Everything about Death's design and character is amazing. For one, him being a wolf is also a nice tie into real life of how wolves are hunters that literally chase their prey to exhaustion. You can see Puss out of breath everytime Death chases him; getting closer and closer. Also his sickles are a nice addon because historically they're more associated with death that the farming scythe. Absolutely every little detail about Death was genius and props to the team behind this movie.

I've been reading comments on other reactions that Death was actually scaring kids in the theaters. It really is his whistle that puts everyone on edge and the red eyes that pierce your soul. While it is a family movie, this movie really is for us kids who grew up with Shrek and now want to see more adult themes.

@saiyasha8486 ай бұрын
I don't think it is terrible for kids though, especially with the end. The question of "What is death" is something most kids sooner or later ask either a parent or at the very least themselves. And this death shows that he wants you to _live._ to appreciate the life you ahve and treat it with respect. I can definitly see it scaring kids, but if the parents do it right, I can also see some very important and good conversations coming out of it

I showed this movie to my 7-year-old niece and my 4-year-old nephew (plus my two-year-old niece but she wasn't paying attention the whole time) about a month ago. The oldest covered her eyes during some of the wolves scenes but she did it as a precaution; she loved the movie and wasn't scared in the end. My nephew couldn't take his eyes off the screen when the wolf was present and he was never scared. I talked to them (a bit throughout the movie but mostly at the end) to make sure they understood everything that was happening and what the movie message was. They loved every second of it and caught on the main themes. The oldest was very curious and a bit confused about the wolf's intentions and motivations, but also in general about who did the wolf represent (they still don't fully have the concept of symbolism and metaphor). What's important is that they understood that the movie teaches about being grateful for what you already have and that sometimes what you wish for is right in front of you. It's said that kids can handle movies that are a bit scary as long as there is a happy ending; that's how I think my niece and nephew felt.

What's great is that from a script point of view it's the antagonist (not really a villain) of the Big Bad Wolf who "wins", Puss abandons the quest for his wish to appreciate the last life he has. A good protagonist and a good antagonist have opposing goals. Puss wants to get his life back to live according to his legend, Big Bad Wolf wants to put an end to this legend that "laughs at death". Puss chose to end his legend, his goal to get his life back, to live his life to the fullest with his friends Kitty and Perrito.

Disagree. He's mad about Puss disrespecting him and his lives, and so he's getting a sadistic kick out of ending this last one early as punishment. He's visibly upset that Puss learned his lesson. He wanted more than anything to kill Puss because he could, but his standards wouldn't let him. The fun in it was gone, and it wouldn't have meant anything anymore. He wasn't doing his job, he was taking revenge and savoring the chase. He's definitely a villain, I think the take that he isn't is just not right. I think what makes this death still amazing, even if he is an antagonistic force is that he _appreciates life._ That is why he is so angry at Puss who already gets more than most, and he _still_ squanders them. Death doesn't really want to kill him necesseraly, he just wants to acknowledge that him doing his Job is what makes life precious and important.

Death genuinely wanted to kill Puss because he didn't believe Puss had any hope of changing. I can see Death not wanting to waste his time with Puss for the first few lives he lost, but the more that Puss kept neglecting what he had, the more angry Death became. So eventually, Death decided Puss being alive was useless and unnecessary because Puss reached a point where he didn't care about his own life, nor did he respect the dangers of dying. It was basically natural selection by the time Death showed himself. But in the end, Death was surprised by how Puss had changed and admitted his weaknesses and will to live. So Death let his morality show and spared him, making sure he knew they'd meet eventually.

Actually, it depends on the point in time you're talking about when you ask about porridge.... In modern times, it's close to a cream of wheat/oatmeal type thing, but back in the day, it was more of a savory kind of thing, with peas, and carrots, and other kinds of veg.... but a lot thicker than soup, traditionally, because it would be kept on the fire more-or-less for *weeks* at a time, and just "added to" when more food was needed. Hence the old nursery rhyme.... Pease porridge hot, Pease porridge cold, Pease porridge in the pot... Nine days old!

So this film really did (artistically) two things differently compared to its predecessor (and much 3D animation generally): 1 - The film is rendered at the expected 24 frames per second and renders motion blur to smooth out very fast movements, BUT during action sequences the _characters_ animate at 12fps (known specifically as animating "on twos") and use techniques associated with 2D animation, like smear frames and action lines (instead of the motion blur associated with 3D rendering or live action). 2 - The overall "painterly" visual aesthetic, from the much more vibrant color saturation to some background elements being less detailed, more abstracted.

