The suitcase with the armor is a callback to the Iron Man books of the 60s and 70's where Tony kept a collapsed version of the suit in a case. he still had to wear the chestplate under his clothes though, because of his heart.

Yes, it's a different actor for Rhodes, because Terence Howard got lowballed on the salary for Iron Man 2 (although I think he still should have taken it considering how long-lived the character has become, he'd have made way more in the long run), so he quit and they cast Don Cheadle instead. That's why he says immediately "Yeah, it's me, I'm here, get over it". That's directed at the viewers :P

There is a series of short films called Marvel one shots. Many of them should be viewed much later after more movies, but the first two you should react to right away. "The Consultant" and "A funny thing happened on the way to Thor's hammer" both take place after Iron Man 2.

Fun (maybe) fact : The 'ex wife' is i believe classified as a bunker buster explosive. Explosives like that usually have a failsafe where they need to be airborne for a while to prime the explosive. Meaning when launched in the movie it wasnt primed when it hit and probably saved both Iron man and Warmachine from dying themselves from it.

I prefer to just think Hammer is just that incompetent at his job. Rhodes shoukd know about stand-off weapons, he's flown in combat and doubtless dropped/fired everything in the inventory. Surely he would read the brief on using the only really new thing Hammer gives him. The rest is all off the shelf, more or less. Rhodes is a pilot, pilots read. They read a checklist to order a cheeseburger.

@@kaylyptic Not really. Nothing in the films indicates or acknowledges that. It was just wild speculation that some fans made up because the age was about right -- and then these same fans now champion it as "canon" because, when someone in the press asked the production team about it, they got a half-hearted "sure, yeah, we could do that" type of response. At most it's retroactive fan service -- but it ain't MCU canon until some future MCU movie confirms it as true.

3:39 - Sam Rockwell, (Justin Hammer), is a chameleon. Every time I see him in a movie, I don't recognize him until I take a peek on IMDb to discover that he's playing a role. (See "The Green Mile" and "Galaxy Quest" for greater understanding.) 5:21 - Justin Hammer is a bigger villain than this B-lister, whose name is "Whiplash." 6:32 - Yes, this is the first appearance of Black Widow. 8:47 - I suppose it's possible, provided his technology is producing the power of a lightning bolt. Thunder is the sound you get when oxygen is turned instantly to plasma.🙂 9:44 - This is an homage to the comic books, where it was shown quite often that Tony kept the Iron Man suit in his briefcase. "How?" I remember reading in one comic that the suit was made of micro-chain links that became harder than steel when a magnetic field was applied. In other words: comic book physics.😉 11:40 - It's actually BEYOND a jealousy thing. He has a deep-seated hatred for Stark in the comics. The movie diminishes him to nearly a punchline, unfortunately. 14:49 - "You wanna be the war machine..." And that's how the movie gives War Machine his name.😉 19:52 - Y'see, this is why watching "Captain America: the First Avenger" out of order wasn't the best idea. In release order, this was a wink at the audience that Cap is coming soon. You've ruined EVERYTHING!🤪 Okay, not everything. You're on the right track now.🙂 20:55 - Kay playing prophet again. 😁 21:40 - He is so desperately trying to be the showman Tony is. It's kind of sad. really. 22:15 - Prophet Kay strikes again... sort of. 23:49 - It's canon in the MCU that this child is Peter Parker, AKA Spider-Man before he gets his powers. 27:34 - This ALWAYS annoys me. Someone staring at the flashing red light as the beeping pitches higher and higher. They never run and it's so, so very stupid. 29:25 - Ummm... Did you watch the post-credit scene?🤨 31:06 - Never mind.🤣

Tony Stark (and to an extent, his father Howard) were inspired by Howard Hughes, a wealthy inventor and aviator in the mid 20th century who also had a reputation as a womanizer (and also had a few personal demons). The senate hearing in this film is inspired by a real life event where Hughes was brought before a senate hearing to answer questions about his business dealings. Much like Tony does here, Hughes dominated the hearings with his big personality and mocked the senator questioning him. And much like Tony here, he came away celebrated by the public for " taking on city hall" and winning.

Alright one more step closer to The Avengers ✨ This movie was so cool, really did a good job of moving the story forward while also introducing Natasha and giving more insight on Nick Fury... And the fact that they reduced Tony's involvement in the Avengers Initiative to being a consultant can be explained by the fact that The Incredible Hulk chronologically takes place after Iron Man 2. So now it makes sense why Tony Stark showed up to General Ross to talk about Hulk, instead of Nick Fury himself coming to do it. The actor who plays Happy is also the director of this movie and the first Iron Man movie. And it almost seems coincidental that he was the one driving the car in the scene where Black Widow was changing in the backseat lmao 🤣 like those memes "Scarlett I'm telling you this scene is "crucial" for the plot" Like another comment suggested, this movie, Incredible Hulk and Thor all take place within the same week, a fact established by a canon comic called Fury's Big Week. It's honestly crazy how much could happen in a week lol. Looking forward to the Thor reaction 🔨 You're gonna love it ⚡

