ME REACTING TO SCARFACE FOR THE FIRST TIME
Tony Montana manages to leave Cuba during the Mariel exodus of 1980. He finds himself in a Florida refugee camp but his friend Manny has a way out for them: undertake a contract killing and arrangements will be made to get a green card. He's soon working for drug dealer Frank Lopez and shows his mettle when a deal with Colombian drug dealers goes bad. He also brings a new level of violence to Miami. Tony is protective of his younger sister but his mother knows what he does for a living and disowns him. Tony is impatient and wants it all however, including Frank's empire and his mistress Elvira Hancock. Once at the top however, Tony's outrageous actions make him a target and everything comes crumbling down.

he was called Scarface one time in the movie..in the chainsaw scene, after Angel is butchered, Hector says to Tony right before he revs the chainsaw "Okay cara cicatriz, you can die too" cara cicatriz loosely translates to "Scarface" in Spanish. Watch that scene again, and you'll see it.

The actress in the blue bikini Manny was talking to is Tammy Lynn Leppert. Shortly after the scene was filmed, she just vanished. Last seen in Cocoa Beach, friends of hers claim she just abruptly left, "afraid of someone". No one ever saw her again.

You know, the first motion picture was exhibited in 1895. I wouldn't exactly call a movie from 1983 "old-timey." This film is actually a remake, and the original Scarface WAS basically an Al Capone movie. Capone was nicknamed "Scarface." The director of this film (Brain De Palma) also directed The Untouchables, which is the story of Capone and Elliot Ness.

I lived in central Florida at the time, not Miami, but all of the state was aware of the drug scene there. A college buddy told me he knew a high school buddy that was making $100,000 each time he moved drugs from Miami to north Florida in the trunk of his car. Had to drive perfectly, obey all speed limits, etc. to avoid any traffic stops.@@ReactWithJohn

I really liked your reaction. I understand your point of view, that always with these characters, they fall into the same cliche of being corrupted by money, drugs, power and making mistakes and they die. i feel the same but i honestly think the studios do it so as not to promote a negative role model . I think you will enjoy the character construction in: *Blood in, Blood Out* (1993) and also Since you talked about Al Capone, I recommend you the movie: *The Untouchables* (1987)

Miami didn't want this filmed there because it would make the City look bad. Most outside scenes were filmed in LA. 4. My biggest takeaway was how fast Sosa got his team to rain on Tony.