Death is, in my honest opinion, not wrong. Hear me out. At the beginning of the movie, Puss is a pretty awful guy. He puts a whole town of people in unnecessary danger just to grandstand and show how untouchable he is, but at the end of the day... he instigated that fight with the governor and put everyone in the middle of it. The governor would not simply have been willing to imprison everyone there, he legitimately was going to. And then, because he can't resist showing off, he summons a bigger fish, who would have actually killed the people of Delmar. Still, even before the fight, he steps on a child's face without a moment of hesitation. And then we see in his death montage that they are all stupid and careless deaths. He pretty clearly doesn't genuinely value his own life, or the lives of other people. Heck, when he's running from Jack Horner's people, and he just tosses the gold into the street, he spins a good PR take on it that it is a gift to the people... when it is fundamentally a way of using the people to cover his escape. That's when Death shows up to tug on his leash a little, as if to say, "Don't get too cocky." After all, if the horses hadn't stopped in time, those people could have been seriously injured if not killed outright. At the end of the day, Death is after Puss because he is just fed up with him living so recklessly, destroying the lives of those who care about him... and ultimately... Death kind of wins. That version of Puss is gone, and a Puss that values those around him, and sees value in himself beyond the legend has taken its place. Also, a few more fluff details. I love how the corner motifs on Puss' death cards is a stylized depiction of Death... and I love that we've got Florence Pugh and Ray Windstone working together again, though this time in a more positive way than in Black Widow XD Also, early on, her outfit is very colorful with a lot of blue in it, but as we're getting to the last act, it becomes brown... a lot more like the bears' fur. So many amazing details in this movie.

"...why does your wish have to be a secret..." It's for lying purposes. Humans don't like to admit they're wrong (it seems to trigger the same area of the brain responsible for pain). If you tell someone your wish, and it doesn't come true, then your wish is known and that you were denied by whatever magic grants wishes. You are, therefore, unworthy, inferior. Meanwhile if you _don't_ say what you wish, then two things become the case. First, no one can say you wish _didn't_ come true since you didn't tell them what it was, and second you can lie and decide any event that happens is what you wished for. So now you're not just avoiding the stigma of being unworthy of having your wish granted, but you're also 'in good' with the wish-granting power. Wishes are nonsense, and so the ideas around them will be necessarily related to falsehood and fabrication. "...what the freak is a griffin? What am I thinking about?..." A griffin is basically a mix of an eagle/hawk with a lion. The eagle is at least the head and wings, sometimes the front part of the chest and forelimbs, the lion is the rest. What you're thinking about, most likely, is that Harry Potter was in _Gryphindor_ as a house, hence why 'griffin', which sounds similar and was the basis for the name, comes to mind when you think about Harry Potter. "...what did she say? Galdito-?..." Gadito. Literally 'small cat' or 'cute cat', some form of diminuitive plus cat. More realisitically, 'kitten'. It's a small, cat-themed blade. "...I don't know the whole story of Goldilocks..." Original version, and old woman breaks into the house of three bachelor bears. Eats their food, breaks one of their chairs, and is discovered in their bed. Upon being discovered, she jumps out a window to escape and is never seen by the bears again. Middle version, replace the old woman with Goldielocks. Final version, replace the bachelors with a family of bears. There's no mention of any family because it came from a time prior to the always-on-alert helicopter parenting that exists mostly in the USA at this point, where the idea of a child wandering around and exploring on their own is unthinkable. Quite often if you lived in or near the woods (far more common when this was written, in the 1800s), kids would just go exploring once they learned how to make their way back. Every so often a child would get lost and die this way, of course, but then again this was before we understood about germs and how to make vaccines, so about half of kids were dying anyway due to diseases. Incidentally, you should go back to that scene and look at the book she's reading. Look at the first letter of each line, and read down, realizing she's looking for what will make her happy, looking for a family. "...why am I getting nervous of an animation movie..." Why do you get nervous at _any_ movie? All of them, 100%, are fiction and you know that going in. Watch Jaws, the special effects aren't even crazy great, and yet it'll work. You're getting nervous because the _situation_ in the movie is, in fact, scary. When you watch a movie or show, you consider what it would be like to be in that situation. With _most_ animation, though, it's not scary because the threats are silly (cartoonish?). It's hard to be scared when your opponent is a ridiculous eggplant in a silly suit, everything is brightly lit, and your opponent mostly just wants to embarrass you, or when the goal makes no sense like planning to take your favorite old book so you can no longer pass it on to your own kids or soemthing. This, however, is genuinely scary stuff, in darkness. It is entirely irrelevant whether it's animated or not. Some anime does pretty good with the horror field. Devilman Crybaby, for instance, or Attack on Titan. Secret of Nimh has several pretty scary moments.

Some Parents tried getting this movie taken out of theatres because they went in expecting a full blown silly kids movie but their kids ended up crying because of death

by the way, I haven't finished this reaction but just so you know Jack Horner is a metaphor for Disney. hoarding magical things just so nobody else has any ruining them by misdirection and wasting their potential.

Death isn’t really a villain. He’s just reality.

Lol, I checked the review of the movie in a cinema in Norway, and a mother complained and gave the film a 1 star 'cause her child, who was actually too young for the age group of the movie, was scared of the wolf. They left before even getting 20 min in. A bit unfair to the movie, as it's awesome.

"why am i getting intimated by a animated movie...you grown" its a movie,its supposed to make you feel things animated or not,if it doesn't,then why watch it,why make them (studio ghiblis Miyazaki is an outlier,the man has created some of the most breathtaking animation but seems like he craves death to it all)

I know of some very scary animated villains. However they where episodes and not a full movie. LarryBoy and the Fib from outer space. And LarryBoy and the Rumour Weed. The bad apple episode isn't that scary. And the villain in the league of incredible vegetables isn't scary at all. So yeah. The first 2 villains are scary for kids. And theatricality dark. More maniacal, but overall harmless.