Great reaction! 😊 This was a really good movie! This was the MCU debut of Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow. And we get Don Cheadle taking over the role of Rhodey Rhodes. As much as I enjoyed Terrance Howard as Rhodey in the first "Iron Man", I really love Don Cheadle in the role. Fun Fact: 7:25 Sam Rockwell, who plays Justin Hammer in this movie, has been in a relationship since 2007 with Leslie Bibb, who plays the Vanity Fair reporter Christine Everhart that Tony hooks up with in the first "Iron Man" movie. And of course, she makes an appearance in this one as well. The fight between Tony and Ivan Vanko on the racetrack is one of my favorite scenes of the movie. Followed closely by the fight between Tony and Rhodey at Tony’s house. Tony vs. the Hammer drones. And of course, Natasha vs. the security guards at Hammer's office. Up Next: "Thor" Looking forward to your next reaction! 😊

Fun facts: - This was a little fan theory that eventually became canon, but that little boy Tony saves that was wearing the toy Iron Man helmet and repulsor glove? That's baby Peter Parker. :3 So it's a bit ironic you bring up the "where are your parents?" bit. XD - The scene where the bunch of cars get shot by Rhodey's suit was actually used in a car commercial when the movie was being first released so it sort of touches on people's response to it. XD

Explination of what happen in the post credits of Hulk: After being named as a Shield Consultant in Iron Man, sometimes SHIELD call him for his advice in some things. Then Hulk movie happens and Ross is humillated so he tries to put his hands in the Avenger Iniciative to fix his reputation. And one of the things that he want to do in the Avenger Iniciative is reclute Abomination as an Avenger member. Yeah, he is an idiot but also an idiot with power and influences, so what SHIELD does to avoid Ross and keep him away from the Avenger Iniciative? send Tony Stark to talk to him about the Avengers Iniciative, make him realize that if he's part of the program then he will work with Tony Stark and finally bully him for being defeated by a green monster. All of that in just one night. Thats the post credits of Hulk And the mission is a success, Tony is so nice with Ross in that bar that Ross kind of hates him haha

IIRC the MCU lore of the arc reactor is that it was first made on paper as a concept by Tony's father Howard and Anton Vanko who dies in the first 5 minutes of the movie, and Howard discredited him or something like that. Now that Tony had made it real, and also miniaturized, Anton gives his revenge to his son Btw that little kid with the helmet at 23:50 is supposedly Peter Parker Also suits in this movie are: -Mk2(silver one from the party fight): Terrence Howard didn't have that "next time" -Mk4 (party fight): replacement for the one Obadiah destroyed -Mk5 (suitcase one): Tony wanted portability and fast suit-up's, but had to sacrifice armor, he learns from this mistake -Mk6 (chest triangle): New suit adapted to the new arc reactor, also the single use laser attack returns in future suits with more uses iirc one more thing, armors got their own arc reactor, reason why Rhodey could use Mk2

At this point, Marvel was run by a toy executive named Pearlmutter, who believed that only white male characters sold toys. So despite the fact that Marvel has a proud history of breaking diversity barriers, for the early part of the MCU, Black Widow was the only female hero, and Rhodey was the only non-white hero. When Disney bought Marvel, they put Kevin Feige in charge, and he started being much more diverse. In the comic books, Tony struggles with alcoholism. This movie is the closest they got to covering that. The little boy in the Iron Man helmet was retconned to be a young Peter Parker.

As far as sequels go, I'd say that Thor 2 is pretty lackluster. I wouldn't say it's bad, but it's more than a little boring, IMO. I'd put that about on the same level as The Incredible Hulk and Captain Marvel as the worst MCU movies (at least through phase 3); I'd have Thor 1, Iron Man 2, and Iron Man 3 maybe on that same tier too, but higher within that tier because they're not great, IMO, but they're at least *fun*. I say that just because, like... the bar is pretty high. Even the worst movies in the MCU (through phase 3) are still relatively worthwhile. The consensus seems to be that the MCU is nowhere near as good post-phase 3, which like... I think there's still some really great stuff, and there's still some really fun stuff. The biggest "problem" is that through the first 3 phases everything was important, everything was part of one coherent whole. Whereas post-phase 3, not everything is quite as essential. But I don't mind that; frankly, I find it a little bit freeing. They did a great job through the first 3 phases of building something impossibly good and successful, but now we can kind of pick and choose what we want to watch a little bit, and it's nice that not everything is essential so we don't have to watch everything immediately when it comes out for fear of being spoiled. I'm glad for the first 3 phases, but I'm also glad that afterwards it's gotten a bit less demanding, honestly.
