Something important to keep in mind is that even inside of one episode it can span a few weeks to a month or more. I know their relationship seems rushed but hes been coming over every day or so for at least a few weeks.

I also think it's that they, like many people who have watched romance anime and especially school ones, are used to a slow burn stories where it is normal for the characters to not feel comfortable expressing their affection for each other person until well into the the story. this just not that kind of romance.

The 2nd season is a unique bit, it's a collection of eps that fill in a lot of the blanks of the 1st season - that's why they called it the missing pieces. It fleshes out a lot of the other couples/characters and just adds some more fun/comedy to the show. I just watched it all in the release order and it was fine/kind of fun to revisit some of the pre-relationship stuff.

When I think of my favorite romance animes, there are plenty that end up eventually coming to minc. Loving Yamada, BloomInto You, citrus, Dress-Up Darling, Bangers In My Heart, Galaxy Next Door, Whispers Me A Love Song. However, there is one title that NEVER fails to immediately pop up. Horimiya. Seriously, one of the very most satisfying and endearing and wonderful romance anything I've ever seen.

So this first season actually covers the entire main story arc from the manga, but in order to do that they had to skip over a bunch of side stories and other stuff that wasn't essential to the main story. But then the show was really popular, and they decided to do a second season that's basically all of those little side stories that they skipped. Because the second season takes place over the same time period as the first, but without the main story stuff, it's very slice-of-life-y. I'm actually surprised nobody has put together a watch order list that allows you to watch all of the episodes in chronological order. And now that I mention that, I feel like somebody probably has, and I just haven't seen it.

I haven't seen a watch order list and I think it's a little complicated because they actually mixed up manga chapters within some episodes. So even within a single anime episode, you could have parts of the manga story out of sequence and/or jumping around in the story time frame. I tried to match the manga chapters with the anime (both seasons). I believe that the official manga has a total of 126 chapters and 16 "extra" chapters (stuff like book covers and the Meow-mura chapters). This does not count the web-only version of Horimiya, which apparently has some content that either predates the "official" Horimiya (that which was put into book form) and/or includes stuff that hasn't been translated from Japanese. Sorry, I don't understand Japanese, so I am unable to verify the web-only stuff. Of the "official" manga version, 54 chapters were at least partially used, if not fully used, in Season 1, and 50 chapters in Season 2. From what I can tell, 33 chapters were not touched at all, plus the 11 Meow-mura chapters. Therefore, potentially 44 chapters of content is still available, plus there were several chapters that were only partially used for the anime. This is my personal accounting for what was used in the anime (there may be errors, and depending on your source materials, the chapter numbers may vary). The letters in the chapter numbers indicate a portion of the chapter was used and are my own interpretation. I think what people really want is a continuation of the Horimiya story beyond their high school graduation. There's only a couple of chapters in the official manga that have any information beyond the graduation (they're both titled "10 years later") and these are the chapters that mention Sota's possible love interest (with a girl that was actually introduced in the manga series, but only briefly shown in during the anime). I have heard that the "unofficial" Japanese web version has more about Hori & Miyamura, but since that is apparently still only available in Japanese and was never converted to book form, most of us do not have access to that content. Sorry, I do not have any "inside" information. I just read articles and online postings (English-only), to try to keep track of stuff. If anyone has access to English translations of the "unofficial" version, I would love to know about it! ❤❤❤

Lowkey Ive been binging ur reaction videos for almost a week and the ones that I like the most are the "A Silent Voice" and the "I Want To Eat Your Pancreas" ones, the others are really entertaining too. If you guys haven't watched this, I highly recommend Josee the Tiger and the Fish, it's also an anime movie similar the ones above. I think it would be really entertaining to see you guys' reaction to it.

It's rushed because they thought they were only getting one season, so they did what they had to in order to get the whole story into 13 episodes. It turned out to be super popular, so they got another 13 episodes to go back and fill in the gaps and flesh out relationships. That's why the second season is called "The Missing Pieces."

The second season, or "The Missing Pieces" basically fills in some of the gaps in the characters relationships. Its not strictly necessary to watch but its a good way to fill in some gaps with a healthy amount of comedy, and wholesomeness sprinkled in.

Horimiya, My Dress Up Darling, and Bunny Girl Senpai are kinda the trifecta of the greatest romance anime by Studio Cloverworks. They just released a new one I haven't seen yet (Makeine I think?) but you really can't go wrong with these three shows. Horimiya and Bunny Girl Senpai have way less fanservice than Dress Up Darling but they all have amazing writing

I believe i watched the show in Japanese, but from what I saw from other reactors, the English dub is actually really good as well, and the reason why so many people always fall for the 2 main characters right off the bat is because of how amazing their communication are, they don't do those repetitive and annoying things you always see between the 2 main characters in other anime, and not just the 2 main characters you might come to love all the characters like many others do. As for the speed up progress, it's probably just because the show was limited and had to fit everything in just 1 season, but technically 2 lol
