This episode showed that as intelligent as Huey was, he was still just a kid and had a lot to learn about the world around him.

In his own way, Huey is just as naive as Riley. Huey really planned on shooting his way in the prison and couldn’t do it because he didn’t have a ride. 😂

One of my fav things about this show is how it can take heavy topics & bring them to light in such a humorous way. This episode in particular was based on the true story of Mumia Abu Jamar , a former member of the Black Panthers (a black liberation group) who was (depending on who you ask), wrongfully convicted & sentenced to death for the murder of a white police officer in the 80s while on duty as a taxi driver in Philadelphia. He gained a ton of media coverage/ support world wide over the decades that passed & eventually had his sentence overturned to life in prison w out chance of parole.

Robert and Jasmine told huey, that he should pray. Even though he's not religious, he finally gave in when he felt hopelessness about a situation. By praying to the lord with all of his heart, god answered him by instantly thwarting 3 events, that could of led to even worser outcomes, from the cheating spouse, to the false pastor, and the execution of an innocent man.

Great reaction!! And yes things like what happened to Shabazz happens a lot unfortunately. The black panther party are heroes to the black community. When black people were getting abused by racist police officers it was the black panthers who defended and even killed some racist police to protect black neighborhoods and they did it using guns which was actually legal so the police couldn’t really say anything at the time😅!! It was the Black Panther party who started the free children’s breakfast program that is still used in schools today. In 70s they discovered children learn better when they have had breakfast and not coming to school hungry. They also created the WIC program for pregnant women. They have two movies about the Black Panthers. (One is called “Panther” that came out in 1995 and the other one is called “Judas and the Black Messiah” this one came out in 2021 you react to them 😄) (Fun fact: Many Asians actually worked with the black Panther party and even supplied them with the guns they needed to patrol their neighborhoods and supported the program 😃)

One thing I loved about the Boondocks is that it highlighted a lot of conflicts and ideologies in America in a digestible manner. It will be nice to hear your review of the season and get your take from the show.

Well the prophecy isn’t the reason ruckus is like this. There’s an episode later that dives into his past that will explain why he is the way he is. I think it’s in season 3(or 4), but still, crazy episode with him

10:44 11:28 12:27 20:39 It's one thing to blame the nearest black man for a murder that they didn't done but the multiple charges of evidence can tell he's innocent. Then again this is the same show were two Iraq veterans nearly got away with maya angelou and bill cosby after they accidentally became heroes when they were the terrorists.

12:27 Being a Black Panther member probably didn't help. They were radical/militant, at least in the eyes of government. Not sure if they still are though. I haven't heard of them in recent times (I'm not American)
@craigime4 ай бұрын
yeah they were real radical and alot of people just got caught up in the foolishness.... they're still around, but not as active- nor are they important anymore

The American government had a government program pushed by the FBI called "CointelPro" that targeted Black American Freedom fighters and groups like the Black Panthers and the Nation of Islam including the Famous Malcolm X and Martin Luther King. The government would send agents to try to convince key activists who tried to get Black Americans more rights to do violent crimes the FBI could use to to mess up any Pro Black American organization. Many of the Black panthers members were set up with false charges that they're still doing time in prison for and some were took out.

This was very good but if you plan to keep watching than I wouldn't recommend season 4. The creator of the series got fired around that time and wasn't as involved with the script, so it's not as funny as the previous seasons.
@Ahsoka4 ай бұрын
How can they fire a creator 😳

@@Ahsoka Apparently Aaron McGruder took too long to write the episodes so they got replaced by other writers to finish developing the scripts for that season instead. Something similar actually happened to them once again when he tried re-launching the show by selling it to HBO after that 4th season was complete. It got rebooted around 2019 and then cancelled for him taking too long by his HBO employers before any episodes could even be aired by 2022. Aaron also parted ways with one of his co-writers/animators prior (Carl Jones) who wrote many episodes along side them through seasons 1-3. It was over a dispute about them writing and developing another cartoon at the exact same time as The Boondocks titled "Black Dynamite" (2011-2015). One of their other animators (LeSean Thomas) actually created an Anime-style series also involving black characters years after The Boondocks which aired on 'Netflix' called "Yasuke" (2021). But yeah season 4 sucked. You can tell there were a bunch of ideas that Aaron started to write but never fully completed. All of the prior seasons had a one-off story that wrapped everything up by the end of each episode. The 4th season just drags out a singular, long-winded narrative and the premises are not as nuanced or deep. Most fans agree that episodes 1-5 of that season were tolerable enough but the rest of them were awful.
