The entire purpose of this movie can be summed up by that last line "You can take away my house, all my tricks and toys. One thing you can't take away: I AM Iron Man." Tony is Iron Man, not the suit, not his gadgets, it's him. This is top 5 of the MCU for me because of that story it tells.

You both are so genuine and have such insightful commentary. I started watching your videos a few months ago, when I was in a terribly dark depression. This is the most misunderstood film in the franchise. It offers some of the biggest character development in a single movie and can only happen because the time the MCU has taken to let characters breathe. People wanted pretty lights and laser beams and were mad they got a character piece.

A fun fact in 4:24 the punches robert downry jr threw in front of the camera. Those punches are common in wing chun which is a martial art style robert downry jr practices. It’s also interesting that the actor incorporates some of his wing chun techniques when fighting his iron man suit as he poses his arms out to fire in the films.

This is one of my favourite movies in the MCU. We always see the glamour of superhero movies, the fancy fight scenes, infallible heroes and extraordinary villains. This movie explores the other side of the coin. It makes the MCU so much more relatable, makes it more human. Also the fact that the only reason why Tony created the suit was to save himself, but it ended up making him "responsible" for the well being of the world because he was capable. The way they did the throwback in the beginning really showed how much Tony had grown since we first seen him in the first Iron Man movie. Edit : Trevor is the most chaotic character ever i love it

Tony really gave that address knowing pepper also lives there what if he wasn’t around when the place got attacked. It's a Shane Black film...of COURSE it's at Christmas! This is my favorite Iron Man film...never having read the comics, the Mandarin fake-out didn't bother me. I loved the idea of the media boogeyman, probably because I work in the media. The action scenes are insane, Tony really feels like a fully-formed person here, his interactions with the kid are hilarious, and there's just so much more plot than the previous films.

1:10 there's rule in the production of the MCU movies I realized they seem to have a few years ago. I don't know if there's am exception but I think it's pretty much a rule now: Executives give to a director a series/franchise. It's theirs up until they make a movie that has average reviews by the critics/general population. And I'm not saying a bad movie here. Just a movie with average/mixed reviews (which usually coincide with a rottentomatoes critics score of 80% or less). So if a director makes a movie that gets 80% or less on rottentomatoes he's booted out of the franchise and another director is called to take their place at the helm of that specific series. For example: > Captain America the first Avengers got in the low 80% on rottentomatoes, they changed the director for the Russos for Winter Soldier. Winter Soldier was very well received so the Russos stayed on for Cap 3. > Iron Man 1 & 2 were made by Jon Favreau, but Iron Man 2 got in the 70% ratings, so for Iron Man 3 they changed director. > Whedon got The Avengers and Avengers : Age of Ultron. Again, mixed reviews for Age of Ultron so whedon was out for Avengers 3pt1&2 > And that's also why each of the three Thor movies got a different director. And Taika Watiti is the first director to stay on for a Thor movie (Thor 4) because well Thor Ragnarok. > James Gunn did Guardians 1 & 2 and (after that weird mess) will do Guardians 3 > Ryan Coogler is doing Black Panther 2 as well. The only ones that could be the exception to the rule are Spider-Man, Ant-Man & Doctor Strange because I don't know who was/were their directors. Need to look them up. So Marvel production is ruthlessly efficient. A 70-80% is not bad, but it's not good enough for Marvel.

But the real Mandarin still exists. There was a short clip (Marvel's Shorts) made where Mandarin's people visited that actor in prison, and then "kidnapped" him for revenge because the real one didn't like them using his image like that. Also, the actual Mandarin appears in Shang Chi movie (haven't watched it yet).

I also hold iron Man 3 and 1 on a pretty even pedestal. I think I love iron Man 3 the most-obviously, but the story of one is so wonderfully fundamental that is hard to watch 3 without feel appreciation for 1. And I am so always so shocked to hear what the MCU fandom thinks. I am hard out of it and I learned that they're legit phases like .. yesterday. And I'm pretty sure I haven't seen anything in phase two or beyond beside this movie. It's always seems to be such a shock to hear when people think completely opposite things than I do. This one may as exciting, I've heard from multiple reactors. Wolverine origins is considered to be ridiculous? I think it's just differences in storytelling preference. Also the comic fans are obviously ridiculous if they are too upset about changes in a story. I never understood why people are like that. Why would anyone expect or need a movie to be an exact replication of any piece of literature to be ’good'? Do I love pride and prejudice less because the movie isn't a perfect reenactment of the book? Everybody obsessed with First Kill now, am I not supposed to be bored with the idea of it because it's literally just one of a million renditions of Romeo and Juliet even if it's not word for word the same story. Is it because we didn't let 100 years pass between the writing of the comics and the making of the movie? People are so uptight for nothing. Enjoy the movie, enjoy the book. They don't have to be so connected.
