Sengoku ended this episode with the most hearbreaking but realistic line of all "it only hurts more because nobody is in the wrong", yeah you could think either Yuki or Sakura are better for Toru, but like in real life you dont chose how you fall for, so at the end of the day if Sakura is rejected and Yuki is in this limbo with Ichikawa, those are realistic situantion when you are in highshcool (god, i have seen it happen to adults) and i love this show for using the secondary characters to show how messy relationships can be, especially in contrarst with the straightforward relations of Hori and Miyamura.

Sam said Tooru has been direct up to this point, you need to remember he only confessed to Hori once Miya entered the scene. He's the kind to maintain status quo until something happens.

Also he'a lost confidence after Hori's rejection, so it's not that he is just being humble about himself.

Toru liked Yuki and "pretending" to be in a relationship with her. He said that he "didn't feel the need to correct her" when Sakura confessed but said that she knew he was in a relationship with Yuki. He and Yuki were both happy to keep "pretending" so they didn't have to admit their feelings and risk rocking the boat.

I think "I didn't feel the need to correct her" is also a pretty big hint on his part as to which girl he really wants, even if you put aside all the hints about how much he likes "snow" or "yuki." Also cute, Sakura made sakura cookies, while Yuki made white cookies to look like snow.

I always loved this episode because it goes to show exactly WHY Yuki and Toru work well together in a sense. Of course there's room for their couple to grow, like life always does, but at its core they compliment each other well. Toru is fine to maintain the status quo and keep things comfortable, while Yuki hardly ever breaks the status quo because she can't bring herself to be vocal about what she wants. The best part is where they are is where they're BOTH comfortable with each other.

I love yuki so much 🥺 it's a shame that they didn't make it clear in the anime, but in the manga, it was so obvious that yuki have feeling towards tooru.

When I first watched this show this was one of my favorite episodes. I just feel like Tohru, Yuki, and Sakura's feelings are something I relate to a lot more than Hori and Miyamura.

That never works unless the girls are into each other too. At least not when you’re in high school. And think about what you’re saying, Sakura and Yuki are insecure enough that they’d maybe be willing to *settle* on sharing. That’s a shaky as fuck foundation. That insecurity dooms the relationship from the start. But when you’re young you don’t have the confidence of experience, so you need the horniness of youth to overpower that. Hence, the girls have to be into each other too.
