And he could dribble past a whole team, like Messi. He was gifted with vision to pass as well. And at his peak he was at Messi's level. I would put Ronaldinho in the same group as Maradona. But Maradona was just as likely to sink you as he was to bring home the trophy. His on and off field antics were like playing Russian Roulette. I would take Messi any day on my team. I would have to do a drug test and up to date criminal background check on Maradona before letting Maradona play on my team in an exhibition match.

Neymar and Messi are very different physically. Neymar is very injury prone and because of his style, he gets fouled a lot. Most of the times the referees don't call the fouls and he ends up getting very hurt so he has to emphasize every foul. It can be annoying but he's so much more than that. He's one of the most skillful footballers ever and he's unnecessarily disrespected a lot. Messi is for sure much more stable and has an impeccable balance but not everyone can be like that.

For what you said in the beginning, in general in all of latinoamerica we love messi, of course we hate it when our teams lose, but that means we normally support argentina next, or any latinoamerican team who's still in the competition, cos we kinda consider their win also ours. Beef is totally normal just after having lost, but actually our mutual love for messi or just the sense of brotherhood that we have unites us all, especially because besides Argentina and Brazil, not that many teams from our zone go very far on competitions, so we're kinda used to it and support eachother a lot, specially since football is a BIG deal over here. I can't speak on a club level though, idk much about that.

13:40 refs give a foul advantage to the player being fouled if the player is seen continuing play.. As in Messi’s case, everytime he gets kicked or grabbed or pulled, its already a foul, but the refs dont call it if he still continues playing, they only call it if he loses the ball a few seconds later after the foul.. most players intentionally fall down after being tackled in order to be awarded a foul or a penalty, which could be an easy way to score.. but Messi is Messi, there’s a reason people say he never dives(falling down to get a foul).. I dont think he likes losing the ball, he plays the game like a little kid who isnt afraid of injuries and just wants to score no matter who’s grabbing him or tackling him.. you kick him, he falls, gets up and continue…

The reason Messi doesn't seem get calls is because of a thing called "advantage". If the ref thinks that it is worse for the foulee to stop play, then he raises his hands in the air to signal "I see that it was a foul, but I'm not calling it because it would be better for the fouler if I did."

Grabbing and pushing players like they do to Messi in this video is a foul, but in football there is the "law of advantage" by which, if the player being fouled succeeds and keeps going the foul is not claimed because stopping the play would work in favor of the one making the foul. So yes. All those are fouls, but Messi chooses to keep going and the referee allows it.
