You thought Arnol was creepy as the terminator? Robert Patrick does the role of a lifetime playing the T1000. Just enough enough to sell that he's actually a machine while still looking human, he's the king of "Uncanny Valley", he gets alot of praise for this role yet it never seems to be quite enough. It's an absolutly brilliant preformance.

Keep in mind that Robert Patrick specifically trained himself to never blink on camera, to run without blinking or opening his mouth, to fire a gun in both hands, and to fire and reload without blinking. "I need a vacation" shows the Terminator is developed a personality of it's own, in a way, becoming "human". It has learned human emotion and humor. The ending hits everyone hard (I cried the first time), it's bittersweet. The Terminator sacrifices itself so humanity has a chance. Fun/sad fact: Movie theme was "sacrifice versus cost". Guy wasn't killed by Sarah, but he gave up his life's work, left his family without much hesitation and *even* timed his death on the principle of saving the cops that shot him full of holes. He didn't want anyone to suffer, but him and his family came last on the list. Everyone else got to live their lives cuz he cared, even the cops being nearby was enough for him to wait in agony. Presence of innocent people got him to wait and tell em' to run, just cuz he knew they didn't do anything less than their job. Point is: He was the opposite of a classic Terminator, putting his life, his life's work and his loving family *last* on the food chain. Chad literally went out alone, in agony and 100% too afraid to give up, trying save as many people as possible. I mean, even if John Connor died, Skynet might not exist in this timeline, thanks to one guy doing the right thing.

T2 was the most expensive movie made at the time. It also shows the importance of not over relying on CGI, instead including a large amount of practical effects, real live action stunts and filming on location instead of entirely on a green screen stage. Movies like this are so much more visually appealing than today's films (even though the CGI is a bit dated). Jurassic Park is another prime example.

What makes this and Aliens great is that Cameron extends the story into a new chapter each time. So many sequels are simple rehashes with few new ideas. These have callbacks, but the overall plot is new and the storyline progresses into new territory. A couple fun facts. All the scenes where the T1000 duplicates someone but you see both of them, were shot using identical twins instead of green screen. That includes the ending with duplicate Sarah Conor. The actress has a twin sister. In the hospital scene where Sarah hits the orderly with the broom stick in the face, that was a real hit. In the scene where Sarah picks locks in the hospital, the actress trained herself to really pick locks and did it for real.

I saw this in the theatre in 1991 and it pretty much blew all of us away watching it! Unfortunately it was leaked early on before the film's release that Arnold would be the "Hero" this time around. Some of us expected there to be "two Arnolds" one good, one bad- really glad they didn't go that route. The T-1000 is much closer to Cameron's original idea for the Terminator in the 1st film- that he would be more the size of a "normal" guy, and therefore blend in easily in a crowd. However when Arnold took on the role of the villain, the Terminator became a bulldozer and no longer about stealth. However Cameron took it to another level by having the T-1000 be a shape shifter on top of it all. THAT was a huge surprise for us in 1991! It's funny- when we first saw Arnold appear, I said to my friends, "Oh that's the *other* guy" (because Arnold was SO slim). My buddy answered, "No look at the face that's Arnold!" When Arnold stood up... Our jaws dropped at how much size he had lost between films. And yeah the stunts were off the charts in this movie... If they still hold up today, think about how much it blew our minds back in '91! But one of the most memorable scenes was Sarah's nuclear nightmare. When the shockwave obliterated the buildings, the audience collectively let out a loud "WHOA!" in the theatre. Apparently it was the most realistic depiction of a city being destroyed by a nuclear blast on film at the time. I still prefer the original- but the sequel is well worthy.

It was so cool to be a teenager in the nineties. I lived in a smaller town with only two movie theaters. Actually they really looked like theaters. You could go to these amazing movies and meet your friends at the lobby. I saw this film for example there and I remember going alone but meeting my cousins at the foyer. We had a blast together seeing this amazing flick. And it's still one of my favourites.

This is one of my favorite movies. The Terminator is alao phenomenal. I think the third was perfecrly fine, just not on the level of the first two. Salvation is underrated. Not great, but a lot of cool ideas, and I wish they committed to that plot thread moving forward. Christian Bale and Sam Worthington weee great, and I wanted more. Genesys was abaolutely insane, and maybe not in a good way. It's more enjoyable if you just accept it as someone throwing ideas against the wall in a what if kind of story and jus5 running wild with it. Dark Fate tried to pull a Superman Returns by ignoring everything after 2, but their idea of "reinvigorating the franchise" was to do the exact same thing, except this time, John dirty and replace him with a Latina, because replacing male protagonists of classic franchises with women automatically makes everything better, right Ghostbusters 2016? To be fair, Genesys kinda did him dirty too, but nothing mattered in that one and it kinda feels like an alternate universe thing that was fixed by time travel nonsense anyway.

This is one of my favourite action films of all time right next to Kill Bill 1 and it's the best Terminator film ever. I prefer practical effects in action films rather than CGI that looks too fake, if you're gonna have an explosion in a film then have an explosion in a film. Sarah is a female character that I prefer in an action film to be; total tough badass. She has seen the Terminator for herself when she killed the first one so she was in the same position as Kyle was in the first one when she was trying to tell everyone that the robots are real and no one believes her

The whole thing with the !-800's CPU chip, and what John said to him about Skynet not wanting them being *too* independent, made me think that if the machines won the war, they might eventually evolve to become altruistic, and regret the decision to wipe out humans. One of the take-away's from this is when Arnold says "I need a vacation" and when puts his thumb up at the end. Neither of those things conform to a machines programmed operational parameters. At the end, the Terminator's "Neural Network Processor" is exceeding its original programmed parameters and it is starting to "think" independently. He actually starting to program himself a conscience.
