, a show was made around it. YoSeop has a cameo in the 2nd season. And DooJoon has a cameo as his Let's Eat character on Ok TaecYeon's show Lets Fight, Ghost. Beast was the unbeatable group for summer tracks, the big 3 would delay comebacks to avoid them lol.

Welcome to the rabbit hole! Omg you telling us you began buying their albums eventhough you are quite selective with those things it's so cute. Honestly, even l have lots of beloved kpop groups that althought l really enjoy their music but for some reason l just don't feel like wanting to collect their stuff. However, HIGHLIGHT is my exception! So, l didn't start buying their albums until years & years of really loving their music, being a BEUTY then a LIGHT, and l kinda enjoyed the process of searching for places where l could find their older albums bcs they are a group with so much history of earlier 3rd gen kpop or as a very necessary group between 2nd and 3rd gen transition. Anyways, it's never too late to start loving their stuff and I'm happy of you appreaciating Gikwang (since he is my bias too sis ;D). Also, I'm curious if you have ever heard Kihyun and Wonho's old cover of Yoseob's (Highlight's main vocalist) song "Caffeine" 'cause even back then in NO MERCY days before Monsta X was officially formed, those boys really earned my respect since l saw their talents and, even till this day, l still respect the way that they gave a different color to Yoseob's song with their marvelous voices *chefs' kiss* if you haven't heard it l recommend you to search it up on your own since Mnet's c0pyright policies aren't always kind towards reaction channels, but l thougth you might be interested: it's TEAM SEGYERO - "Caffeine" on YT ☺️👍♥️

WAIT WAIT WAIT!!! YOU JUST BLEW MY MIND. WE WATCHED THEM COVER YOSEOB AND HAD NO IDEA. (Sorry for all of the caps because I am in SHOCK (no pun intended lmao). I clearly remember Caffeine. MY MIND JUST GOT ITS MIND BLOWN (I know I'm being redundant here lol). Thank you so much for pointing that out. We'll be watching Yoseob's version and their version again back to back in the future. I don't know if you know but Monsta X are my ult and Beth's top band as well, so seeing this type of crossover really makes our hearts so so so so so so happy. HAHA.
