@@3OBTPAIt's funny how people are watching the prequels now for the first time are understanding why George decided to show anakin as a young kid in this movie yet fans at the time this came out didn't and whined about it. You're supposed to question, how did this sweet child become darth vader?? What happened to him??? Most people that I have seen react to TPM feel this way. In the TPM audio commentary George said this was exactly how you should feel when watching this. Jake Lloyd wasn't the greatest actor in this movie but he did a pretty good job playing an innocent and sweet kid. I don't know what it is about his performance but it just works.❤❤❤

My general thoughts on Star Wars. Everything Lucas was directly involved in making is Canon (first 6 movies, Clone Wars TV show) and should be viewed (ok, the full CW show is a huge amount of content and likely beyond most reaction channels, but it adds so much depth to the story and that time period). Everything else isn’t canon and is basically professional fan fiction. There is a lot of great stuff in there and there’s a lot of junk (both from Disney and when Lucas was still at the helm). Heir to the Empire is fantastic but came out a decade before Lucas introduced clones to the canon. The clones in that trilogy are so different than anything in the prequels that can’t make it work in the same timeline. Some of the stuff back then, and now, are great. A lot, not so much. Lucas created the sandbox (and a lot of movie making tools) with these six films. Then, everyone was invited to play. Aside from the first six movies, enjoy what you like, and ignore what you don’t. Are there flaws in the Lucas films? Sure (let’s just say he should never pen a romance novel). But, Jake Lloyd was great in this film. Jar Jar was a misstep (but the actor that portrayed him is phenomenal). The prequel story arc is amazing and adds so much to the original trilogy. I don’t care for the sequels, but my main gripe is that they are labeled episode 7-9. The 6 core films had one cohesive story arc which doesn’t carry on into the sequels. If they had them listed as their own trilogy, I would have enjoyed them a lot more I think. Hope you enjoy the prequels. They have aged quite well over the years…

"Who is this child actor? I hope he's really famous now" broke my heart a little bit. The fact that Star Wars "fans" were so mean and bullied him out of show business and he developed severe mental illness. And Jar Jar's actor almost committed suicide because people hated his character and bullied him constantly too. Ahmed Best seems to be doing great now. Jake Lloyd not so much, but hopefully he's at least living a relatively peaceful life.

In Attack of the Clones, Padme’s ship, Dexters Diner, the buildings on Kamino, the Clone observation tower, the arena on Geonosis, etc were all models. In Revenge of the Sith, the sinkhole on Utapau, the Kashyyyk trees, the lava flows on Mustafar, were all models, and most of the lava you see shooting up into the air is actually footage of a real volcano erupting that the crew was able to fly out to and film. It’s crazy to me that so many people complain about the “over abundance” of CGI in the prequels when they ignore all the truly great looking model work. The shots they’re in look so great and real that you don’t even notice them, they just blend right in. And tbh I only have an issue with a handful of the cgi shots.

The start of each movie has that startling effect because it starts immediately. Industry rules require the production studio to get credit, among many others before a title can be shown. When Star Wars went for this powerful impact, they had to pay a large fine/penalty. It's a dumb rule, even if the people who made the movie possible deserve credit. The wild success of Star Wars should have taught them that getting the title out there up front and allowing credits only at the end can actually make for a better movie, where we aren't distracted by names and company names popping up in the movie and messing up our experience. As for Liam, he has a particular set of skills that makes him very formidable.

Unfinished C-3PO wasn't done as neither a man in a suit or a CGI model (because it was too complicated at the time with the moving parts) so he was done as a body-puppetry similair to Bunraku, japanese puppetry, where the 3PO puppet was attached to a puppeteer through rods. The puppeteer (which wasn't Anthony Daniels as the puppet was too heavy) was then painted out in post-production.

