@@cessaircr6511 I believe so too. The game was much more physical back in Maradona's time. Players used to actually try and hurt him a lot. But also.. he used to take performance enhancing drugs and failed tests so jts a bit debatable. But the game style is very similar. Maradona got lucky enough to be blessed with a very good national team and able to win the world Cup. Argentina of today only have Lethal attack.

The thing about Messi is no one plays like he does, to demolish defences in that manner with only body feints and one-two touches is unheard of. You rarely see Messi executing some fancy trick, no Roulettes, no Rainbows, no Elasticos. And while those tricks are definetely impressive and hard to pull off, him being able to do what he does with just the "basics" is otherworldly. It's the vision, combined with the reaction speed, the ball control and the agility, that makes him the best.

Maradona is the only one who is comparable in terms of having GOAT level dribbling, passing, control and shooting. Messi just has way more goals, assists, achievements, records and trophies but the talent level of prime Messi vs prime Maradona is practically identical. One won the WC, Uefa Cup and Serie A while the other won the Sextuple, Olympics, Golden Boot and Ballon d'Or. Only difference is Messi has arguable had about 7 of those incredible all time great years whereas Maradona had 1 or 2

IMO Ronaldinho was even better, but he won it all too fast and then got bored. Maradona basically won the title in Serie A all by himself with a team nobody heard of likeNapoli. It would have been like Messi winning La Liga with Granada, without Xavi and Iniesta. Maradona also got bored and started having bad habits. Well, since the recording of this video, he and his country(Argentina) won the Copa América(the South American Championship) in 2021 then the UEFA-CONMEBOL Champions Cup(vs Italy, the champions of Europe) and then just 2 weeks ago they won the World Cup, meaning he has now won literally everything at club and international level. He was also incredible in those tournaments, very consistent and he's 35 now. Crazy. His career has literally been like a film.

Messi plays like Maradona, exactly same, but also scores like Pele or Ronaldo or any other striker ever born that's why he's the GOAT... He'll drop in midfield, disrupt the opponents defense, a world class through ball or a pass and BOOM! Messi sets up one of his teammates for a goal, that's a complete player and a team player everybody wanna have and if you want Messi to score then he has the ability to get in scoring positions and even pull off a world-class finish day in day out. He's just so efficient with the ball that comparing Messi to Ronaldo is an insult for Messi these days at this point.
