That horrific medical operation is actually a Catscan procedure (which many of us have had). Back in 1973, they were that noisy and invasive. btw the green gooey stuff is green pea soup.

la plume du matin is also a french vulgarity referring to the penis and the morning. perfectly in keeping with Pazuzu's vulgarity. Demons are not going to be nice. They are going to be rancid, vulgar, crude and sexually obscene, not the pretty metrosexual demons you see in most movies or tv shows. Hell is for tortured souls, torturers, the damned. One of the great depictions of Saran is in Constantine, though even here Satan is sanitized. The unfiltered version of Satan harrowd the soul, as this is a being that had the power to challenge the Creator.
15:06 I love this scene because it's like the only show I've ever seen where a character recognizes just how untenable it is to let someone point a gun at you. They're both telling him to pull his gun and fire immediately because his chances of surviving drop every second he doesn't. Every other show people try to reason with someone who is pointing a gun at you. In real life, if someone pulls a gun on you, you shoot them immediately unless you want to die.

How humble, Rosario Dawson, making excellent reactions. I loved how you captured the key moments of the movie. Great edition too.

This movie was technically a work-for-hire situation where Irwin Yablans, an indie movie distributor, wanted a movie to release about Babysitter Murders. That plot was his idea -- something scary with young actors. John Carpenter got the job, co-writing a script with Debra Hill, and they created Michael Myers and the rest, and set the story at Halloween. Yablans loved that Halloween had never been used as a movie title before. John Carpenter really wasn't interested in being involved in sequels about Michael Myers. His next job was directing Kurt Russell as ELVIS for Dick Clark Productions on ABC-TV.

This is a masterclass in adapting a book. Very faithful to the book, but updated to modern times. Very well written and cast. Roscoe is fantastic. And the action is just incredible.

Its a war between demon & god and Regan is only a medium between...whereas Father karras is the colateral damage while killing Marriin is the real motive of Pazazzu. 1st 15 min of movie depicting signs of demon through object , humanlife . Its a warning signal of a demon coming which Father Merrion knew and got panicked...as he knows another encounter with demon would be fatal as his health was not ok. The locket of karras is precious [ was found when digging] . Locket is there to protect one from possession. Thts y Last scene depicts demon has to torn off the locket first to get into him. Father Karras has sacrificed atlast as demon can kill regan in a second. Father Karras is a lost soul as he got lost his faith. Infact Pazazzu chose him the soft target for bringing Father Marrion into picture.Even it began more earlier starting from a beggar from metro, his wild dreams depicting faces of demon , his mother's sudden death caused by demon to make him weak as soul. Burke , the director was killed by demon as he got to know the information about demon's doings.it has affected him badly which is some kind of possession , made him crazy in party. He wants to say something at the door before leaving the party. He again came to see Regan at night when he got killed by a powerful man. The matter of fact DEMON has won the battle in this exorcism...his purpose of killing both was served. This demon named PAZAZZU is dangerous in the sense it cannot be killed but can be transfered only to different bodies through exorcism. Its always very risky to execute exorcism as demon can be various and evil as well.

Really loved your take on this. Also, if you want suggestions for another film to watch for a reaction, Galaxy Quest is a very underrated classic from the late 90's. If you want another John Williams composed movie that I don't see many reactions for, The Cowboys with John Wayne is a western that I loved as a kid.

The necklace was protection against evil. The demon yanked it off Damien’s neck because he couldn’t possess him otherwise. So I’m glad Regan and her mom were given the necklace in the end.

Amazing directing too - attention to detail, e.g., they stacked lots of large boxes of ice outside the room to chill the temperature right down - go the '70s!

I well understand that "I've started, so I'll finish" thing. I also reckon it can be a way of running away from stuff you really want to do - giving yourself endless tasks to complete. Good choice and good luck.

Lots of things make for a good reactor: 1. An expressive face. Rules my blank face out lol. 2. Intelligence - nothing as annoying as someone who doesn't get the plot, and who pauses at the wrong time, and goes off the plot, and essentially is out of synch with the flow of the film / series. 3. Decency - disconcerting when you see reactors enjoying violence in a sadistic manner and identifying with the assholes instead of with the decent folk. 4. Sense of humour. This is a good reaction, for reasons noted.