Where do they go?….. those are people that made Pixar….. that’s why when Pixar put out toy story and finding Nemo that’s why they were awesome at the very beginning….. why because they were all the people that have been doing special effects and a very high level for a very long time….. electric light and magic…. 34:30 - and the fun part is that a droid army won't stop until it is ordered to by its central computer. It won't panic, it won't be afraid, it won't get nervous, a droid army is simply efficient at killing. Even then, look how many Gungans were taken prisoner at 38:26 and 40:04. The droid army wasn't going for genocide, just victory. 34:51 - the shields protected the Gungan army from the tank fire. Imagine what would have happened to the Gungan army if those tanks had been able to fire freely into their ranks. 39:53 - and this is why you don't make your droid army depend on a single external control signal. Then again the Trade Federation is composed of businessmen rather than combat professionals. 40:42 - "he will bring balance to the Force". If there are several thousand Jedi and there are only two Sith, then to balance the Force you'd need to bring the Jedi down to only two, right?

Hidden gem, which you may have missed in your first watch of this film: If you watch the film all the way to the end of the closing credits, you can hear Darth Vader breathing. A foreshadowing of future events, that occurs outside the 'main body' of the film. :)

The Gungan forcefields are to deflect from orbital bombardment but they can be walked through. Which is why in Empire Vader is angry at the Imperial for coming too close to planet. The Rebels were able to activate their shields and the Empire then had to make a ground assault. 🤓

In the lore of legends, it's explained that there was a sith (I can't name him for spoiler reasons) That wanted to create a being of pure evil, from only the force. His apprentice (also can't name) broke his ritual, and in an ironic twist of fate, made Anakin a being of pure good.

If you want to see a young Natlie Portman, watch the film Beautiful Girls. Imo, that's her best acting performance of her career. She seemed so natural in that role vs. her other roles where it doesn't seem as natural.

The unique reason why Qui-Gon didn't sense danger from Anakin because he was planning on training him. And there was no warning from the Force to him because Anakin's future would've been different. The song playing during the fight with Maul is called "Duel of the Fates"

@Christy The animated Clone Wars takes years to show stories between 2 and 3 so there is that, the live 6 episode Obiwon is also well done and emotional as is the live action Mandalorian. It will be fun to see you watch the next two of the prequels. Please know these were REALLY hated until 7 8 and 9 came out. Glad you liked most of it :)

Yes, the emperor is the same actor. He was actually a bit young in Return of the Jedi, but heavy makeup made him look old. The actor actually aged into the part well for the prequels

(Still in intro)- cute drawing of you! Release order and you will be ok. Things happen in order of being created, then inserted appropriately for audience/ us. If you go in actual timeline chronologically then it won't be entertaining or interesting, like if you look at the solution to a puzzle or magic trick first, the magic is gone. (Also Nothing can prepare you for the holiday special, if you can watch it without a break you are amazing) On to reaction!

People might say this trilogy is not as good. Perhaps, too different, whatever, but it's good to see. Nothing to do with the 3 disney starwars movies. Those might be fun, but it does not matter, it's not a matter of good or bad, they are insulting and should be ignored. Although obviously, you all can do whatever you want.

3PO is a full sized puppet with the puppeteer CGed out from behind it. I don’t know what the type of puppet is called but it was connected by rods to the operator at key spots and would mimic his performance. Why Anthony Daniels (3PO’s voice and suit actor) wasn’t operating it I don’t know. It’s noticeable that he doesn’t move the same. It’s usually explained away by saying that since he just came online he’s still learning to control himself.

I think the sequels aren't as good (episode 7,8 and 9), but like you said, make up your own mind. I did like episode 7 The Force Awakens though. The making of the original trilogy called Empire of Dreams is something to check out. It shows how the original films were made and ALL Lucas had to go through to make the films. It may sound boring, but trust me it's AWESOME. Great reaction!

This movie is why the movies are out of order…. There are things in this movie that they could not do with the 1970s special effects…. So rather than wait for the special effects to catch up, he decided to do fourth movie instead, which didn’t need or require as much special effects….. he actually considered waiting to do the movies until the technology was there to do the movies like he wanted to, but instead he decided to do the movies out of order
