18:15 fun fact Anthony Hopkins is actually professionally trained with a whip that whip belonged to him and he was really extinguishing those candles with the whip
@MichaelLee-tt7gm11 ай бұрын
The swordmaster for this film was Bob Anderson (Lord of the Rings, Empire Strikes Back), who once taught Errol Flynn. He said Antonio Banderas was the best natural fencer he had ever worked with.
@JMac7395 Жыл бұрын
FUN FACTS: Antonio Banderas did most of his own stunts with exception to galloping field scenes. The Murrieta brothers, Three Finger Jack & Capt. Love were real-life people. However, their backstories are drastically different than the characters in the movie. Joaquin Murrieta is historically a controversial figure. He is considered the Mexican Robin hood & the inspiration for the character of Zorro. Capt. Love did put Three Finger Jack's hand & Joaquin Murrieta's head in mason jars for preservation purposes, not nefarious purposes

I'd like to know what Joaquin Murrieta would say if he knew that he inspired the character of Zorro, which then went on to inspire Batman, arguably the second-most recognizable superhero in the world after Superman.

So love this movie!! One of Catherine Zetha Jones best roles in my opinion she played it with so much pasion and the chemistry she has with Antonio Banderas! Is so great and ofcourse Anthony Hopkins is a legend in everything he does!! Great reaction

Zorro actually predates batman by two decades! He was created in 1919, while Batman was created in 1939! This movie really did a great job in character growth, these days, the hero instantly knows how to fight, in Mask Of Zorro, he had to start from the bottom!
@robertslaten8015 Жыл бұрын
Yup! Bruce Wayne actually went to see the OG Zorro movie the night his parents were killed and Zorro is what inspired him to fight crime.
@AdamT-88 Жыл бұрын
Interesting that you mentioned Batman. The movie Bruce Wayne saw In the theater, that his parent's would be later shot behind was the original Mask of Zoro. Zoro helped inspire Bruce to become Batman.

I’m Mexican American living in Cali, this movie came out when I was like 9 and it was my favorite movie of the year. He’s the inspiration for Batman, he’s Mexican, and the living LEGENDS Antonio Banderas and Anthony fucking Hopkins play 2 generations of the legendary hero. For Christmas in Chicago my aunt gave me the VHS and I watched that shit till it didn’t work anymore

Yay. This is such a great movie to react too. And so glad that you are 👊👍 I remember this movie, and just loving the balance between action and humor, and the natural transition between the two. It just felt fluid. Especially compared to some movies we have today, where the movie has to basically stop for a funny moment and tells you to laugh. Even if it feels out of place. It’s honestly a shame that Disney/Star Wars couldn’t have taken nites from this movie. Because they showed how to do a good ‘passing of the torch’ without having to trash what came before.
@ryanwight9116 Жыл бұрын
I would say that we need more movies/show of this heavily underrated hero but I’m also concerned, considering how modern media is, they’d F it up

Diego and Alejandro’s Zorro Outfits are actually VERY different when you look closely. Diego’s reflects his Spanish Heritage (Metal Clasp, European style Hat, Gloves that Flare out, and Heeled Boots) while Alejandro’s reflects his Mexican Nationality (Open Shirt, Tribal Design on the Hat, Thinner Gloves and Cowboy Stirrups on the Boots).

I remember going to see the sequel to this on the big screen and I think it’s better than the 1st one. I recommend it. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Antonio Banderas have such good chemistry as Elena and Alejandro. It’s a shame they only made 2. It’s the only Zorro movies I’ve seen, never seen any older ones or even the original. I’m not sure if there’s been any new versions of Zorro since these movies.
